JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Et maintenant, Israël, écoute les lois et les coutumes que je vous enseigne aujourd'hui pourque vous les mettiez en pratique: afin que vous viviez, et que vous entriez, pour en prendre possession, dans lepays que vous donne Yahvé le Dieu de vos pères.	1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
2 Vous n'ajouterez rien à ce que je vous ordonne et vous n'en retrancherez rien, mais vousgarderez les commandements de Yahvé votre Dieu tels que je vous les prescris.	2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
3 Vous voyez de vos yeux ce qu'a fait Yahvé à Baal-Péor: quiconque a suivi le Baal de Péor,Yahvé ton Dieu l'a exterminé du milieu de toi;	3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baal-peor: for all the men that followed Baal-peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
4 mais vous qui êtes restés attachés à Yahvé votre Dieu, vous êtes aujourd'hui tous vivants.	4 But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
5 Vois! comme Yahvé mon Dieu me l'a ordonné, je vous ai enseigné des lois et des coutumes,pour que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays dont vous allez prendre possession.	5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
6 Gardez-les et mettez-les en pratique, ainsi serez-vous sages et avisés aux yeux des peuples.Quand ceux-ci auront connaissance de toutes ces lois, ils s'écrieront: "Il n'y a qu'un peuple sage et avisé, c'estcette grande nation!"	6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
7 Quelle est en effet la grande nation dont les dieux se fassent aussi proches que Yahvé notreDieu l'est pour nous chaque fois que nous l'invoquons?	7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
8 Et quelle est la grande nation dont les lois et coutumes soient aussi justes que toute cette Loique je vous prescris aujourd'hui?	8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
9 Mais prends garde! Garde bien ta vie, ne va pas oublier ces choses que tes yeux ont vues, niles laisser, en aucun jour de ta vie, sortir de ton coeur; enseigne-les au contraire à tes fils et aux fils de tes fils.	9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
10 Au jour où tu te tenais à L'Horeb en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu, Yahvé me dit: "Assemble-moi le peuple, que je leur fasse entendre mes paroles, afin qu'ils apprennent à me craindre tant qu'ils vivront surla terre, et qu'ils l'enseignent à leurs fils."	10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
11 Et vous vous êtes alors approchés, pour vous tenir auprès de la montagne; la montagne étaitembrasée jusqu'en plein ciel -- ciel obscurci de nuages ténébreux et retentissants!	11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
12 Yahvé vous parla alors du milieu du feu; vous entendiez le son des paroles, mais vousn'aperceviez aucune forme, rien qu'une voix.	12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
13 Il vous révéla son alliance, qu'il vous ordonna de mettre en pratique, les dix paroles qu'ilinscrivit sur deux tables de pierre.	13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
14 Quant à moi, Yahvé m'ordonna en ce même temps de vous enseigner les lois et les coutumesque vous auriez à mettre en pratique dans le pays où vous pénétrez pour en prendre possession.	14 And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
15 Prenez bien garde à vous-mêmes: puisque vous n'avez vu aucune forme, le jour où Yahvé, àl'Horeb, vous a parlé du milieu du feu,	15 Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
16 n'allez pas vous pervertir et vous faire une image sculptée représentant quoi que ce soit:figure d'homme ou de femme,	16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17 figure de quelqu'une des bêtes de la terre, figure de quelqu'un des oiseaux qui volent dans leciel,	17 The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
18 figure de quelqu'un des reptiles qui rampent sur le sol, figure de quelqu'un des poissons quivivent dans les eaux au-dessous de la terre.	18 The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
19 Quand tu lèveras les yeux vers le ciel, quand tu verras le soleil, la lune, les étoiles et toutel'armée des cieux, ne va pas te laisser entraîner à te prosterner devant eux et à les servir. Yahvé ton Dieu les adonnés en partage à tous les peuples qui sont sous le ciel,	19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
20 mais vous, Yahvé vous a pris et vous a fait sortir de cette fournaise pour le fer, l'Egypte, pourque vous deveniez le peuple de son héritage, comme vous l'êtes encore aujourd'hui.	20 But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
21 A cause de vous, Yahvé s'est irrité contre moi; il a juré que je ne passerais pas le Jourdain etque je n'entrerais pas dans l'heureux pays qu'il te donne en héritage.	21 Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
22 Oui, je vais mourir en ce pays-ci et je ne passerai pas ce Jourdain. Mais vous, vous allez lepasser et prendre possession de cet heureux pays.	22 But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.
23 Gardez-vous d'oublier l'alliance que Yahvé votre Dieu a conclue avec vous et de vousfabriquer une image sculptée de quoi que ce soit, malgré la défense de Yahvé ton Dieu;	23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
24 car Yahvé ton Dieu est un feu dévorant, un Dieu jaloux.	24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
25 Lorsque tu auras engendré des enfants et des petits-enfants et que vous aurez vieilli dans lepays, quand vous vous serez pervertis, que vous aurez fabriqué quelque image sculptée, fait ce qui est mal auxyeux de Yahvé ton Dieu de manière à l'irriter,	25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:
26 je prends aujourd'hui à témoin contre vous les cieux et la terre: vous devrez promptementdisparaître de ce pays dont vous allez prendre possession en passant le Jourdain. Vous n'y prolongerez pas vosjours, car vous serez bel et bien anéantis.	26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
27 Yahvé vous dispersera parmi les peuples, et il ne restera de vous qu'un petit nombre, aumilieu des nations où Yahvé vous aura conduits.	27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
28 Vous y servirez des dieux faits de main d'homme, du bois et de la pierre incapables de voir etd'entendre, de manger et de sentir.	28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29 De là-bas, tu rechercheras Yahvé ton Dieu, et tu le trouveras si tu le cherches de tout toncoeur et de toute ton âme.	29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 Dans ta détresse, toutes ces paroles t'atteindront, mais à la fin des temps tu reviendras àYahvé ton Dieu et tu écouteras sa voix;	30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
31 car Yahvé ton Dieu est un Dieu miséricordieux qui ne t'abandonnera ni ne te détruira, et quin'oubliera pas l'alliance qu'il a conclue par serment avec tes pères.	31 (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
32 Interroge donc les anciens âges, qui t'ont précédé depuis le jour où Dieu créa l'homme sur laterre: d'un bout du ciel à l'autre y eut-il jamais si auguste parole? En entendit-on de semblable?	32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
33 Est-il un peuple qui ait entendu la voix du Dieu vivant parlant du milieu du feu, comme tul'as entendue, et soit demeuré en vie?	33 Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
34 Est-il un dieu qui soit venu se chercher une nation au milieu d'une autre, par des épreuves,des signes, des prodiges et des combats, à main forte et à bras étendu, et par de grandes terreurs -- toutes chosesque pour vous, sous tes yeux, Yahvé votre Dieu a faites en Egypte?	34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
35 C'est à toi qu'il a donné de voir tout cela, pour que tu saches que Yahvé est le vrai Dieu etqu'il n'y en a pas d'autre.	35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.
36 Du ciel il t'a fait entendre sa voix pour t'instruire, et sur la terre il t'a fait voir son grand feu,et du milieu du feu tu as entendu ses paroles.	36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
37 Parce qu'il a aimé tes pères et qu'après eux il a élu leur postérité, il t'a fait sortir d'Egypte enmanifestant sa présence et sa grande force,	37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
38 il a dépossédé devant toi des nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que toi, il t'a fait entrerdans leur pays et te l'a donné en héritage, comme il le reste encore aujourd'hui.	38 To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
39 Sache-le donc aujourd'hui et médite-le dans ton coeur: c'est Yahvé qui est Dieu, là-haut dansle ciel comme ici-bas sur la terre, lui et nul autre.	39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
40 Garde ses lois et ses commandements que je te prescris aujourd'hui, afin d'avoir, toi et tes filsaprès toi, bonheur et longue vie sur la terre que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne pour toujours.	40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
41 Moïse choisit alors trois villes au-delà du Jourdain, à l'orient,	41 Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
42 où pourrait s'enfuir le meurtrier qui aurait tué son prochain involontairement, sans avoir eucontre lui de haine invétérée: il pourrait, s'enfuyant dans une de ces villes, sauver sa vie.	42 That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
43 C'étaient, pour les Rubénites, Béçèr, dans le désert, sur le Haut-Plateau; pour les Gadites,Ramot en Galaad; pour les Manassites, Golân en Bashân.	43 Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.
44 Voici la Loi que Moïse présenta aux Israélites.	44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
45 Voici les stipulations, les lois et les coutumes que Moïse donna aux Israélites à leur sortied'Egypte,	45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,
46 au-delà du Jourdain, dans la vallée proche de Bet-Péor, au pays de Sihôn, roi amoriterésidant à Heshbôn. Moïse et les Israélites l'avaient battu à leur sortie d'Egypte	46 On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:
47 et s'étaient emparés de son pays, ainsi que du pays d'Og, roi du Bashân, -- tous deux roisamorites au-delà du Jourdain à l'orient,	47 And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
48 depuis Aroër qui est sur le bord de la vallée de l'Arnon jusqu'au mont Siôn (c'est l'Hermon) --	48 From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,
49 et de toute la Araba au-delà du Jourdain à l'orient, jusqu'à la mer de la Araba, au pied despentes du Pisga.	49 And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.
