Zaccaria 7

1 Nel quarto anno del re Dario, nel quarto giorno del nono mese, che è Casleu, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Zaccaria.	1 In the fourth year of Darius the king (the word of the LORD came to Zechariah), on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month,
2 Allora avevan mandato alla casa di Dio Sarasar, Rogomelec e gli uomini che eran con lui, per pregare dinanzi al Signore,	2 Bethelsarezer sent Regemmelech and his men to implore favor of the LORD
3 e per interrogare i sacerdoti della casa del Signore degli eserciti e i profeti, con queste parole: « Devo piangere il quinto mese, o devo purificarmi, come ho già fatto per molti anni? »	3 and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"
4 La parola del Signore degli eserciti mi fu rivolta in questi termini:	4 Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:
5 « Parla a tutto il popolo del paese, e ai sacerdoti, e di' loro: — Quando voi digiunaste e piangeste il quinto e il settimo mese in questi settanta anni, faceste forse per me il vostro digiuno?	5 Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?
6 E quando avete mangiato e bevuto, non avete forse mangiato e bevuto, per conto vostro?	6 And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?
7 Non son forse queste le parole dette dal Signore per mezzo degli antichi profeti, quando Gerusalemme era piena di popolo e di ricchezze, essa e le città circonvicine, quando erano abitate le parti del mezzogiorno e le pianure? »	7 Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?
8 E la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Zaccaria in questi termini:	8 (This word of the LORD came to Zechariah:
9 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, dicendo: Giudicate secondo la verità, usate misericordia e compassione, ciascuno verso il suo fratello,	9 Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.
10 e guardatevi dall'opprimer la vedova e l'orfano, il forestiero e il povero, e nessuno pensi nel suo cuore a far del male al fratello ».	10 Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.
11 Ma essi non vollero dar retta, voltarono lo ribelli spalle, e ingrossarono l'udito per non intendere.	11 But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.
12 E resero il loro cuore come il diamante, per non ascoltare la legge e lo parole che il Signore degli eserciti, per mezzo del suo spirito, aveva messe in bocca agli antichi profeti; e ne venne la grande ira del Signore degli eserciti.	12 And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.
13 E avvenne: « Siccome alle parole non han dato ascolto, essi grideranno, ed io non li esaudirò, — dice il Signore degli eserciti, — ne li ho dispersi per tutti i regni, loro ignoti, e, senza di essi, la terra è stata desolata, non essendoci chi andasse e venisse ». Così una terra di delizie l'han ridotta a un deserto.	13 Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,
	14 but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.
