| 1 David reunió en Jerusalén a todos los jefes de Israel: a los jefes de las tribus y de las secciones que estaban al servicio del rey, a los jefes de millares, a los centuriones, a los administradores de los bienes y de la ganadería del rey y de sus hijos, a los cortesanos, a los guerreros y a los hombres valerosos. | 1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem. |
| 2 Puesto en pie, dijo el rey David: «Hijos míos, pueblo mío, escuchadme. Tenía el propósito de edificar un templo en el que reposara el Arca de la alianza del Señor y fuera el escabel de los pies de nuestro Dios. Hice los preparativos para la construcción, | 2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building. |
| 3 pero Dios me dijo: “Tú no construirás un templo en mi honor, pues eres un hombre belicoso y has derramado mucha sangre”. | 3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’ |
| 4 El Señor, Dios de Israel, me eligió entre toda mi familia para que fuese rey de Israel para siempre. En efecto, escogió a Judá para ser caudillo; de entre las familias de Judá, a mi familia; y de entre mis hermanos, se fijó en mí para hacerme rey de todo Israel. | 4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel. |
| 5 Entre todos mis hijos —pues el Señor me ha dado muchos hijos—, eligió a mi hijo Salomón para que se siente en el trono real del Señor en Israel. | 5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel. |
| 6 Y me dijo: “Tu hijo Salomón edificará mi templo y mis atrios, porque lo he escogido como hijo y yo seré un padre para él”. | 6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father. |
| 7 Consolidaré su reino para siempre, si se mantiene firme en el cumplimiento de los mandamientos y decretos como lo hace hoy. | 7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’ |
| 8 Así pues, ante la mirada de todo Israel, asamblea del Señor, y a oídos de nuestro Dios, os digo: observad y estudiad los mandamientos del Señor vuestro Dios, para que poseáis esta tierra espléndida y la dejéis como heredad a vuestros descendientes para siempre. | 8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever. |
| 9 Y tú, Salomón, hijo mío, reconoce al Dios de tu padre y sírvelo con corazón íntegro y con ánimo generoso, que el Señor sondea los corazones y penetra todas las intenciones. Si lo buscas, se dejará encontrar; pero si lo abandonas, te desechará definitivamente. | 9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity. |
| 10 Mira, el Señor te ha elegido para que le construyas una casa que sea su santuario. ¡Ánimo y manos a la obra!». | 10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.” |
| 11 David entregó a su hijo Salomón el plano del pórtico y del templo, de los almacenes, las salas superiores, las naves interiores y del lugar del Propiciatorio. | 11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation, |
| 12 También le entregó el proyecto de lo que había pensado sobre los atrios del templo del Señor y los locales circundantes para el tesoro del templo de Dios y para el erario sagrado, | 12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things, |
| 13 para las clases sacerdotales y levíticas, para los diversos servicios de culto del templo del Señor y de todos los utensilios cultuales del templo del Señor. | 13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord. |
| 14 Le indicó el peso de oro para los utensilios de oro de cada servicio, y el peso de plata para los utensilios de plata de cada servicio; | 14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment. |
| 15 el peso de cada candelabro de oro con sus lámparas de oro, y el peso de cada candelabro de plata con sus lámparas de plata, según el uso de los diversos candelabros; | 15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure. |
| 16 el peso de oro de cada mesa de los panes presentados y de plata para las mesas de plata; | 16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver. |
| 17 oro puro para los tenedores, acetres y jarros; el peso de oro para cada taza de oro, y el de plata para cada taza de plata; | 17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver. |
| 18 y el peso de oro refinado para el altar del incienso. Le entregó también el proyecto del carro de querubines de oro, que con sus alas extendidas cubren el Arca de la alianza del Señor. | 18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord. |
| 19 Todo esto estaba en un escrito que el Señor le había consignado para explicar todos los detalles del diseño. | 19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.” |
| 20 Dijo David a su hijo Salomón: «Ánimo y sé valiente; pon manos a la obra. No temas ni desmayes, porque el Señor Dios, mi Dios, está contigo. No te dejará ni abandonará hasta que hayas terminado la obra para servicio del templo del Señor. | 20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord. |
| 21 Ahí tienes las clases sacerdotales y levíticas al servicio del templo de Dios. Estarán contigo en toda la obra. Toda clase de voluntarios, expertos en cualquier servicio, los jefes y todo el pueblo están a tus órdenes». | 21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.” |
