| 1 Et il me dit : Fils de (d'un) l'homme, mange tout ce que tu trouveras ; mange ce livre, et va parler aux enfants d'Israël. | 1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. |
| 2 J'ouvris la bouche, et il me fit manger ce livre ; | 2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. |
| 3 et il me dit : Fils de (d'un) l'homme, ton ventre mangera ce livre que je te donne, et tes entrailles en seront remplies. Je le mangeai, et il fut dans ma bouche doux comme du miel. | 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. |
| 4 Et il me dit : Fils de (d'un) l'homme, va vers la maison d'Israël, et tu leur diras mes paroles. | 4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. |
| 5 Car ce n'est pas vers un peuple d'un langage obscur (profond) et d'une langue inconnue que je t'envoie, mais vers la maison d'Israël. | 5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; |
| 6 Ce n'est pas vers des peuples nombreux, d'un langage obscur (profond) et d'une langue inconnue, dont tu ne puisses entendre les discours ; et pourtant, si je t'envoyais vers eux, ils t'écouteraient. | 6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee. |
| 7 Mais la maison d'Israël ne veut pas t'écouter, parce qu'elle ne veut pas m'écouter ; car toute la maison d'Israël a un front d'airain et un cœur endurci. | 7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. |
| 8 Mais voici que j'ai rendu ton visage plus ferme que leurs visages, et ton front plus dur que leurs fronts. | 8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. |
| 9 Je t'ai donné un front semblable au diamant et au caillou (à la pierre). Ne les crains pas et ne t'effraye pas devant eux, car c'est une maison qui m'irrite (exaspère). | 9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. |
| 10 Et il me dit : Fils de l'homme, reçois dans ton cœur toutes les paroles que je te dis, et écoute-les de tes oreilles ; | 10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. |
| 11 et va, pénètre auprès des déportés, auprès des enfants de ton peuple ; tu leur parleras, et tu leur diras : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu ; peut-être écouteront-ils et cesseront-ils de pécher (ils y manqueront). | 11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. |
| 12 Alors (un) l'esprit m'enleva, et j'entendis derrière moi une voix disant avec un grand tumulte : Bénie soit la gloire du Seigneur, du lieu où il réside. | 12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place. |
| 13 J'entendis aussi le bruit des ailes des animaux, qui frappaient l'une contre l'autre, et le bruit des roues qui suivaient les animaux, et le bruit d'un grand tumulte. | 13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing. |
| 14 (Un) L'esprit m'éleva aussi (donc) et m'emporta, et je m'en allai plein d'amertume, dans l'indignation de mon esprit ; mais la main du Seigneur était avec moi, me fortifiant. | 14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. |
| 15 Et je vins vers les déportés, au lieu nommé Amas des nouvelles moissons (près d'un tas de nouveaux fruits), vers ceux qui demeuraient près du fleuve (de) Chobar. Je m'assis où ils étaient assis, et je demeurai là sept jours, désolé (triste), au milieu d'eux. | 15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days. |
| 16 Après que les sept jours furent passés, la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes : | 16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, |
| 17 Fils de (d'un) l'homme, je t'ai donné pour sentinelle à la maison d'Israël ; tu écouteras la parole de ma bouche, et tu la leur annonceras de ma part. | 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. |
| 18 Si je dis à l'impie : Tu mourras (de mort, note), et que tu ne le lui annonces pas et que tu ne lui parles pas, afin qu'il se détourne de sa voie impie et qu'il vive, cet impie mourra dans son iniquité ; mais je redemanderai son sang à ta main. | 18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. |
| 19 Mais si tu avertis l'impie, et qu'il ne se détourne pas de son impiété et de sa voie mauvaise, (à la vérité,) il mourra dans son iniquité ; mais toi, tu auras délivré ton âme. | 19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. |
| 20 Et si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l'iniquité, je mettrai devant lui une pierre d'achoppement ; il mourra parce que tu ne l'as pas averti, il mourra dans son péché, et la mémoire de toutes les actions de justice qu'il a faites sera effacée ; mais je (te) redemanderai son sang à ta main (son sang). | 20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. |
| 21 Si tu avertis le juste, afin qu'il ne pèche pas, et s'il ne pèche pas, (vivant,) il vivra parce que tu l'auras averti ; et toi, tu (aur)as délivré ton âme. | 21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. |
| 22 Alors la main du Seigneur fut sur moi, et il me dit : Lève-toi, va dans la plaine (campagne), et là je te parlerai. | 22 And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee. |
| 23 Je me levai, et j'allai dans la plaine ; et voici, là était la gloire du Seigneur, telle que je l'avais vue près du fleuve (de) Chobar ; et je tombai sur ma face. | 23 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face. |
| 24 Et (un) l'esprit entra en moi, et me mit debout sur mes pieds ; et il me parla et me dit : Va, et enferme-toi au milieu de ta maison. | 24 Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house. |
| 25 Pour toi, fils de (d'un) l'homme, voici qu'on te mettra des liens ; ils t'en lieront, et tu ne sortiras pas du milieu d'eux. | 25 But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them: |
| 26 Je ferai adhérer ta langue à ton palais, et tu seras muet, et pas comme un homme qui reprend les autres, car c'est une maison qui m'irrite (exaspère). | 26 And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house. |
| 27 Mais lorsque je t'aurai parlé, j'ouvrirai ta bouche, et tu leur diras : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Que celui qui écoute, écoute ; que celui qui se repose (y manque), se repose (y manque) ; car c'est une maison qui m'irrite (exaspère). | 27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house. |
