| 1 Vous tous qui avez soif, venez aux (vers les) eaux, et vous qui n'avez pas d'argent, hâtez-vous, achetez et mangez ; venez, achetez sans argent et sans aucun échange le (du) vin et le (du) lait. | 1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. |
| 2 Pourquoi employez-vous votre argent à ce qui ne peut nourrir n'est pas du pain), et votre travail à ce qui ne peut rassasier ? Ecoutez-moi bien, et mangez ce qui est bon, et votre âme se délectera de mets savoureux. | 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. |
| 3 Prêtez l'oreille, et venez à moi ; écoutez-moi, et votre âme vivra ; et je conclurai avec vous une alliance éternelle, pour rendre stable la miséricorde promise à David. | 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. |
| 4 Voici que je l'ai donné comme témoin aux peuples, comme maître et comme chef aux nations. | 4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. |
| 5 Tu appelleras une nation que tu ne connaissais pas, et les (des) peuples qui ne te connaissaient pas accourront à toi, à cause du Seigneur ton Dieu et du saint d'Israël, qui t'a glorifié. | 5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. |
| 6 Cherchez le Seigneur pendant qu'on peut le trouver ; invoquez-le pendant qu'il est proche. | 6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: |
| 7 Que l'impie abandonne sa voie et l'homme d'iniquité ses pensées, et qu'il(s) revienne(nt) au Seigneur, car il aura pitié de lui ; et à notre Dieu, parce qu'il est large pour pardonner. | 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. |
| 8 Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et mes voies ne sont pas vos voies, dit le Seigneur. | 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. |
| 9 Mais autant les cieux sont élevés au-dessus de la terre, autant mes voies sont élevées au-dessus de vos voies, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées. | 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. |
| 10 Et comme la pluie et la neige descendent du ciel et n'y retournent plus, mais qu'elles abreuvent la terre, la fécondent (pénètrent) et la font germer, et qu'elle donne la semence au semeur, et le pain à celui qui (le) mange ; | 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: |
| 11 ainsi ma parole qui sort de ma bouche ne retournera pas à moi sans fruit (effet) ; mais elle fera tout ce que je veux, et elle produira les effets (choses) pour lesquels je l'ai envoyée. | 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. |
| 12 Car vous sortirez avec joie, et vous serez conduits (ramenés) en paix ; les montagnes et les collines chanteront devant vous des louanges, et tous les arbres du pays battront des mains. | 12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. |
| 13 Au lieu des broussailles (du nard sauvage) le sapin s'élèvera, le myrte croîtra au lieu de l'ortie, et le Seigneur sera nommé comme un signe éternel qui ne sera pas enlevé. | 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. |
