Proverbs 31

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 The sayings of Lemuel king of Massa, taught him by his mother:	1 - Parole di Lamuele re di Massa, con cui sua madre l'istruì.
2 What, my son! What, son of my womb! What, son of my vows!	2 E che, o mio diletto, e che, diletto delle mie viscere, e che, diletto dei miei voti [ti dirò io]?
3 Do not expend your energy on women nor your wealth on those who ruin kings.	3 Non dare alle donne i tuoi beni, nè le tue ricchezze a ciò ch'è la rovina dei re.
4 Not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings the drinking of wine, not for princes the love of liquor,	4 Ai re no, Lamuele, ai re no non dare vino a bere, perchè non c'è nessun segreto dove regna l'ebrietà;
5 for fear that in liquor they forget what they have decreed and pervert the course of justice against allthe poor.	5 e può accadere che bevano e si dimentichino delle leggi, e tradiscano la causa dei figli del povero.
6 Procure strong drink for someone about to die, wine for him whose heart is heavy:	6 Date da bere agli afflittie vino a quelli che hanno il cuore amareggiato.
7 let him drink and forget his misfortune, and remember his misery no more.	7 Bevano e scordino la loro miseria e il loro travaglio più non rammentino.
8 Make your views heard, on behalf of the dumb, on behalf of al the unwanted;	8 Apri la tua bocca in favore del muto e per la causa di tutti i figli di chi non è più.
9 make your views heard, pronounce an upright verdict, defend the cause of the poor and the wretched.	9 Apri la tua bocca e discerni ciò che è giusto e fa' ragione al bisognoso ed al povero.
10 The truly capable woman -- who can find her? She is far beyond the price of pearls.	10 Una brava donna chi la troverà? ha il pregio delle rarità dei più remoti confini.
11 Her husband's heart has confidence in her, from her he wil derive no little profit.	11 Il cuor di suo marito in lei s'affida e non mancherà di nulla.
12 Advantage and not hurt she brings him al the days of her life.	12 Gli corrisponderà bene e non male, tutti i giorni di sua vita.
13 She selects wool and flax, she does her work with eager hands.	13 Si procacciò la lana ed il lino e lavorò industriandosi colle sue mani.
14 She is like those merchant vessels, bringing her food from far away.	14 Fatta simile alla nave d'un mercante: fa venire da lontano il suo sostentamento.
15 She gets up while it is stil dark giving her household their food, giving orders to her serving girls.	15 S'alza che è ancor notte e appresta il vitto alla sua famiglia ed il cibo alle sue ancelle.
16 She sets her mind on a field, then she buys it; with what her hands have earned she plants avineyard.	16 Avvistò un campo e lo comprò; col frutto delle sue mani, piantò una vigna.
17 She puts her back into her work and shows how strong her arms can be.	17 Cinse di forza i suoi fianchie ingagliardì il suo braccio.
18 She knows that her affairs are going wel ; her lamp does not go out at night.	18 Con gusto vide che i suoi negozi vanno bene; di notte la sua lucerna non si spegnerà.
19 She sets her hands to the distaff, her fingers grasp the spindle.	19 Pone mano a lavori utilie le sue dita strinsero il fuso.
20 She holds out her hands to the poor, she opens her arms to the needy.	20 Allargò la mano al bisognoso e tese le palme al povero.
21 Snow may come, she has no fears for her household, with al her servants warmly clothed.	21 Non teme, per la sua casa, il freddo della neve, perchè tutti di sua famiglia hanno vesti doppie.
22 She makes her own quilts, she is dressed in fine linen and purple.	22 Si è fatta una veste ricamata, è bisso e porpora il suo indumento.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gates, taking his seat among the elders of the land.	23 Il marito alle porte è riverito, quando siede con gli anziani del pa ese.
24 She weaves materials and sel s them, she supplies the merchant with sashes.	24 Lavorò un manto e lo vendette, e una cintura che consegnò al mercante.
25 She is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the day to come.	25 Fortezza e decoro è la sua veste e sorride del giorno avvenire.
26 When she opens her mouth, she does so wisely; on her tongue is kindly instruction.	26 Aprì la sua bocca alla saggezza e sulla sua lingua è la legge della bontà.
27 She keeps good watch on the conduct of her household, no bread of idleness for her.	27 Essa stessa sorveglia gli andamenti di casa sua e non mangia il pane nell'oziosità.
28 Her children stand up and proclaim her blessed, her husband, too, sings her praises:	28 Sorsero i suoi figli e la proclamarono sommamente beata, suo marito anche è un elogio per lei:
29 'Many women have done admirable things, but you surpass them all!'	29 «Molte figliuole raccolsero dovizia, ma tu le hai tutte superate».
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty empty; the woman who fears Yahweh is the one to praise.	30 Fallace è la grazia e vana la beltà; la donna che teme Dio, quella avrà lode.
31 Give her a share in what her hands have worked for, and let her works tel her praises at the citygates.	31 Rendete omaggio al frutto delle sue mani, e le sue azioni la celebrino alle porte.
