1 Psaume d’Asaf. Oui, Dieu est bon pour Israël: je le dis pour ceux qui ont le cœur pur.	1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.
2 Pourtant, pour un peu mon pied achoppait, un rien et mes pas glissaient.	2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,
3 J’en étais à envier les gens sans foi car je voyais le bonheur des méchants.	3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Ils ne connaissent pas la souffrance, ils sont bien nourris, leur corps est sain.	4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;
5 La peine de l’homme ne les touche pas, ils ne sont pas éprouvés comme les humains.	5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.
6 De là leur orgueil: ils le portent en collier; la violence est le vêtement qui les couvre,	6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.
7 leur graisse sue la méchanceté et leur cœur déborde d’inventions mauvaises.	7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.
8 Ils ricanent, ils cherchent comment nuire, ils parlent de très haut, et c’est pour tromper.	8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.
9 Ils savent tout du ciel, et la terre pour eux n’a pas de secret.	9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.
10 C’est pourquoi mon peuple penche vers eux, car on ne voit chez eux que réussite.	10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,
11 Et l’on dit: “Dieu voit-il? Le Très-Haut, en a-t-il connaissance?”	11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'
12 Ces gens-là sont mauvais et sans aucun problème ils entassent leurs richesses.	12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.
13 Alors, à quoi bon garder, moi, un cœur pur, et conserver les mains nettes,	13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?
14 si tout le jour je reçois des coups et chaque matin une nouvelle leçon?	14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,
15 Mais comment dire: “Je parlerai leur langage”? Ce serait trahir le parti de tes fils.	15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.
16 Je cherchais à y voir clair, et c’était pour moi chose difficile.	16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!
17 Mais un jour je suis entré dans les secrets de Dieu, et j’ai compris comment ils terminent.	17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.
18 Tu les mets sur un terrain glissant, puis tu les précipites dans l’abîme.	18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.
19 Comment, les voilà ruinés? Comme c’est vite fait! Ils ne sont plus, tout a fini dans l’épouvante.	19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!
20 Comme un songe au réveil, Seigneur, tu t’es réveillé et tu as chassé leur image.	20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.
21 Quand j’étais aigri, aiguillonné par mes ressentiments,	21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,
22 c’était de la bêtise, non de la sagesse, je ne te comprenais guère plus que les bêtes.	22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.
23 Ne suis-je pas en tout temps avec toi? Tu m’as saisi de la main droite,	23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;
24 tu me guides selon ton dessein, et ta Gloire derrière elle m’entraîne.	24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.
25 Que pourrais-je avoir aux cieux, si ce n’est toi, et à part toi, je ne désire rien sur la terre.	25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.
26 Ma chair et mon cœur se consument pour toi, mon Dieu, mon roc, qui es mien à jamais.	26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!
27 Nul doute: qui s’éloigne de toi se perd, tu réduis à rien ceux qui te sont infidèles.	27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,
28 Pour moi rien de meilleur que d’être près de Dieu; j’ai fait du Seigneur mon refuge et je redirai tes œuvres aux portes de Sion.	28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.
