Lévitique 17

1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:	1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Parle à Aaron, à ses fils et à tous les Israélites. Tu leur diras: Voici l'ordre qu'a donné Yahvé:	2 Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, saying to them: This is the word, which the Lord has commanded, saying:
3 Tout homme de la maison d'Israël qui, dans le camp ou hors du camp, immolera taureau, agneauou chèvre,	3 Any man at all of the house of Israel, if he will have killed an ox, or a sheep, or a goat in the camp or beyond the camp,
4 sans l'amener à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous pour en faire offrande à Yahvé devant sademeure, cet homme répondra du sang répandu, il sera retranché du milieu de son peuple.	4 and not have presented it as an oblation to the Lord at the door of the tabernacle, he shall be guilty of blood. It is just as if he had shed blood; so then, he shall perish from the midst of his people.
5 Ainsi les Israélites apporteront au prêtre pour Yahvé, à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous, lessacrifices qu'ils voudraient faire dans la campagne, et ils en feront pour Yahvé des sacrifices de communion.	5 Therefore, the sons of Israel must offer to the priest their victims, which they kill in the field, so that they may be sanctified to the Lord before the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and so that they may immolate them as peace offerings to the Lord.
6 Le prêtre versera le sang sur l'autel de Yahvé qui se trouve à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vouset il fera fumer la graisse en parfum d'apaisement pour Yahvé.	6 And the priest shall pour the blood upon the altar of the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and he shall burn the fat as a sweet odor to the Lord.
7 Ils n'offriront plus leurs sacrifices à ces satyres à la suite desquels ils se prostituaient. C'est uneloi perpétuelle que celle-ci, pour eux et leurs descendants.	7 And they shall no longer immolate their victims to demons, with whom they have committed fornication. It shall be an everlasting ordinance for them and for their posterity.
8 Tu leur diras encore: Tout homme de la maison d'Israël ou tout étranger résidant parmi vous quioffre un holocauste ou un sacrifice	8 And you shall say to them: The man of the house of Israel, or of the newcomers who sojourn with you, who offers a holocaust or a victim,
9 sans l'apporter à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous pour l'offrir à Yahvé, cet homme seraretranché de sa race.	9 and who does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, so that it may be offered to the Lord, shall pass away from his people.
10 Tout homme de la maison d'Israël ou tout étranger résidant parmi vous qui mangera du sang,n'importe quel sang, je me tournerai contre celui-là qui aura mangé ce sang, et je le retrancherai du milieu de sonpeuple.	10 Any man at all of the house of Israel, or of the newcomers who sojourn among them, if he has eaten blood, I will harden my face against his soul, and I will drive him from his people.
11 Oui, la vie de la chair est dans le sang. Ce sang, je vous l'ai donné, moi, pour faire sur l'autel lerite d'expiation pour vos vies; car c'est le sang qui expie pour une vie.	11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you, so that you may atone with it upon the altar for your souls, and so that the blood may be for an expiation of the soul.
12 Voilà pourquoi j'ai dit aux enfants d'Israël: "Nul d'entre vous ne mangera de sang et l'étrangerqui réside parmi vous ne mangera pas de sang."	12 For this reason, I have said to the sons of Israel: No soul among you shall eat blood, nor among the newcomers who sojourn with you.
13 Quiconque, enfant d'Israël ou étranger résidant parmi vous, prendra à la chasse un gibier, bêteou oiseau qu'il est permis de manger, en devra répandre le sang et le recouvrir de terre.	13 Any man at all from the sons of Israel, or from the newcomers who sojourn with you, whether by hunting or bird-catching, if he seizes a wild beast or a bird, which is lawful to eat, let him pour out its blood and cover the earth with it.
14 Car la vie de toute chair, c'est son sang, et j'ai dit aux Israélites: "Vous ne mangerez du sangd'aucune chair car la vie de toute chair, c'est son sang, et quiconque en mangera sera supprimé."	14 For the life of all flesh is in the blood. Therefore, I said to the sons of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any flesh at all, because the life of the flesh is in the blood, and whoever has eaten it shall perish.
15 Quiconque, citoyen ou étranger, mangera une bête morte ou déchirée, devra nettoyer sesvêtements et se laver avec de l'eau; il sera impur jusqu'au soir, puis il sera pur.	15 The soul who eats what has died on its own, or what has been caught by a beast, whether he is native born or a newcomer, shall wash his clothes and himself with water, and he shall be contaminated until evening. And by this means he shall be made clean.
16 Mais s'il ne les nettoie pas et ne se lave pas le corps, il portera le poids de sa faute.	16 But if he will not wash his clothes and his body, he shall bear his iniquity.
