KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them.	1 Les âmes des justes sont dans la main de Dieu. Et nul tourment ne les atteindra.
2 In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery,	2 Aux yeux des insensés ils ont paru mourir, leur départ a été tenu pour un malheur
3 And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace.	3 et leur voyage loin de nous pour un anéantissement, mais eux sont en paix.
4 For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.	4 S'ils ont, aux yeux des hommes, subi des châtiments, leur espérance était pleine d'immortalité;
5 And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them, and found them worthy for himself.	5 pour une légère correction ils recevront de grands bienfaits. Dieu en effet les a mis à l'épreuve et illes a trouvés dignes de lui;
6 As gold in the furnace hath he tried them, and received them as a burnt offering.	6 comme l'or au creuset, il les a éprouvés, comme un parfait holocauste, il les a agréés.
7 And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.	7 Au temps de leur visite, ils resplendiront, et comme des étincelles à travers le chaume ils courront.
8 They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord shall reign for ever.	8 Ils jugeront les nations et domineront sur les peuples, et le Seigneur régnera sur eux à jamais.
9 They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth: and such as be faithful in love shall abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his elect.	9 Ceux qui mettent en lui leur confiance comprendront la vérité et ceux qui sont fidèles demeurerontauprès de lui dans l'amour, car la grâce et la miséricorde sont pour ses saints et sa visite est pour ses élus.
10 But the ungodly shall be punished according to their own imaginations, which have neglected the righteous, and forsaken the Lord.	10 Mais les impies auront un châtiment conforme à leurs pensées, eux qui ont négligé le juste et sesont écartés du Seigneur.
11 For whoso despiseth wisdom and nurture, he is miserable, and their hope is vain, their labours unfruitful, and their works unprofitable:	11 Car malheur à qui méprise sagesse et discipline: vaine est leur espérance, sans utilité leursfatigues, sans profit leurs oeuvres;
12 Their wives are foolish, and their children wicked:	12 leurs femmes sont insensées, pervers leurs enfants, maudite leur postérité!
13 Their offspring is cursed. Wherefore blessed is the barren that is undefiled, which hath not known the sinful bed: she shall have fruit in the visitation of souls.	13 Heureuse la femme stérile qui est sans tache, celle qui n'a pas connu d'union coupable; car elleaura du fruit à la visite des âmes.
14 And blessed is the eunuch, which with his hands hath wrought no iniquity, nor imagined wicked things against God: for unto him shall be given the special gift of faith, and an inheritance in the temple of the Lord more acceptable to his mind.	14 Heureux encore l'eunuque dont la main ne commet pas de forfait et qui ne nourrit pas de penséesperverses contre le Seigneur: il lui sera donné pour sa fidélité une grâce de choix, un lot très délicieux dans leTemple du Seigneur.
15 For glorious is the fruit of good labours: and the root of wisdom shall never fall away.	15 Car le fruit de labeurs honnêtes est plein de gloire, impérissable est la racine de l'intelligence.
16 As for the children of adulterers, they shall not come to their perfection, and the seed of an unrighteous bed shall be rooted out.	16 Mais les enfants d'adultères n'atteindront pas leur maturité, la postérité issue d'une union illégitimedisparaîtra.
17 For though they live long, yet shall they be nothing regarded: and their last age shall be without honour.	17 Même si leur vie se prolonge, ils seront comptés pour rien et, à la fin, leur vieillesse sera sanshonneur,
18 Or, if they die quickly, they have no hope, neither comfort in the day of trial.	18 s'ils meurent tôt, ils n'auront pas d'espérance ni de consolation au jour de la Décision,
19 For horrible is the end of the unrighteous generation.	19 car la fin d'une race injuste est cruelle!
