1 Et il advint, comme il était venu un sabbat chez l'un des chefs des Pharisiens pour prendre un repas,qu'eux étaient à l'observer.	1 And it happened that, when Jesus entered the house of a certain leader of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were observing him.
2 Et voici qu'un hydropique se trouvait devant lui.	2 And behold, a certain man before him was afflicted with edema.
3 Prenant la parole, Jésus dit aux légistes et aux Pharisiens: "Est-il permis, le sabbat, de guérir, ou non?"	3 And responding, Jesus spoke to the experts in the law and to the Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?”
4 Et eux se tinrent cois. Prenant alors le malade, il le guérit et le renvoya.	4 But they kept silent. Yet truly, taking hold of him, he healed him and sent him away.
5 Puis il leur dit: "Lequel d'entre vous, si son fils ou son boeuf vient à tomber dans un puits, ne l'en tireraaussitôt, le jour du sabbat?"	5 And responding to them, he said, “Which of you will have a donkey or an ox fall into a pit, and will not promptly pull him out, on the day of the Sabbath?”
6 Et ils ne purent rien répondre à cela.	6 And they were unable to respond to him about these things.
7 Il disait ensuite une parabole à l'adresse des invités, remarquant comment ils choisissaient les premiersdivans; il leur disait:	7 Then he also told a parable, to those who were invited, noticing how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:
8 "Lorsque quelqu'un t'invite à un repas de noces, ne va pas t'étendre sur le premier divan, de peur qu'unplus digne que toi n'ait été invité par ton hôte,	8 “When you are invited to a wedding, do not sit down in the first place, lest perhaps someone more honored than yourself may have been invited by him.
9 et que celui qui vous a invités, toi et lui, ne vienne te dire: Cède-lui la place. Et alors tu devrais, pleinde confusion, aller occuper la dernière place.	9 And then he who called both you and him, approaching, may say to you, ‘Give this place to him.’ And then you would begin, with shame, to take the last place.
10 Au contraire, lorsque tu es invité, va te mettre à la dernière place, de façon qu'à son arrivée celui quit'a invité te dise: Mon ami, monte plus haut. Alors il y aura pour toi de l'honneur devant tous les autres convives.	10 But when you are invited, go, sit down in the lowest place, so that, when he who invited you arrives, he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the sight of those who sit at table together with you.
11 Car quiconque s'élève sera abaissé, et celui qui s'abaisse sera élevé."	11 For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”
12 Puis il disait à celui qui l'avait invité: "Lorsque tu donnes un déjeuner ou un dîner, ne convie ni tesamis, ni tes frères, ni tes parents, ni de riches voisins, de peur qu'eux aussi ne t'invitent à leur tour et qu'on ne terende la pareille.	12 Then he also said to the one who had invited him: “When you prepare a lunch or dinner, do not choose to call your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your wealthy neighbors, lest perhaps they might then invite you in return and repayment would made to you.
13 Mais lorsque tu donnes un festin, invite des pauvres, des estropiés, des boiteux, des aveugles;	13 But when you prepare a feast, call the poor, the disabled, the lame, and the blind.
14 heureux seras-tu alors de ce qu'ils n'ont pas de quoi te le rendre! Car cela te sera rendu lors de larésurrection des justes."	14 And you will be blessed because they do not have a way to repay you. So then, your recompense will be in the resurrection of the just.”
15 A ces mots, l'un des convives lui dit: "Heureux celui qui prendra son repas dans le Royaume deDieu!"	15 When someone sitting at table with him had heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.”
16 Il lui dit: "Un homme faisait un grand dîner, auquel il invite beaucoup de monde.	16 So he said to him: “A certain man prepared a great feast, and he invited many.
17 A l'heure du dîner, il envoya son serviteur dire aux invités: Venez; maintenant tout est prêt.	17 And he sent his servant, at the hour of the feast, to tell the invited to come; for now everything was ready.
18 Et tous, comme de concert, se mirent à s'excuser. Le premier lui dit: J'ai acheté un champ et il mefaut aller le voir; je t'en prie, tiens-moi pour excusé.	18 And at once they all began to make excuses. The first said to him: ‘I bought a farm, and I need to go out and see it. I ask you to excuse me.’
19 Un autre dit: J'ai acheté cinq paires de boeufs et je pars les essayer; je t'en prie, tiens-moi pourexcusé.	19 And another said: ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you to excuse me.’
20 Un autre dit: Je viens de me marier, et c'est pourquoi je ne puis venir.	20 And another said, ‘I have taken a wife, and therefore I am not able to go.’
21 "A son retour, le serviteur rapporta cela à son maître. Alors, pris de colère, le maître de maison dit àson serviteur: Va-t-en vite par les places et les rues de la ville, et introduis ici les pauvres, les estropiés, lesaveugles et les boiteux. --	21 And returning, the servant reported these things to his lord. Then the father of the family, becoming angry, said to his servant: ‘Go out quickly into the streets and neighborhoods of the city. And lead here the poor, and the disabled, and the blind, and the lame.’
22 Maître, dit le serviteur, tes ordres sont exécutés, et il y a encore de la place.	22 And the servant said: ‘It has been done, just as you ordered, lord, and there is still room.’
23 Et le maître dit au serviteur: Va-t-en par les chemins et le long des clôtures, et fais entrer les gens deforce, afin que ma maison se remplisse.	23 And the lord said to the servant: ‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel them to enter, so that my house may be filled.
24 Car, je vous le dis, aucun de ces hommes qui avaient été invités ne goûtera de mon dîner."	24 For I tell you, that none of those men who were invited will taste of my feast.’ ”
25 Des foules nombreuses faisaient route avec lui, et se retournant il leur dit:	25 Now great crowds traveled with him. And turning around, he said to them:
26 "Si quelqu'un vient à moi sans haïr son père, sa mère, sa femme, ses enfants, ses frères, ses soeurs, etjusqu'à sa propre vie, il ne peut être mon disciple.	26 “If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yes, even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple.
27 Quiconque ne porte pas sa croix et ne vient pas derrière moi ne peut être mon disciple.	27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple.
28 "Qui de vous en effet, s'il veut bâtir une tour, ne commence par s'asseoir pour calculer la dépense etvoir s'il a de quoi aller jusqu'au bout?	28 For who among you, wanting to build a tower, would not first sit down and determine the costs that are required, to see if he has the means to complete it?
29 De peur que, s'il pose les fondations et ne peut achever, tous ceux qui le verront ne se mettent à semoquer de lui, en disant:	29 Otherwise, after he will have laid the foundation and not been able to finish it, everyone who sees it may begin to mock him,
30 Voilà un homme qui a commencé de bâtir et il n'a pu achever!	30 saying: ‘This man began to build what he was not able to finish.’
31 Ou encore quel est le roi qui, partant faire la guerre à un autre roi, ne commencera par s'asseoir pourexaminer s'il est capable, avec 10.000 hommes, de se porter à la rencontre de celui qui marche contre lui avec20.000?	31 Or, what king, advancing to engage in war against another king, would not first sit down and consider whether he may be able, with ten thousand, to meet one who comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 Sinon, alors que l'autre est encore loin, il lui envoie une ambassade pour demander la paix.	32 If not, then while the other is still far away, sending a delegation, he would ask him for terms of peace.
33 Ainsi donc, quiconque parmi vous ne renonce pas à tous ses biens ne peut être mon disciple.	33 Therefore, everyone of you who does not renounce all that he possesses is not able to be my disciple.
34 "C'est donc une bonne chose que le sel. Mais si même le sel vient à s'affadir, avec quoil'assaisonnera-t-on?	34 Salt is good. But if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be seasoned?
35 Il n'est bon ni pour la terre ni pour le fumier: on le jette dehors. Celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre,qu'il entende!"	35 It is useful neither in soil, nor in manure, so instead, it shall be thrown away. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
