Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core. | 1 In finem, filiis Core. Psalmus. |
How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host! | 2 Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam ; avertisti captivitatem Jacob. |
my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God. | 3 Remisisti iniquitatem plebis tuæ ; operuisti omnia peccata eorum. |
For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God. | 4 Mitigasti omnem iram tuam ; avertisti ab ira indignationis tuæ. |
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever. | 5 Converte nos, Deus salutaris noster, et averte iram tuam a nobis. |
Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps, | 6 Numquid in æternum irasceris nobis ? aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem ? |
in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set. | 7 Deus, tu conversus vivificabis nos, et plebs tua lætabitur in te. |
For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion. | 8 Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam, et salutare tuum da nobis. |
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. | 9 Audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus, quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam, et super sanctos suos, et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor. |
Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ. | 10 Verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius, ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra. |
For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners. | 11 Misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi ; justitia et pax osculatæ sunt. |
For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory. | 12 Veritas de terra orta est, et justitia de cælo prospexit. |
He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. | 13 Etenim Dominus dabit benignitatem, et terra nostra dabit fructum suum. |
Justitia ante eum ambulabit, et ponet in via gressus suos. |
