JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Ecoute, Israël. Te voilà aujourd'hui sur le point de passer le Jourdain, pour aller déposséderdes nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que toi et prendre de grandes villes dont les fortifications montentjusqu'au ciel.	1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
2 C'est un peuple grand et de haute stature que les Anaqim. Tu le connais, tu as entendu dire:"Qui peut tenir tête aux fils d'Anaq?"	2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
3 Sache aujourd'hui que c'est Yahvé ton Dieu qui va passer devant toi, comme un feu dévorantqui les détruira, et c'est lui qui va te les soumettre; alors tu les déposséderas et tu les feras périr promptement,comme te l'a dit Yahvé.	3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
4 Ne dis pas en ton coeur, lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu les chassera devant toi: "C'est à cause de majuste conduite que Yahvé m'a fait entrer en possession de ce pays", alors que c'est en raison de leur perversitéque Yahvé dépossède ces nations à ton profit.	4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
5 Ce n'est pas en raison de ta juste conduite ni de la droiture de ton coeur que tu entres enpossession de leur pays, mais c'est en raison de leur perversité que Yahvé ton Dieu dépossède ces nations à tonprofit; et c'est aussi pour tenir la parole qu'il a jurée à tes pères, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob.	5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Sache aujourd'hui que ce n'est pas ta juste conduite qui te vaut de recevoir de Yahvé ton Dieucet heureux pays pour domaine: car tu es un peuple à la nuque raide.	6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
7 Souviens-toi. N'oublie pas que tu as irrité Yahvé ton Dieu dans le désert. Depuis le jour de tasortie du pays d'Egypte jusqu'à votre arrivée en ce lieu, vous avez été rebelles à Yahvé.	7 Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
8 A l'Horeb vous avez irrité Yahvé, et Yahvé se mit en colère contre vous au point de vousdétruire.	8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
9 J'étais monté sur la montagne pour prendre les tables de pierre, les tables de l'alliance queYahvé concluait avec vous. J'étais demeuré sur la montagne 40 jours et 40 nuits sans manger de pain ni boired'eau.	9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10 Yahvé m'avait donné les deux tables de pierre écrites du doigt de Dieu, conformes en toutpoint aux paroles qu'il vous avait dites du milieu du feu, sur la montagne, au jour de l'Assemblée.	10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11 Au bout de 40 jours et 40 nuits, m'ayant donné les deux tables de pierre, tables de l'alliance,	11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
12 Yahvé me dit: "Lève-toi d'ici, descends en toute hâte, car ton peuple s'est perverti, lui que tuas fait sortir d'Egypte. Ils n'ont pas tardé à s'écarter de la voie que je leur avais prescrite: ils se sont fait une idolede métal fondu."	12 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13 Puis Yahvé me dit: "J'ai vu ce peuple: c'est un peuple à la nuque raide.	13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14 Laisse-moi, que je les détruise et que j'efface leur nom de dessous les cieux; et que je fassede toi une nation plus puissante et plus nombreuse que lui!"	14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 Je redescendis de la montagne, qui était tout embrasée; j'avais les deux tables de l'alliancedans mes deux mains.	15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 Et je vis que vous veniez de pécher contre Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous vous étiez fait un veau demétal fondu: vous n'aviez pas tardé à vous écarter de la voie que Yahvé vous avait prescrite.	16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
17 Je saisis les deux tables, des deux mains je les jetai et je les brisai sous vos yeux.	17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
18 Puis je me jetai à terre devant Yahvé; comme la première fois je fus 40 jours et 40 nuits sansmanger de pain ni boire d'eau, à cause de tous les péchés que vous aviez commis, en faisant ce qui est mal auxyeux de Yahvé au point de l'irriter.	18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
19 Car j'avais peur de cette colère, de cette fureur qui transportait Yahvé contre vous au point devous détruire. Et cette fois encore, Yahvé m'exauça.	19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.
20 Contre Aaron aussi, Yahvé était violemment en colère, au point de le faire périr. J'intercédaiaussi en faveur d'Aaron.	20 And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
21 Cette oeuvre de péché que vous aviez fabriquée, ce veau, je le pris, je le brûlai au feu, je lebroyai, je le réduisis en fine poussière, et j'en jetai la poussière au torrent qui descend de la montagne.	21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
22 Et à Tabeéra, et à Massa, et à Qibrot-ha-Taava, vous avez irrité Yahvé.	22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
23 Et lorsque Yahvé voulut vous faire quitter Cadès-Barné en disant: "Montez prendrepossession du pays que je vous ai donné", vous vous êtes rebellés contre l'ordre de Yahvé votre Dieu, vousn'avez pas cru en lui ni écouté sa voix.	23 Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Vous avez été rebelles à Yahvé depuis le jour où il vous a connus.	24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
25 Je me jetai donc à terre devant Yahvé et je restai prosterné ces 40 jours et ces 40 nuits, carYahvé avait parlé de vous détruire.	25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
26 J'intercédai près de Yahvé et je lui dis: "Mon Seigneur Yahvé, ne détruis pas ton peuple etton héritage, lui que tu as délivré par ta grandeur et que tu as fait sortir d'Egypte à main forte.	26 I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Souviens-toi de tes serviteurs, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et ne fais pas attention à l'indocilitéde ce peuple, à sa perversité et à son péché,	27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
28 de crainte que l'on ne dise au pays d'où tu nous as fait sortir: Yahvé n'a pas pu les conduireau pays dont il leur avait parlé, et c'est en haine d'eux qu'il les a fait sortir, pour les faire mourir dans le désert.	28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 Mais ils sont ton peuple, ton héritage, ceux que tu as fait sortir par ta grande force et ton brasétendu."	29 Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.
