1 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:	1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 Fils d'homme, prophétise et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Poussez des cris: "Ah! Quel jour!"	2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Wail: ‘Woe, woe to the day!’
3 Car le jour est proche, il est proche le jour de Yahvé; ce sera un jour chargé de nuages, ce sera letemps des nations.	3 For the day is near, and the day of the Lord is approaching! It is a day of gloom; it will be the time of the Gentiles.
4 L'épée viendra en Egypte, l'angoisse au pays de Kush, quand les morts tomberont en Egypte,quand on emportera ses richesses et que ses fondements seront renversés.	4 And the sword will come to Egypt. And there will be dread in Ethiopia, when the wounded will have fallen in Egypt, and its multitude will have been taken away, and its foundations will have been destroyed.
5 Kush, Put et Lud, toute l'Arabie, Kub et les fils du pays de l'Alliance tomberont avec eux parl'épée.	5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the rest of the common people, and Chub, and the sons of the land of the covenant, will fall with them by the sword.
6 Ainsi parle Yahvé. Ils tomberont, les appuis de l'Egypte; il croulera l'orgueil de sa force: deMigdol à Syène, on y tombera par l'épée, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.	6 Thus says the Lord God: And those who prop up Egypt will fall, and the arrogance of its reign will be brought down. They will fall in it by the sword, before the tower of Syene, says the Lord, the God of hosts.
7 Ils seront dévastés au milieu de pays dévastés, ses villes seront au milieu de villes détruites.	7 And they will be scattered into the midst of desolate lands, and its cities will be in the midst of cities that have been deserted.
8 Et ils sauront que je suis Yahvé, quand je mettrai le feu à l'Egypte et que se briseront tous sessoutiens.	8 And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have brought a fire into Egypt, and when all its helpers will have been worn away.
9 Ce jour-là, les messagers que j'enverrai partiront sur des bateaux pour troubler Kush dans sasécurité. L'angoisse se répandra chez ses habitants, au jour de l'Egypte - oui! la voici qui vient!	9 In that day, messengers will go forth from my face in Greek warships, in order to crush the confidence of Ethiopia. And there will be dread among them in the day of Egypt; for without doubt, it will happen.
10 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: J'anéantirai la multitude de l'Egypte, par la main deNabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone.	10 Thus says the Lord God: By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease.
11 Lui et son peuple avec lui, la plus barbare des nations, seront amenés pour ravager le pays. Ilstireront l'épée contre l'Egypte et rempliront le pays de cadavres.	11 He, and his people with him, the strongest of the Gentiles, will be brought forth in order to destroy the land. And they will draw their swords over Egypt. And they will fill the land with the slain.
12 Je mettrai les Nils à sec, je vendrai le pays à des méchants. Je dévasterai le pays et ce qu'ilrenferme par la main d'étrangers. Moi, Yahvé, j'ai parlé.	12 And I will cause the channels of the rivers to dry up. And I will deliver the land into the hand of the most wicked. And by the hands of foreigners, I will utterly destroy the land and its plenitude. I, the Lord, have spoken.
13 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: J'anéantirai les ordures, j'ôterai de Noph les faux dieux. Il n'yaura plus de prince au pays d'Egypte. Je répandrai la crainte au pays d'Egypte.	13 Thus says the Lord God: And I will destroy the graven images, and I will cause the idols of Memphis to cease. And there will no longer be a commander of the land of Egypt. And I will send terror upon the land of Egypt.
14 Je dévasterai Patros, je mettrai le feu à Coân, je ferai justice de No.	14 And I will destroy the land of Pathros, and I will send a fire upon Tahpanhes, and I will execute judgments in Alexandria.
15 Je déverserai ma fureur sur Sîn, la forteresse de l'Egypte; j'exterminerai la multitude de No.	15 And I will pour out my indignation upon Pelusium, the strength of Egypt, and I will kill the multitude of Alexandria.
16 Je mettrai le feu à l'Egypte, Sîn sera pris de convulsions, à No, on ouvrira une brèche et les eauxse répandront.	16 And I will send a fire upon Egypt. Pelusium will be in pain, like a woman giving birth. And Alexandria will be utterly destroyed. And in Memphis, there will be anguish every day.
17 Les jeunes gens de On et de Pi-Bésèt tomberont par l'épée et les villes elles-mêmes iront encaptivité.	17 The young men of Heliopolis and Pibeseth will fall by the sword, and the young women will be led into captivity.
18 A Tahpanhès, le jour deviendra ténèbres quand j'y briserai les sceptres de l'Egypte et quel'orgueil de sa force prendra fin. Quant à elle, un nuage la couvrira et ses filles iront en captivité.	18 And in Tahpanhes, the day will grow black, when, in that place, I will break the scepters of Egypt. And the arrogance of her authority will fail within her; a gloom will cover her. Then her daughters will be led into captivity.
19 C'est ainsi que je ferai justice de l'Egypte, et l'on saura que je suis Yahvé.	19 And I will execute judgments in Egypt. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
20 La onzième année, au premier mois, le sept du mois, la parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en cestermes:	20 And it happened that, in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came, me, saying:
21 Fils d'homme, j'ai brisé le bras de Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et voici que nul n'a pansé sa blessure eny appliquant des remèdes, en y mettant un bandage et en le pansant pour qu'il retrouve la force de manier l'épée.	21 “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And behold, it has not been wrapped, so that it might be restored to health; it has not been bound with cloths, or bandaged with linen, so that, having recovered strength, it would be able to hold the sword.
22 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Voici que je me déclare contre Pharaon, roid'Egypte; je lui briserai les bras, celui qui est valide et celui qui est brisé, et je ferai tomber l'épée de sa main.	22 Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and I will shatter his strong arm, which has already been broken. And I will cast the sword away from his hand.
23 Je disséminerai l'Egypte parmi les nations, je la disperserai dans les pays.	23 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands.
24 Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone et je mettrai mon épée dans sa main. Je briserai les brasde Pharaon et celui-ci poussera devant son ennemi des gémissements de mourant.	24 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And I will put my sword into his hand. And I will break the arms of Pharaoh. And they will groan acutely, when they are slain before his face.
25 Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, mais les bras de Pharaon tomberont. Et l'on saura queje suis Yahvé, quand je mettrai mon épée dans les mains du roi de Babylone et qu'il la brandira contre le paysd'Egypte.	25 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And the arms of Pharaoh will fall. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have given my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and when he will have extended it over the land of Egypt.
26 Je disséminerai les Egyptiens parmi les nations, je les disperserai dans les pays, et l'on saura queje suis Yahvé.	26 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
