Deuxième livre des Chroniques 1

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Salomon, fils de David, s'affermit sur son trône. Yahvé son Dieu était avec lui et porta au faîte sa grandeur.	1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Salomon parla alors à tout Israël, aux officiers de milliers et de centaines, aux juges et à tousles princes de tout Israël, chefs de famille.	2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3 Puis, avec toute l'assemblée, Salomon se rendit au haut lieu de Gabaôn où se trouvait en effetla Tente du Rendez-vous de Dieu, faite dans le désert par Moïse, serviteur de Yahvé;	3 So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
4 mais David avait fait monter l'arche de Dieu de Qiryat-Yéarim jusqu'à l'endroit qu'il avaitpréparé pour elle: il lui avait en effet dressé une tente à Jérusalem.	4 But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 L'autel de bronze qu'avait fait Beçaléel, fils de Uri, fils de Hur, était là devant la Demeure deYahvé où Salomon et l'assemblée venaient le consulter.	5 Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6 C'est là que Salomon, en présence de Dieu, monta à l'autel de bronze qui était attenant à laTente du Rendez-vous et il y offrit mille holocaustes.	6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 La nuit même, Dieu se montra à Salomon et lui dit: "Demande ce que je dois te donner."	7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 Salomon répondit à Dieu: "Tu as témoigné une grande bienveillance à David mon père et tum'as établi roi à sa place.	8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Yahvé Dieu, la promesse que tu as faite à mon père David s'accomplit maintenant puisque tum'as établi roi sur un peuple aussi nombreux que la poussière de la terre.	9 Now , O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Donne-moi donc à présent sagesse et savoir pour agir en chef à la tête de ce peuple, car quipourrait gouverner un peuple aussi grand que le tien?"	10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 Dieu dit à Salomon: "Puisque tel est ton désir, puisque tu n'as demandé ni richesse, ni trésors,ni gloire, ni la vie de tes ennemis, puisque tu n'as pas même demandé de longs jours, mais sagesse et savoir pourgouverner mon peuple dont je t'ai établi roi,	11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 la sagesse et le savoir te sont donnés. Je te donne aussi richesse, trésors et gloire comme n'eneut aucun des rois qui t'ont précédé et comme n'en auront point ceux qui viendront après toi."	12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13 Salomon quitta le haut lieu de Gabaôn pour Jérusalem, loin de la Tente du Rendez-vous; ilrégna sur Israël.	13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 Il rassembla des chars et des chevaux; il eut 1.400 chars et 1.200 chevaux, et il les cantonnadans les villes des chars et près du roi à Jérusalem.	14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 Le roi fit que l'argent et l'or étaient aussi communs à Jérusalem que les cailloux, et les cèdresaussi nombreux que les sycomores du Bas-Pays.	15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16 Les chevaux de Salomon étaient importés de Muçur et de Cilicie; les courtiers du roi enprenaient livraison en Cilicie à prix d'argent.	16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17 Ils s'en allaient aussi importer d'Egypte des chars à 600 sicles l'unité; un cheval en valait 150;il en était de même pour tous les rois des Hittites et les rois d'Aram qui les importaient par leur entremise.	17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
18 Salomon ordonna de bâtir une maison au nom de Yahvé et une autre pour y régner lui-même.
