Deutéronome 11

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Tu aimeras Yahvé ton Dieu et tu garderas toujours ses observances, ses lois, coutumes etcommandements.	1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.
2 C'est vous qui avez fait l'expérience et non vos fils. Eux n'ont pas eu l'expérience et n'ont pasperçu les leçons de Yahvé votre Dieu, sa grandeur, sa main forte et son bras étendu,	2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,
3 les signes et les oeuvres qu'il a accomplis au coeur de l'Egypte, contre Pharaon, roi d'Egypte,et tout son pays,	3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,
4 ce qu'il a fait aux armées de l'Egypte, à ses chevaux et à ses chars, en ramenant sur eux leseaux de la mer des Roseaux lorsqu'ils vous poursuivaient et comme il les a anéantis jusqu'aujourd'hui;	4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;
5 ce qu'il a fait pour vous dans le désert jusqu'à ce que vous arriviez ici;	5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;
6 ce qu'il a fait à Datân et à Abiram, les fils d'Eliab le Rubénite, quand la terre ouvrit sa boucheet les engloutit au milieu de tout Israël, avec leurs familles, leurs tentes et tous les gens qui les suivaient.	6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.
7 Ce sont vos yeux à vous qui ont vu cette grande oeuvre de Yahvé.	7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.
8 Vous garderez tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, afin d'être fortspour conquérir le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,	8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,
9 afin de demeurer de longs jours sur la terre que Yahvé a promise par serment à vos pères et àleur descendance, terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel.	9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.
10 Car le pays où tu entres pour en prendre possession n'est pas comme le pays d'Egypte d'oùvous êtes sortis, où après avoir semé, il fallait arroser avec le pied, comme on arrose un jardin potager.	10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.
11 Mais le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession est un pays de montagnes etde vallées arrosées de la pluie du ciel.	11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.
12 De ce pays Yahvé ton Dieu prend soin, sur lui les yeux de Yahvé ton Dieu restent toujoursfixés, depuis le début de l'année jusqu'à sa fin.	12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.
13 Assurément, si vous obéissez vraiment à mes commandements que je vous prescrisaujourd'hui, aimant Yahvé votre Dieu et le servant de tout votre coeur et de toute votre âme,	13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,
14 je donnerai à votre pays la pluie en son temps, pluie d'automne et pluie de printemps, et tupourras récolter ton froment, ton vin nouveau et ton huile,	14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.
15 je donnerai à ton bétail de l'herbe dans la campagne, et tu mangeras et te rassasieras.	15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.
16 Gardez-vous de laisser séduire votre coeur: vous vous fourvoieriez, vous serviriez d'autresdieux et vous prosterneriez devant eux;	16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,
17 et la colère de Yahvé s'enflammerait contre vous, il fermerait les cieux, il n'y aurait plus depluie, la terre ne donnerait plus son fruit et vous péririez bientôt en cet heureux pays que Yahvé vous donne.	17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.
18 Ces paroles que je vous dis, mettez-les dans votre coeur et dans votre âme, attachez-les àvotre main comme un signe, à votre front comme un bandeau.	18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.
19 Enseignez-les à vos fils, et répétez-les-leur, aussi bien assis dans ta maison que marchantsur la route, couché aussi bien que debout.	19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.
20 Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes,	20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 afin d'avoir de nombreux jours, vous et vos fils, sur la terre que Yahvé a juré à vos pères deleur donner, aussi longtemps que les cieux demeureront au-dessus de la terre.	21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.
22 Car, si vraiment vous gardez et pratiquez tous ces commandements que je vous prescris,aimant Yahvé votre Dieu, marchant dans toutes ses voies et vous attachant à lui,	22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,
23 Yahvé dépossédera à votre profit toutes ces nations, et vous déposséderez des nations plusgrandes et plus puissantes que vous.	23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.
24 Tout lieu que foulera la plante de vos pieds sera vôtre; depuis le désert, depuis le Liban,depuis le Fleuve, le fleuve Euphrate, jusqu'à la mer Occidentale s'étendra votre territoire.	24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.
25 Personne ne tiendra devant vous, Yahvé votre Dieu vous fera craindre et redouter sur toutel'étendue du pays que vous foulerez, ainsi qu'il vous l'a dit.	25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.
26 Vois! Je vous offre aujourd'hui bénédiction et malédiction.	26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:
27 Bénédiction si vous obéissez aux commandements de Yahvé votre Dieu que je vousprescris aujourd'hui,	27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;
28 malédiction si vous désobéissez aux commandements de Yahvé votre Dieu, si vous vousécartez de la voie que je vous prescris aujourd'hui en suivant d'autres dieux que vous n'avez pas connus.	28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.
29 Lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu t'aura conduit dans le pays où tu vas entrer pour en prendrepossession, tu placeras la bénédiction sur le mont Garizim et la malédiction sur le mont Ebal.	29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30 (Ces monts, on le sait, se trouvent au-delà du Jourdain, sur la route du couchant, dans lepays des Cananéens qui habitent la Araba, vis-à-vis de Gilgal, auprès du Chêne de Moré.)	30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)
31 Car vous allez passer le Jourdain, pour venir prendre possession du pays que Yahvé votreDieu vous donne. Vous le posséderez, vous y demeurerez,	31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,
32 et vous garderez et pratiquerez toutes les lois et coutumes que j'énonce aujourd'hui devantvous.	32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'
