Lettera ai Filippesi 2

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se dunque vi è alcuna consolazione in Cristo, se alcun conforto di carità, se alcuna comunione di Spirito, se alcune viscere e misericordie,	1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,
2 rendete compiuta la mia allegrezza, avendo un medesimo sentimento, ed una medesima carità; essendo d’un animo, sentendo una stessa cosa;	2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.
3 non facendo nulla per contenzione, o vanagloria; ma per umiltà, ciascun di voi pregiando altrui più che sè stesso.	3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,
4 Non riguardate ciascuno al suo proprio, ma ciascuno riguardi eziandio all’altrui.	4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.
5 Perciocchè conviene che in voi sia il medesimo sentimento, il quale ancora è stato in Cristo Gesù.	5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
6 Il quale, essendo in forma di Dio, non reputò rapina l’essere uguale a Dio.	6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.
7 E pure annichilò sè stesso, presa forma di servo, fatto alla somiglianza degli uomini;	7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,
8 e trovato nell’esteriore simile ad un uomo, abbassò sè stesso, essendosi fatto ubbidiente infino alla morte, e la morte della croce.	8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.
9 Per la qual cosa ancora Iddio lo ha sovranamente innalzato, e gli ha donato un nome, che è sopra ogni nome;	9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;
10 acciocchè nel nome di Gesù si pieghi ogni ginocchio delle creature celesti, e terrestri, e sotterranee;	10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus
11 e che ogni lingua confessi che Gesù Cristo è il Signore, alla gloria di Dio Padre	11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Perciò, cari miei, come sempre mi avete ubbidito, non sol come nella mia presenza, ma ancora molto più al presente nella mia assenza, compiete la vostra salute con timore, e tremore.	12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.
13 Poichè Iddio è quel che opera in voi il volere e l’operare, per il suo beneplacito	13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
14 Fate ogni cosa senza mormorii, e quistioni;	14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining
15 acciocchè siate irreprensibili, e sinceri, figliuoli di Dio senza biasimo, in mezzo della perversa e storta generazione, fra la quale risplendete come luminari nel mondo, portando innanzi a quella la parola della vita;	15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,
16 acciocchè io abbia di che gloriarmi nel giorno di Cristo, ch’io non son corso in vano, nè in vano ho faticato.	16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.
17 E se pure anche sono, a guisa d’offerta da spandere, sparso sopra l’ostia e il sacrificio della fede vostra, io ne gioisco, e ne congioisco con tutti voi.	17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-
18 Gioitene parimente voi, e congioitene meco.	18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.
19 OR io spero nel Signore Gesù di mandarvi tosto Timoteo, acciocchè io ancora, avendo saputo lo stato vostro, sia inanimato.	19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.
20 Perciocchè io non ho alcuno d’animo pari a lui, il quale sinceramente abbia cura de’ fatti vostri.	20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;
21 Poichè tutti cercano il lor proprio, non ciò che è di Cristo Gesù.	21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.
22 Ma voi conoscete la prova d’esso; come egli ha servito meco nell’evangelo, nella maniera che un figliuolo serve al padre.	22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.
23 Io spero adunque mandarlo, subito che avrò veduto come andranno i fatti miei.	23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;
24 Or io ho fidanza nel Signore ch’io ancora tosto verrò.	24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.
25 Ma ho stimato necessario di mandarvi Epafrodito, mio fratello, e compagno d’opera, e di milizia, e vostro apostolo, e ministro de’ miei bisogni.	25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;
26 Perciocchè egli desiderava molto vedervi tutti; ed era angosciato per ciò che avevate udito ch’egli era stato infermo.	26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .
27 Perciocchè certo egli è stato infermo, ben vicin della morte; ma Iddio ha avuta pietà di lui; e non solo di lui, ma di me ancora, acciocchè io non avessi tristizia sopra tristizia.	27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.
28 Perciò vie più diligentemente l’ho mandato, acciocchè, veggendolo, voi vi rallegriate di nuovo, e ch’io stesso sia men contristato.	28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.
29 Accoglietelo adunque nel Signore con ogni allegrezza, ed abbiate tali in istima.	29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 Perciocchè egli è stato ben presso della morte per l’opera di Cristo, avendo esposta a rischio la propria vita, per supplire alla mancanza del vostro servigio inverso me	30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.
