| 1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit: | 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: |
| 2 Ordonnez ceci aux enfants d'Israël, et dites-leur: Lorsque vous serez entrés dans le pays de Chanaan, et que vous y posséderez chacun ce qui vous sera échu par le sort, voici quelles seront vos limites. | 2 Command the children of Israel, and then shalt say to them: When you are entered into the land of Chanaan, and it shall be fallen into your possession by lot, it shall be bounded by these limits: |
| 3 Le côté du midi commencera au désert de Sin, qui est près d'Edom; et il aura pour limites vers l'orient la mer Salée. | 3 The south side shall begin from the wilderness of Sin, which is by Edom: and shall have the most salt sea for its furthest limits eastward: |
| 4 Ces limites du midi seront le long du circuit que fait la montée du Scorpion, elles passeront par Senna, et s'étendront depuis le midi jusqu'à Cadèsbarné. De là elles iront jusqu'au village nommé Adar, et s'étendront jusqu'à Asémona. | 4 Which limits shall go round on the south side by the ascent of the Scorpion and so into Senna, and reach toward the south as far as Cadesbarne, from whence the frontiers shall go out to the town called Adar, and shall reach as far as Asemona. |
| 5 D'Asémona, elles iront en tournant jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte, et elles finiront au bord de la grande mer. | 5 And the limits shall fetch a compass from Asemona to the torrent of Egypt, and shall end in the shore of the great sea. |
| 6 Le côté de l'occident commencera à la grande mer, et s'y terminera pareillement. | 6 And the west side shall begin from the great sea, and the same shall be the end thereof. |
| 7 Les limites du côté du septentrion commenceront à la grande mer, et s'étendront jusqu'à la haute montagne. | 7 But toward the north side the borders shall begin from the great sea, reaching to the most high mountain, |
| 8 De là elles iront vers Emath, jusqu'aux confins de Sédada; | 8 From which they shall come to Emath, as far as the borders of Sedada: |
| 9 et elles s'étendront jusqu'à Zéphrona et au village d'Enan. Ce seront là les limites du côté du septentrion. | 9 nod the limits shall go as far as Zephrona, and the village of Enan. These shall be the borders on the north side. |
| 10 Les limites du côté de l'orient se mesureront depuis ce même village d'Enan jusqu'à Séphama. | 10 From thence they shall mark out the bounds towards the east side from the village of Enan unto Sephama. |
| 11 De Séphama, elles descendront à Rébla, vis-à-vis de la fontaine de Daphnis. De là elles descendront le long de l'orient jusqu'à la mer de Cénéreth, | 11 And from Sephama the bounds shall go down to Rebla over against the fountain of Daphnis: from thence they shall come eastward to the sea of Cenereth, |
| 12 et passeront jusqu'au Jourdain; et elles se termineront enfin à la mer Salée. Voilà quelles seront les limites et l'étendue du pays que vous devez posséder. | 12 And shall reach as far as the Jordan, and at the last shall be closed in by the most salt sea. This shall be your land with its borders round about. |
| 13 Moïse donna donc cet ordre aux enfants d'Israël, et leur dit: Ce sera là la terre que vous posséderez par le sort, et que le Seigneur a commandé que l'on donnât aux neuf tribus et à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé. | 13 And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This shall be the land which you shall possess by lot, and which the Lord hath commanded to be given to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe. |
| 14 Car la tribu des enfants de Ruben avec toutes ses familles, la tribu des enfants de Gad, distinguée aussi selon le nombre de ses familles, et la moitié de la tribu de Manassé, | 14 For the tribe of the children of Ruben by their families, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the number of their kindreds, and half of the tribe of Manasses, |
| 15 c'est-à-dire deux tribus et demie, ont déjà reçu leur partage en deçà du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, du côté de l'orient. | 15 That is, two tribes and a half, have received their portion beyond the Jordan over against Jericho at the east side. |
| 16 Le Seigneur dit aussi à Moïse: | 16 And the Lord said to Moses: |
| 17 Voici les noms de ceux qui partageront la terre entre vous: le grand prêtre Eléazar et Josué, fils de Nun, | 17 These are the names of the men, that shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun, |
| 18 avec un prince de chaque tribu, | 18 And one prince of every tribe, |
| 19 dont voici le nom. De la tribu de Juda, Caleb, fils de Jéphoné. | 19 Whose names are these : Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone. |
| 20 De la tribu de Siméon; Samuel, fils d'Ammiud. | 20 Of the tribe of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammiud. |
| 21 De la tribu de Benjamin, Elidad, fils de Chasélon. | 21 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chaselon. |
| 22 De la tribu des enfants de Dan, Bocci, fils de Jogli. | 22 Of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bocci the son of Jogli. |
| 23 Des enfants de Joseph: de la tribu de Manassé, Hanniel, fils d'Ephod; | 23 Of the children of Joseph of the tribe of Manasses, Hanniel the son of Ephod. |
| 24 et de la tribu d'Ephraïm, Camuel, fils de Sephthan. | 24 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Camuel the son of Sephtan. |
| 25 De la tribu de Zabulon, Elisaphan, fils de Pharnach. | 25 Of the tribe of Zabulon, Elisaphan the son of Pharnach. |
| 26 De la tribu d'Issachar, le prince Phaltiel, fils d'Osan. | 26 Of the tribe of Issachar, Phaltiel the prince, the son of Ozan. |
| 27 De la tribu d'Aser, Ahiud, fils de Salomi. | 27 Of the tribe of Aser, Ahiud the son of Salomi. |
| 28 De la tribu de Nephthali, Phedaël, fils d'Ammiud. | 28 Of the tribe of Nephtali: Phedael the son of Ammiud. |
| 29 Ce sont là ceux à qui le Seigneur a commandé de partager aux enfants d'Israël le pays de Chanaan. | 29 These are they whom the Lord hath commanded to divide the land of Chanaan to the children of Israel,. |
