| 1 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur : Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre l'escabeau de mes pieds. Quelle est cette maison que vous me bâtirez, et quel est ce lieu de mon repos ? | 1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? |
| 2 C'est ma main qui a fait tout cela, et toutes ces choses ont été créées, dit le Seigneur ; mais qui regarderai-je, sinon le pauvre, et celui qui a le cœur brisé (l'esprit contrit), et qui craint mes paroles ? | 2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. |
| 3 Celui qui immole un bœuf est comme celui qui tuerait un homme ; celui qui sacrifie un agneau (une bête de menu bétail) est comme celui qui assommerait (ôterait la cervelle à) un chien ; celui qui présente une offrande (oblation) est comme celui qui offrirait le sang d'un pourceau, et celui qui se souvient de (brûler de) l'encens est comme celui qui révérerait une idole. Ils ont pris plaisir et se sont habitués à toutes ces choses (ont choisi toutes ces choses dans leurs voies), et leur âme a fait ses délices de ces abominations. | 3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. |
| 4 Moi aussi, je prendrai plaisir à me moquer d'eux, et je ferai venir sur eux ce qu'ils craignaient ; car j'ai appelé, et personne n'a répondu ; j'ai parlé, et ils n'ont pas entendu (écouté) ; (mais) ils ont fait le mal devant mes yeux, et ils ont choisi ce que je ne voulais pas. | 4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. |
| 5 Ecoutez la parole du Seigneur, vous qui l'écoutez avec tremblement. Vos frères qui vous haïssent et qui vous rejettent à cause de mon nom ont dit : Que le Seigneur montre sa gloire, et nous (le) verrons (à) votre joie ; mais ils seront eux-mêmes confondus. | 5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. |
| 6 Voix du peuple qui retentit de la ville, voix qui vient du temple, voix du Seigneur qui rend à ses ennemis ce qu'ils méritent. | 6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies. |
| 7 Avant d'être en travail elle a enfanté ; avant le temps de l'enfantement, elle a mis au monde un enfant mâle. | 7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. |
| 8 Qui a jamais entendu pareille chose ? qui a jamais rien vu de semblable ? La terre produit-elle son fruit (engendrera-t-elle) en un seul jour, un peuple est-il engendré en même temps ? Car Sion, à peine en travail, a enfanté (tous) ses fils. | 8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. |
| 9 Moi qui fais enfanter les autres n'enfanterai-je pas aussi ? dit le Seigneur ; moi qui donne aux autres la fécondité (génération), demeurerai-je stérile ? dit le Seigneur ton Dieu. | 9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. |
| 10 Réjouissez-vous avec Jérusalem, et soyez dans l'allégresse avec elle, vous tous qui l'aimez ; joignez votre joie à la sienne, vous tous qui pleurez sur elle ; | 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: |
| 11 afin que vous suciez et que vous tiriez de ses mamelles le lait de ses consolations, (afin que vous tétiez) et que vous savouriez avec délices la plénitude de sa gloire (infinie). | 11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. |
| 12 Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur : Je ferai couler sur elle comme un fleuve de paix, et la gloire des nations comme un torrent qui déborde ; (laquelle) vous sucerez (;) (son lait,) on vous portera à la mamelle, et on vous caressera sur les genoux. | 12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. |
| 13 Comme quelqu'un que sa mère caresse, ainsi je vous consolerai, et vous serez consolés dans Jérusalem. | 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. |
| 14 Vous le verrez, et votre cœur sera dans la joie, et vos os reprendront de la vigueur (germeront) comme l'herbe ; et le Seigneur fera connaître sa main puissante à (et l'on connaîtra que la main du Seigneur est avec) ses serviteurs, et il s'irritera (sera indigné) contre ses ennemis. | 14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. |
| 15 Car le Seigneur viendra dans un (le) feu, et son char sera comme un tourbillon (la tempête), pour répandre son indignation, sa fureur et ses menaces (reproches) en flammes de feu ; | 15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. |
| 16 car c'est par le feu que le Seigneur jugera, et par son glaive qu'il châtiera toute chair ; et ceux que le Seigneur tuera seront (bien) nombreux. | 16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. |
| 17 Ceux qui se sanctifiaient et qui croyaient se purifier dans le(ur)s jardins, la porte fermée, qui mangeaient de la chair de porc, des choses abominables et des souris (rats), périront tous ensemble, dit le Seigneur. | 17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. |
| 18 Mais moi, je viens recueillir leurs œuvres et leurs pensées, et les assembler avec toutes les nations et toutes les langues ; ils viendront, et ils verront ma gloire. | 18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. |
| 19 Je mettrai un signe (poserai un étendard) parmi eux, et j'enverrai de ceux d'entre eux qui auront été sauvés vers les nations, du côté de la mer, dans l'Afrique et la Lydie, chez ceux qui sont armés de flèches, dans l'Italie et la Grèce, dans les îles lointaines, vers ceux qui n'ont jamais (pas) entendu parler de moi, et qui n'ont pas vu ma gloire. Ils annonceront ma gloire aux gentils (nations) ; | 19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. |
| 20 et ils amèneront tous vos frères du milieu de toutes les nations, comme un présent pour le Seigneur, sur des chevaux, sur des chars, sur des litières, sur des mulets et sur des chariots, à ma montagne sainte de Jérusalem, dit le Seigneur ; comme lorsque (si) les enfants d'Israël apport(ai)ent une offrande au temple (dans la maison) du Seigneur dans un vase pur. | 20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. |
| 21 Et j'en choisirai parmi eux pour prêtres et lévites, dit le Seigneur. | 21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. |
| 22 Car comme les cieux nouveaux et la terre nouvelle que je vais créer subsisteront toujours devant moi, dit le Seigneur, ainsi subsisteront votre race et votre nom. | 22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. |
| 23 Et de mois en mois, et de sabbat en sabbat, toute chair viendra se prosterner devant moi, dit le Seigneur. | 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. |
| 24 Et ils sortiront, et ils verront les cadavres de ceux qui se sont révoltés (ont prévariqués) contre moi : leur ver ne mourra pas, et leur feu ne s'éteindra pas, et leur vue sera un objet de dégoût (regard jusqu'à satiété) pour toute chair. | 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. |
