EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Tres días después se celebraron unas bodas en Caná de Galilea, y la madre de Jesús estaba allí.	1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there,
2 Jesús también fue invitado con sus discípulos.	2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited.
3 Y como faltaba vino, la madre de Jesús le dijo: «No tienen vino».	3 And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had al been used, and the mother ofJesus said to him, 'They have no wine.'
4 Jesús le respondió: «Mujer, ¿qué tenemos que ver nosotros? Mi hora no ha llegado todavía».	4 Jesus said, 'Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.'
5 Pero su madre dijo a los sirvientes: «Hagan todo lo que él les diga».	5 His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'
6 Había allí seis tinajas de piedra destinadas a los ritos de purificación de los judíos, que contenían unos cien litros cada una.	6 There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among theJews: each could hold twenty or thirty gal ons.
7 Jesús dijo a los sirvientes: «Llenen de agua estas tinajas». Y las llenaron hasta el borde.	7 Jesus said to the servants, 'Fil the jars with water,' and they fil ed them to the brim.
8 «Saquen ahora, agregó Jesús, y lleven al encargado del banquete». Así lo hicieron.	8 Then he said to them, 'Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.'
9 El encargado probó el agua cambiada en vino y como ignoraba su o rigen, aunque lo sabían los sirvientes que habían sacado el agua, llamó al esposo	9 They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it camefrom -- though the servants who had drawn the water knew -- the president of the feast cal ed the bridegroom
10 y les dijo: «Siempre se sirve primero el buen vino y cuando todos han bebido bien, se trae el de inferior calidad. Tú, en cambio, has guardado el buen vino hasta este momento».	10 and said, 'Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are wel wined; butyou have kept the best wine til now.'
11 Este fue el primero de los signos de Jesús, y lo hizo en Caná de Galilea. Así manifestó su gloria, y sus discípulos creyeron en él.	11 This was the first of Jesus' signs: it was at Cana in Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciplesbelieved in him.
12 Después de esto, descendió a Cafarnaúm con su madre, sus hermanos y sus discípulos, y permanecieron allí unos pocos días.	12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, but theystayed there only a few days.
13 Se acercaba la Pascua de los judíos. Jesús subió a Jerusalén	13 When the time of the Jewish Passover was near Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 y encontró en el Templo a los vendedores de bueyes, ovejas y palomas y a los cambistas sentados delante de sus mesas.	14 and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and doves, and the money changerssitting there.
15 Hizo un látigo de cuerdas y los echó a todos del Templo, junto con sus ovejas y sus bueyes; desparramó las monedas de los cambistas, derribó sus mesas	15 Making a whip out of cord, he drove them al out of the Temple, sheep and cattle as wel , scattered themoney changers' coins, knocked their tables over
16 y dijo a los vendedores de palomas: «Saquen esto de aquí y no hagan de la casa de mi Padre una casa de comercio».	16 and said to the dove sel ers, 'Take all this out of here and stop using my Father's house as a market.'
17 Y sus discípulos recordaron las palabras de la Escritura: El celo por tu Casa me consumirá.	17 Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: I am eaten up with zeal for your house.
18 Entonces los judíos le preguntaron: «¿Qué signo nos das para obrar así?».	18 The Jews intervened and said, 'What sign can you show us that you should act like this?'
19 Jesús les respondió: «Destruyan este templo y en tres días lo volveré a levantar».	19 Jesus answered, 'Destroy this Temple, and in three days I will raise it up.'
20 Los judíos le dijeron: «Han sido necesarios cuarenta y seis años para construir este Templo, ¿y tú lo vas a levantar en tres días?».	20 The Jews replied, 'It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple: are you going to raise it up again inthree days?'
21 Pero él se refería al templo de su cuerpo.	21 But he was speaking of the Temple that was his body,
22 Por eso, cuando Jesús resucitó, sus discípulos recordaron que él había dicho esto, y creyeron en la Escritura y en la palabra que había pronunciado.	22 and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believedthe scripture and what he had said.
23 Mientras estaba en Jerusalén, durante la fiesta de Pascua, muchos creyeron en su Nombre al ver los signos que realizaba.	23 During his stay in Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover many believed in his name when they sawthe signs that he did,
24 Pero Jesús no se fiaba de ellos, porque los conocía a todos	24 but Jesus knew al people and did not trust himself to them;
25 y no necesitaba que lo informaran acerca de nadie: él sabía lo que hay en el interior del hombre.	25 he never needed evidence about anyone; he could tell what someone had within.
