Lévitique 1

JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Yahvé appela Moïse et, de la Tente du Rendez-vous, lui parla et lui dit:	1 The LORD called Moses, and from the meeting tent gave him this message:
2 Parle aux Israélites; tu leur diras: Quand l'un de vous présentera une offrande à Yahvé, vouspourrez faire cette offrande en bétail, gros ou petit.	2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any one of you wishes to bring an animal offering to the LORD, such an offering must be from the herd or from the flock.
3 Si son offrande consiste en un holocauste de gros bétail, il offrira un mâle sans défaut; il l'offrira àl'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous, pour qu'il soit agréé devant Yahvé.	3 "If his holocaust offering is from the herd, it must be a male without blemish. To find favor with the LORD, he shall bring it to the entrance of the meeting tent
4 Il posera la main sur la tête de la victime et celle-ci sera agréée pour que l'on fasse sur lui le rited'expiation.	4 and there lay his hand on the head of the holocaust, so that it may be acceptable to make atonement for him.
5 Puis il immolera le taureau devant Yahvé, et les fils d'Aaron, les prêtres, offriront le sang. Ils leferont couler sur le pourtour de l'autel qui se trouve à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous.	5 He shall then slaughter the bull before the LORD, but Aaron's sons, the priests, shall offer up its blood by splashing it on the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the meeting tent.
6 Il écorchera ensuite la victime, la dépècera par quartiers,	6 Then he shall skin the holocaust and cut it up into pieces.
7 les fils d'Aaron, les prêtres, apporteront du feu sur l'autel et disposeront du bois sur ce feu.	7 After Aaron's sons, the priests, have put some burning embers on the altar and laid some wood on them,
8 Puis les fils d'Aaron, les prêtres, disposeront quartiers, tête et graisse au-dessus du bois placé surle feu de l'autel.	8 they shall lay the pieces of meat, together with the head and the suet, on top of the wood and embers on the altar.
9 L'homme lavera dans l'eau les entrailles et les pattes et le prêtre fera fumer le tout à l'autel. Cetholocauste sera un mets consumé en parfum d'apaisement pour Yahvé.	9 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. The priest shall then burn the whole offering on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
10 Si son offrande consiste en petit bétail, agneau ou chevreau offert en holocauste, c'est un mâlesans défaut qu'il offrira.	10 "If his holocaust offering is from the flock, that is, a sheep or a goat, he must bring a male without blemish.
11 Il l'immolera sur le côté nord de l'autel, devant Yahvé, et les fils d'Aaron, les prêtres, ferontcouler le sang sur le pourtour de l'autel.	11 This he shall slaughter before the LORD at the north side of the altar. Then Aaron's sons, the priests, shall splash its blood on the sides of the altar.
12 Puis il le dépècera par quartiers et le prêtre disposera ceux-ci, ainsi que la tête et la graisse, au-dessus du bois placé sur le feu de l'autel.	12 When the offerer has cut it up into pieces, the priest shall lay these, together with the head and suet, on top of the wood and the fire on the altar.
13 L'homme lavera dans l'eau les entrailles et les pattes et le prêtre offrira le tout qu'il fera fumer àl'autel. Cet holocauste sera un mets consumé en parfum d'apaisement pour Yahvé.	13 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. 14 Si son offrande à Yahvé consiste en un holocauste d'oiseau, il offrira une tourterelle ou unpigeon.	14 "If he offers a bird as a holocaust to the LORD, he shall choose a turtledove or a pigeon as his offering.
15 Le prêtre l'offrira à l'autel, et, en pinçant le cou, il arrachera la tête qu'il fera fumer à l'autel; puisle sang en sera exprimé sur la paroi de l'autel.	15 Having brought it to the altar where it is to be burned, the priest shall snap its head loose and squeeze out its blood against the side of the altar.
16 Il en détachera alors le jabot et le plumage; il les jettera du côté est de l'autel, à l'endroit où l'ondépose les cendres grasses.	16 Its crop and feathers shall be removed and thrown on the ash heap at the east side of the altar.
17 Il fendra l'animal en deux moitiés, une aile de part et d'autre, mais sans les séparer. Le prêtre feraalors fumer l'animal à l'autel, sur le bois placé sur le feu. Cet holocauste sera un mets consumé en parfumd'apaisement pour Yahvé.	17 Then, having split the bird down the middle without separating the halves, the priest shall burn it on the altar, over the wood on the fire, as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
