EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Observar la Ley es como presentar muchas ofrendas y ser fiel a los mandamientos es ofrecer un sacrificio de comunión;	1 One who keeps the Law multiplies offerings; one who fol ows the commandments offers communionsacrifices.
2 devolver un favor es hacer una oblación de harina y hacer limosna es ofrecer un sacrifico de alabanza.	2 Proof of gratitude is an offering of fine flour, almsgiving a sacrifice of praise.
3 La manera de agradar al Señor es apartarse del mal, y apartarse de la injusticia es un sacrificio de expiación.	3 To abandon wickedness is what pleases the Lord, to give up wrong-doing is an expiatory sacrifice.
4 No te presentes ante el Señor con las manos vacías, porque todo esto lo prescriben los mandamientos.	4 Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord's presence; for all these things are due under thecommandment.
5 Cuando la ofrenda del justo engrasa el altar, su fragancia llega a la presencia del Altísimo.	5 The offering of the upright graces the altar, and its savour rises before the Most High.
6 El sacrificio del justo es aceptado y su memorial no caerá en el olvido.	6 The sacrifice of the upright is acceptable, its memorial wil not be forgotten.
7 Glorifica al Señor con generosidad y no mezquines las primicias de tus manos.	7 Honour the Lord with generosity, do not stint the first-fruits you bring.
8 Da siempre con el rostro radiante y consagra el diezmo con alegría.	8 Add a smiling face to al your gifts, and be cheerful as you dedicate your tithes.
9 Da al Altísimo según lo que él te dio, y con generosidad, conforme a tus recursos,	9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, as generously as your means can afford;
10 porque el Señor sabe retribuir y te dará siete veces más.	10 for the Lord is a good rewarder, he wil reward you seven times over.
11 No pretendas sobornarlo con un don, porque no lo aceptaría, y no te apoyes en un sacrificio injusto.	11 Do not try to bribe him with presents, he wil not accept them, do not put your faith in wronglymotivated sacrifices;
12 Porque el Señor es juez y no hace distinción de personas:	12 for the Lord is a judge who is utterly impartial.
13 no se muestra parcial contra el pobre y escucha la súplica del oprimido;	13 He never shows partiality to the detriment of the poor, he listens to the plea of the injured party.
14 no desoye la plegaria del huérfano, ni a la viuda, cuando expone su queja.	14 He does not ignore the orphan's supplication, nor the widow's as she pours out her complaint.
15 ¿No corren las lágrimas por las mejillas de la viuda y su clamor no acusa al que las hace derramar?	15 Do the widow's tears not run down her cheeks, as she accuses the man who is the cause of them?
16 El que rinde el culto que agrada al Señor, es aceptado, y su plegaria llega hasta las nubes.	16 Whoever wholeheartedly serves God will be accepted, his petitions wil carry to the clouds.
17 La súplica del humilde atraviesa las nubes y mientras no llega a su destino, él no se consuela:	17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds: and until it does, he is not to be consoled,
18 no desiste hasta que el Altísimo interviene, para juzgar a los justos y hacerles justicia.	18 nor wil he desist until the Most High takes notice of him, acquits the upright and delivers judgement.
19 El Señor no tardará y no tendrá paciencia con los impíos,	19 And the Lord will not be slow, nor wil he be dilatory on their behalf,
20 hasta quebrar el poderío de los despiadados y dar su merecido a las naciones;	20 until he has crushed the loins of the merciless and exacted vengeance on the nations,
21 hasta extirpar la multitud de los prepotentes y quebrar el cetro de los injustos;	21 until he has eliminated the hordes of the arrogant and broken the sceptres of the wicked,
22 hasta retribuir a cada hombre según sus acciones, remunerando las obras de los hombres según sus intenciones;	22 until he has repaid al people as their deeds deserve and human actions as their intentions merit,
23 hasta juzgar la causa de su pueblo y alegrarlo con su misericordia.	23 until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.
24 ¡Qué hermosa es la misericordia en el momento de la aflicción, como las nubes de lluvia en tiempo de sequía!	24 Mercy is welcome in time of trouble, like rain clouds in time of drought.
