| 1 Quel est donc celui-ci qui vient d'Edom, de Boçra en habits éclatants, magnifiquement drapé dans sonmanteau, s'avançant dans la plénitude de sa force? "C'est moi qui parle avec justice, qui suis puissant poursauver" -- | 1 Who is this that comes from Edom, in crimsoned garments from Bozrah, he that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I, announcing vindication, mighty to save." |
| 2 Pourquoi ce rouge à ton manteau, pourquoi es-tu vêtu comme celui qui foule au pressoir? -- | 2 Why is thy apparel red, and thy garments like his that treads in the wine press? |
| 3 A la cuve j'ai foulé solitaire, et des gens de mon peuple pas un n'était avec moi. Alors je les ai foulésdans ma colère, je les ai piétinés dans ma fureur, leur sang a giclé sur mes habits, et j'ai taché tous mesvêtements. | 3 "I have trodden the wine press alone, and from the peoples no one was with me; I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath; their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. |
| 4 Car j'ai au coeur un jour de vengeance, c'est l'année de ma rétribution qui vient. | 4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and my year of redemption has come. |
| 5 Je regarde: personne pour m'aider! Je montre mon angoisse: personne pour me soutenir! Alors monbras est venu à mon secours, c'est ma fureur qui m'a soutenu. | 5 I looked, but there was no one to help; I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold; so my own arm brought me victory, and my wrath upheld me. |
| 6 J'ai écrasé les peuples dans ma colère, je les ai brisés dans ma fureur, et j'ai fait ruisseler à terre leursang." | 6 I trod down the peoples in my anger, I made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth." |
| 7 Je vais célébrer les grâces de Yahvé, les louanges de Yahvé, pour tout ce que Yahvé a accompli pournous, pour sa grande bonté envers la maison d'Israël, pour tout ce qu'il a accompli dans sa miséricorde, pourl'abondance de ses grâces. | 7 I will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel which he has granted them according to his mercy, according to the abundance of his steadfast love. |
| 8 Car il dit: "Certes, c'est mon peuple, des enfants qui ne vont pas me tromper"; et il fut pour eux unsauveur. | 8 For he said, Surely they are my people, sons who will not deal falsely; and he became their Savior. |
| 9 Dans toutes leurs angoisses, ce n'est pas un messager ou un ange, c'est sa face qui les a sauvés. Dansson amour et sa pitié, c'est lui qui les a rachetés, il s'est chargé d'eux et les a portés, tous les jours du passé. | 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. |
| 10 Mais eux, ils se sont révoltés et ils ont irrité son Esprit saint. C'est alors qu'il les a pris en aversion etqu'il les a lui-même combattus. | 10 But they rebelled and grieved his holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. |
| 11 Mais il s'est souvenu des jours d'autrefois, de Moïse, son serviteur. Où est-il, celui qui les sauva de lamer, le pasteur de son troupeau? Où est celui qui mettait au milieu d'eux son Esprit saint? | 11 Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses his servant. Where is he who brought up out of the sea the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his holy Spirit, |
| 12 Celui qui accompagna la droite de Moïse de son bras glorieux, qui fendit les eaux devant eux pour sefaire un renom éternel; | 12 who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name, |
| 13 qui les fit passer par les abîmes, comme un cheval passe dans le désert; ils ne trébuchèrent pas plus | 13 who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the desert, they did not stumble. |
| 14 qu'une bête qui descend dans la vallée; l'Esprit de Yahvé les menait au repos. Ainsi as-tu conduit tonpeuple pour te faire un nom glorieux. | 14 Like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So thou didst lead thy people, to make for thyself a glorious name. |
| 15 Regarde du ciel et vois, depuis ta demeure sainte et glorieuse. Où sont ta jalousie et ta puissance? Lefrémissement de tes entrailles et ta piété pour moi se sont-ils contenus? | 15 Look down from heaven and see, from thy holy and glorious habitation. Where are thy zeal and thy might? The yearning of thy heart and thy compassion are withheld from me. |
| 16 Pourtant tu es notre père. Si Abraham ne nous a pas reconnus, si Israël ne se souvient plus de nous,toi, Yahvé, tu es notre père, notre rédempteur, tel est ton nom depuis toujours. | 16 For thou art our Father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not acknowledge us; thou, O LORD, art our Father, our Redeemer from of old is thy name. |
| 17 Pourquoi, Yahvé, nous laisser errer loin de tes voies et endurcir nos coeurs en refusant ta crainte?Reviens, à cause de tes serviteurs et des tribus de ton héritage. | 17 O LORD, why dost thou make us err from thy ways and harden our heart, so that we fear thee not? Return for the sake of thy servants, the tribes of thy heritage. |
| 18 Pour bien peu de temps ton peuple saint a joui de son héritage; nos ennemis ont piétiné tonsanctuaire. | 18 Thy holy people possessed thy sanctuary a little while; our adversaries have trodden it down. |
| 19 Nous sommes, depuis longtemps, des gens sur qui tu ne règnes plus et qui ne portent plus ton nom.Ah! si tu déchirais les cieux et descendais -- devant ta face les montagnes seraient ébranlées; | 19 We have become like those over whom thou hast never ruled, like those who are not called by thy name. |
