DOUAI-RHEIMSLXX
The words of king Lamuel. The vision wherewith his mother instructed him.1 κρεισσων ανηρ ελεγχων ανδρος σκληροτραχηλου εξαπινης γαρ φλεγομενου αυτου ουκ εστιν ιασις
What, O my beloved, what, O the beloved of my womb, what, O the beloved of my vows?2 εγκωμιαζομενων δικαιων ευφρανθησονται λαοι αρχοντων δε ασεβων στενουσιν ανδρες
Give not thy substance to women, and thy riches to destroy kings.3 ανδρος φιλουντος σοφιαν ευφραινεται πατηρ αυτου ος δε ποιμαινει πορνας απολει πλουτον
Give not to kings, O Lamuel, give not wine to kings: because there is no secret where drunkenness reigneth:4 βασιλευς δικαιος ανιστησιν χωραν ανηρ δε παρανομος κατασκαπτει
And lest they drink and forget judgments, and pervert the cause of the children of the poor.5 ος παρασκευαζεται επι προσωπον του εαυτου φιλου δικτυον περιβαλλει αυτο τοις εαυτου ποσιν
Give strong drink to them that are sad: and wine to them that are grieved in mind:6 αμαρτανοντι ανδρι μεγαλη παγις δικαιος δε εν χαρα και εν ευφροσυνη εσται
Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.7 επισταται δικαιος κρινειν πενιχροις ο δε ασεβης ου συνησει γνωσιν και πτωχω ουχ υπαρχει νους επιγνωμων
Open thy mouth for the dumb, and for the causes of all the children that pass.8 ανδρες λοιμοι εξεκαυσαν πολιν σοφοι δε απεστρεψαν οργην
Open thy mouth, decree that which is just, and do justice to the needy and poor.9 ανηρ σοφος κρινει εθνη ανηρ δε φαυλος οργιζομενος καταγελαται και ου καταπτησσει
Who shall find a valiant woman? far and from the uttermost coasts is the price of her.10 ανδρες αιματων μετοχοι μισησουσιν οσιον οι δε ευθεις εκζητησουσιν ψυχην αυτου
The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall have no need of spoils.11 ολον τον θυμον αυτου εκφερει αφρων σοφος δε ταμιευεται κατα μερος
She will render him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.12 βασιλεως υπακουοντος λογον αδικον παντες οι υπ' αυτον παρανομοι
She hath sought wool and flax, and hath wrought by the counsel of her hands.13 δανιστου και χρεοφειλετου αλληλοις συνελθοντων επισκοπην ποιειται αμφοτερων ο κυριος
She is like the merchant's ship, she bringeth her bread from afar.14 βασιλεως εν αληθεια κρινοντος πτωχους ο θρονος αυτου εις μαρτυριον κατασταθησεται
And she hath risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and victuals to her maidens.15 πληγαι και ελεγχοι διδοασιν σοφιαν παις δε πλανωμενος αισχυνει γονεις αυτου
She hath considered a field, and bought it: with the fruit of her hands she hath planted a vineyard.16 πολλων οντων ασεβων πολλαι γινονται αμαρτιαι οι δε δικαιοι εκεινων πιπτοντων καταφοβοι γινονται
She hath girded her loins with strength, and hath strengthened her arm.17 παιδευε υιον σου και αναπαυσει σε και δωσει κοσμον τη ψυχη σου
She hath tasted and seen that her traffic is good: her lamp shall not be put out in the night.18 ου μη υπαρξη εξηγητης εθνει παρανομω ο δε φυλασσων τον νομον μακαριστος
She hath put out her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.19 λογοις ου παιδευθησεται οικετης σκληρος εαν γαρ και νοηση αλλ' ουχ υπακουσεται
She hath opened her hand to the needy, and stretched out her hands to the poor.20 εαν ιδης ανδρα ταχυν εν λογοις γινωσκε οτι ελπιδα εχει μαλλον αφρων αυτου
She shall not fear for her house in the cold of snow: for dl her domestics are clothed with double garments.21 ος κατασπαταλα εκ παιδος οικετης εσται εσχατον δε οδυνηθησεται εφ' εαυτω
She hath made for herself clothing of tapestry: fine linen, and purple is her covering.22 ανηρ θυμωδης ορυσσει νεικος ανηρ δε οργιλος εξωρυξεν αμαρτιας
Her husband is honourable in the gates, when he sitteth among the senators of the land.23 υβρις ανδρα ταπεινοι τους δε ταπεινοφρονας ερειδει δοξη κυριος
She made fine linen, and sold it, end delivered a girdle to the Chanaanite.24 ος μεριζεται κλεπτη μισει την εαυτου ψυχην εαν δε ορκου προτεθεντος ακουσαντες μη αναγγειλωσιν
Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day.25 φοβηθεντες και αισχυνθεντες ανθρωπους υπεσκελισθησαν ο δε πεποιθως επι κυριον ευφρανθησεται ασεβεια ανδρι διδωσιν σφαλμα ος δε πεποιθεν επι τω δεσποτη σωθησεται
She hath opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.26 πολλοι θεραπευουσιν προσωπα ηγουμενων παρα δε κυριου γινεται το δικαιον ανδρι
She hath looked well to the paths of her house, and hath not eaten her bread idle.27 βδελυγμα δικαιοις ανηρ αδικος βδελυγμα δε ανομω κατευθυνουσα οδος
Her children rose up, and called her blessed: her husband, and he praised her.
Many daughters have gathered together riches: thou hast surpassed them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: the woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands: and let her works praise her in the gates.
