Deutéronome 11

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Tu aimeras Yahvé ton Dieu et tu garderas toujours ses observances, ses lois, coutumes etcommandements.	1 “And so, love the Lord your God, and observe his precepts and ceremonies, his judgments and commandments, at all times.
2 C'est vous qui avez fait l'expérience et non vos fils. Eux n'ont pas eu l'expérience et n'ont pasperçu les leçons de Yahvé votre Dieu, sa grandeur, sa main forte et son bras étendu,	2 Acknowledge, on this day, the things that your sons did not know. For they did not see the chastisements of the Lord your God, his great acts, and powerful hand, and outstretched arm,
3 les signes et les oeuvres qu'il a accomplis au coeur de l'Egypte, contre Pharaon, roi d'Egypte,et tout son pays,	3 the signs and works that he did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king, and to his entire land,
4 ce qu'il a fait aux armées de l'Egypte, à ses chevaux et à ses chars, en ramenant sur eux leseaux de la mer des Roseaux lorsqu'ils vous poursuivaient et comme il les a anéantis jusqu'aujourd'hui;	4 and to the entire army of the Egyptians, and to their horses and chariots: how the waters of the Red Sea covered them as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord wiped them away, even to the present day;
5 ce qu'il a fait pour vous dans le désert jusqu'à ce que vous arriviez ici;	5 and the things that he accomplished for you in the wilderness, until you arrived at this place;
6 ce qu'il a fait à Datân et à Abiram, les fils d'Eliab le Rubénite, quand la terre ouvrit sa boucheet les engloutit au milieu de tout Israël, avec leurs familles, leurs tentes et tous les gens qui les suivaient.	6 and to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, who was the son of Reuben, those whom the earth, opening its mouth, engulfed with their households and tents, and with their entire substance which they had in the midst of Israel.
7 Ce sont vos yeux à vous qui ont vu cette grande oeuvre de Yahvé.	7 Your eyes have seen all the great works of the Lord, which he has accomplished,
8 Vous garderez tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, afin d'être fortspour conquérir le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,	8 so that you would keep all his commandments, which I entrust to you this day, and so that you would be able to enter and possess the land, toward which you are advancing,
9 afin de demeurer de longs jours sur la terre que Yahvé a promise par serment à vos pères et àleur descendance, terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel.	9 and so that you may live, for a long time, in the land which the Lord promised under oath to your fathers, and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Car le pays où tu entres pour en prendre possession n'est pas comme le pays d'Egypte d'oùvous êtes sortis, où après avoir semé, il fallait arroser avec le pied, comme on arrose un jardin potager.	10 For the land, which you shall enter and possess, is not like the land of Egypt, from which you departed, where, when seed has been sown, waters are brought in by irrigation, in the manner of gardens.
11 Mais le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession est un pays de montagnes etde vallées arrosées de la pluie du ciel.	11 Rather, it has mountainous regions and plains, which lay waiting for rain from heaven.
12 De ce pays Yahvé ton Dieu prend soin, sur lui les yeux de Yahvé ton Dieu restent toujoursfixés, depuis le début de l'année jusqu'à sa fin.	12 And the Lord your God always visits it, and his eyes are upon it, from the beginning of the year, all the way to its end.
13 Assurément, si vous obéissez vraiment à mes commandements que je vous prescrisaujourd'hui, aimant Yahvé votre Dieu et le servant de tout votre coeur et de toute votre âme,	13 So then, if you obey my commandments, which I am instructing to you this day, so that you love the Lord your God, and serve him with your whole heart and your whole soul,
14 je donnerai à votre pays la pluie en son temps, pluie d'automne et pluie de printemps, et tupourras récolter ton froment, ton vin nouveau et ton huile,	14 he will give to your land the early rain and the late rain, so that you may gather your grain, and your wine, and your oil,
15 je donnerai à ton bétail de l'herbe dans la campagne, et tu mangeras et te rassasieras.	15 and your hay from the fields in order to feed your cattle, and so that you yourselves may eat and be satisfied.
16 Gardez-vous de laisser séduire votre coeur: vous vous fourvoieriez, vous serviriez d'autresdieux et vous prosterneriez devant eux;	16 Be careful, lest perhaps your heart may be deceived, and you might withdraw from the Lord, and serve strange gods, and adore them.
17 et la colère de Yahvé s'enflammerait contre vous, il fermerait les cieux, il n'y aurait plus depluie, la terre ne donnerait plus son fruit et vous péririez bientôt en cet heureux pays que Yahvé vous donne.	17 And the Lord, becoming angry, might close up heaven, so that the rain would not descend, nor would the earth produce her seedlings, and then you would quickly perish from the excellent land, which the Lord will give to you.
18 Ces paroles que je vous dis, mettez-les dans votre coeur et dans votre âme, attachez-les àvotre main comme un signe, à votre front comme un bandeau.	18 Place these words of mine in your hearts and minds, and hang them as a sign on your hands, and arrange them between your eyes.
19 Enseignez-les à vos fils, et répétez-les-leur, aussi bien assis dans ta maison que marchantsur la route, couché aussi bien que debout.	19 Teach your sons to meditate on them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down or rise up.
20 Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes,	20 You shall write them upon the doorposts and the gates of your house,
21 afin d'avoir de nombreux jours, vous et vos fils, sur la terre que Yahvé a juré à vos pères deleur donner, aussi longtemps que les cieux demeureront au-dessus de la terre.	21 so that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your sons, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, that he would give it to them for as long as heaven is suspended above the earth.
22 Car, si vraiment vous gardez et pratiquez tous ces commandements que je vous prescris,aimant Yahvé votre Dieu, marchant dans toutes ses voies et vous attachant à lui,	22 For if you keep the commandments which I am entrusting to you, and if you do them, so that you love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, clinging to him,
23 Yahvé dépossédera à votre profit toutes ces nations, et vous déposséderez des nations plusgrandes et plus puissantes que vous.	23 the Lord will scatter all these nations before your face, and you shall possess them, though they are greater and stronger than you.
24 Tout lieu que foulera la plante de vos pieds sera vôtre; depuis le désert, depuis le Liban,depuis le Fleuve, le fleuve Euphrate, jusqu'à la mer Occidentale s'étendra votre territoire.	24 Every place upon which your foot shall tread will be yours. From the desert, and from Lebanon, from the great river Euphrates, as far as the western sea, shall be your borders.
25 Personne ne tiendra devant vous, Yahvé votre Dieu vous fera craindre et redouter sur toutel'étendue du pays que vous foulerez, ainsi qu'il vous l'a dit.	25 No one will stand against you. The Lord your God will spread the terror and dread of you over all the land upon which you shall tread, just as he has spoken to you.
26 Vois! Je vous offre aujourd'hui bénédiction et malédiction.	26 Behold, I am setting forth in your sight today a blessing and a curse.
27 Bénédiction si vous obéissez aux commandements de Yahvé votre Dieu que je vousprescris aujourd'hui,	27 It will be a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am instructing to you this day.
28 malédiction si vous désobéissez aux commandements de Yahvé votre Dieu, si vous vousécartez de la voie que je vous prescris aujourd'hui en suivant d'autres dieux que vous n'avez pas connus.	28 It will be a curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but instead you withdraw from the way, which I am revealing to you now, and you walk after foreign gods that you have not known.
29 Lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu t'aura conduit dans le pays où tu vas entrer pour en prendrepossession, tu placeras la bénédiction sur le mont Garizim et la malédiction sur le mont Ebal.	29 Yet truly, when the Lord your God will have led you into the land, to which you are traveling for a habitation, you shall place the blessing upon Mount Gerizim, the curse upon Mount Ebal,
30 (Ces monts, on le sait, se trouvent au-delà du Jourdain, sur la route du couchant, dans lepays des Cananéens qui habitent la Araba, vis-à-vis de Gilgal, auprès du Chêne de Moré.)	30 which are across the Jordan, behind the way which slopes toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite, who lives in the plains opposite Gilgal, which is near the valley extending toward and entering a distant place.
31 Car vous allez passer le Jourdain, pour venir prendre possession du pays que Yahvé votreDieu vous donne. Vous le posséderez, vous y demeurerez,	31 For you shall cross over the Jordan, so that you may possess the land which the Lord your God will give you, so that you may have it and possess it.
32 et vous garderez et pratiquerez toutes les lois et coutumes que j'énonce aujourd'hui devantvous.	32 Therefore, see to it that you fulfill the ceremonies and judgments, which I am placing in your sight this day.”
