1 Les Pharisiens et les Sadducéens s'approchèrent alors et lui demandèrent, pour le mettre àl'épreuve, de leur faire voir un signe venant du ciel.	1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
2 Il leur répondit: "Au crépuscule vous dites: Il va faire beau temps, car le ciel est rouge feu;	2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 et à l'aurore: Mauvais temps aujourd'hui, car le ciel est d'un rouge sombre. Ainsi, le visage du cielvous savez l'interpréter, et pour les signes des temps vous n'en êtes pas capables!	3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 Génération mauvaise et adultère! elle réclame un signe, et de signe, il ne lui sera donné que lesigne de Jonas." Et les laissant, il s'en alla.	4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
5 Comme ils passaient sur l'autre rive, les disciples avaient oublié de prendre des pains.	5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 Or Jésus leur dit: "Ouvrez l'oeil et méfiez-vous du levain des Pharisiens et des Sadducéens!"	6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 Et eux de faire en eux-mêmes cette réflexion: "C'est que nous n'avons pas pris de pains."	7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Le sachant, Jésus dit: "Gens de peu de foi, pourquoi faire en vous-mêmes cette réflexion, quevous n'avez pas de pains?	8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Vous ne comprenez pas encore? Vous ne vous rappelez pas les cinq pains pour les 5.000hommes, et le nombre de couffins que vous en avez retirés?	9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Ni les sept pains pour les 4.000 hommes, et le nombre de corbeilles que vous en avez retirées?	10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 Comment ne comprenez-vous pas que ma parole ne visait pas des pains? Méfiez-vous, dis-je, dulevain des Pharisiens et des Sadducéens!"	11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Alors ils comprirent qu'il avait dit de se méfier, non du levain dont on fait le pain, mais del'enseignement des Pharisiens et des Sadducéens.	12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 Arrivé dans la région de Césarée de Philippe, Jésus posa à ses disciples cette question: "Au diredes gens, qu'est le Fils de l'homme?"	13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 Ils dirent: "Pour les uns, Jean le Baptiste; pour d'autres, Elie; pour d'autres encore, Jérémie ouquelqu'un des prophètes" --	14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 "Mais pour vous, leur dit-il, qui suis-je?"	15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 Simon-Pierre répondit: "Tu es le Christ, le Fils du Dieu vivant."	16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 En réponse, Jésus lui dit: "Tu es heureux, Simon fils de Jonas, car cette révélation t'est venue,non de la chair et du sang, mais de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.	17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 Eh bien! moi je te dis: Tu es Pierre, et sur cette pierre je bâtirai mon Eglise, et les Portes del'Hadès ne tiendront pas contre elle.	18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 Je te donnerai les clefs du Royaume des Cieux: quoi que tu lies sur la terre, ce sera tenu dans lescieux pour lié, et quoi que tu délies sur la terre, ce sera tenu dans les cieux pour délié."	19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Alors il ordonna aux disciples de ne dire à personne qu'il était le Christ.	20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 A dater de ce jour, Jésus commença de montrer à ses disciples qu'il lui fallait s'en aller àJérusalem, y souffrir beaucoup de la part des anciens, des grands prêtres et des scribes, être tué et, le troisièmejour, ressusciter.	21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Pierre, le tirant à lui, se mit à le morigéner en disant: "Dieu t'en préserve, Seigneur! Non, cela net'arrivera point!"	22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 Mais lui, se retournant, dit à Pierre: "Passe derrière moi, Satan! tu me fais obstacle, car tespensées ne sont pas celles de Dieu, mais celles des hommes!"	23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Alors Jésus dit à ses disciples: "Si quelqu'un veut venir à ma suite, qu'il se renie lui-même, qu'ilse charge de sa croix, et qu'il me suive.	24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 Qui veut en effet sauver sa vie la perdra, mais qui perdra sa vie à cause de moi la trouvera.	25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 Que servira-t-il donc à l'homme de gagner le monde entier, s'il ruine sa propre vie? Ou quepourra donner l'homme en échange de sa propre vie?	26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 "C'est qu'en effet le Fils de l'homme doit venir dans la gloire de son Père, avec ses anges, etalors il rendra à chacun selon sa conduite.	27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 En vérité je vous le dis: il en est d'ici présents qui ne goûteront pas la mort avant d'avoir vu leFils de l'homme venant avec son Royaume.	28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
