And when the Sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic spices, so that when they arrived they could anoint Jesus.1 Pasado el sábado, María Magdalena, María la de Santiago y Salomé compraron aromas para ir a embalsamarle.
And very early in the morning, on the first of the Sabbaths, they went to the tomb, the sun having now risen.2 Y muy de madrugada, el primer día de la semana, a la salida del sol, van al sepulcro.
And they said to one another, “Who will roll back the stone for us, away from the entrance of the tomb?”3 Se decían unas otras: «¿Quién nos retirará la piedra de la puerta del sepulcro?»
And looking, they saw that the stone was rolled back. For certainly it was very large.4 Y levantando los ojos ven que la piedra estaba ya retirada; y eso que era muy grande.
And upon entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, covered with a white robe, and they were astonished.5 Y entrando en el sepulcro vieron a un joven sentado en el lado derecho, vestido con una túnica blanca, y se asustaron.
And he said to them, “Do not become frightened. You are seeking Jesus of Nazareth, the Crucified One. He has risen. He is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him.6 Pero él les dice: «No os asustéis. Buscáis a Jesús de Nazaret, el Crucificado; ha resucitado, no está aquí. Ved el lugar donde le pusieron.
But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you into Galilee. There you shall see him, just as he told you.”7 Pero id a decir a sus discípulos y a Pedro que irá delante de vosotros a Galilea; allí le veréis, como os dijo».
But they, going out, fled from the tomb. For trembling and fear had overwhelmed them. And they said nothing to anyone. For they were afraid.8 Ellas salieron huyendo del sepulcro, pues un gran temblor y espanto se había apoderado de ellas, y no dijeron nada a nadie porque tenían miedo...
But he, rising early on the first Sabbath, appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.9 Jesús resucitó en la madrugada, el primer día de la semana, y se apareció primero a María Magdalena, de la que había echado siete demonios.
She went and announced it to those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping.10 Ella fue a comunicar la noticia a los que habían vivido con él, que estaban tristes y llorosos.
And they, upon hearing that he was alive and that he had been seen by her, did not believe it.11 Ellos, al oír que vivía y que había sido visto por ella, no creyeron.
But after these events, he was shown in another likeness to two of them walking, as they were going out to the countryside.12 Después de esto, se apareció, bajo otra figura, a dos de ellos cuando iban de camino a una aldea.
And they, returning, reported it to the others; neither did they believe them.13 Ellos volvieron a comunicárselo a los demás; pero tampoco creyeron a éstos.
Finally, he appeared to the eleven, as they sat at table. And he rebuked them for their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen that he had risen again.14 Por último, estando a la mesa los once discípulos, se les apareció y les echó en cara su incredulidad y su dureza de corazón, por no haber creído a quienes le habían visto resucitado.
And he said to them: “Go forth to the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature.15 Y les dijo: «Id por todo el mundo y proclamad la Buena Nueva a toda la creación.
Whoever will have believed and been baptized will be saved. Yet truly, whoever will not have believed will be condemned.16 El que crea y sea bautizado, se salvará; el que no crea, se condenará.
Now these signs will accompany those who believe. In my name, they shall cast out demons. They will speak in new languages.17 Estas son las señales que acompañarán a los que crean: en mi nombre expulsarán demonios, hablarán en lenguas nuevas,
They will take up serpents, and, if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them. They shall lay their hands upon the sick, and they will be well.”18 agarrarán serpientes en sus manos y aunque beban veneno no les hará daño; impondrán las manos sobre los enfermos y se pondrán bien».
And indeed, the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and he sits at the right hand of God.19 Con esto, el Señor Jesús, después de hablarles, fue elevado al cielo y se sentó a la diestra de Dios.
Then they, setting out, preached everywhere, with the Lord cooperating and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.20 Ellos salieron a predicar por todas partes, colaborando el Señor con ellos y confirmando la Palabra con las señales que la acompañaban.
