Osea 4

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Udite la parola del Signore, o figli d'Israele, perchè il Signore viene a giudicare gli abitanti di questa terra. Non c'è più verità, nè compassione, nè la conoscenza di Dio sulla terra.	1 Hear the word of the LORD, O people of Israel, for the LORD has a grievance against the inhabitants of the land: There is no fidelity, no mercy, no knowledge of God in the land.
2 La bestemmia, la menzogna, l'omicidio, il furto, l'adulterio trionfano, il sangue incalza il sangue.	2 False swearing, lying, murder, stealing and adultery! in their lawlessness, bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3 Per questo la terra sarà nel pianto, chi vi abita sarà nelle malattie, anche le bestie dei campi, e gli uccelli del cielo, e i pesci stessi del mare periranno.	3 Therefore the land mourns, and everything that dwells in it languishes: The beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and even the fish of the sea perish.
4 Ma nessuno condanni, nessuno rimproveri; perchè il popolo tuo è di quelli che contradicono al sacerdote.	4 But let no one protest, let no one complain; with you is my grievance, O priests!
5 E tu oggi andrai in rovina, e teco andrà in rovina il profeta: nella notte farò tacere la tua madre.	5 You shall stumble in the day, and the prophets shall stumble with you at night; I will destroy your mother.
6 Il mio popolo è rimasto muto, perchè privo di scienza. Perchè tu hai rigettata là scienza, io rigetterò te, e t'impedirò d'esercitarmi il sacerdozio. Tu hai dimenticata la legge di Dio, ed io mi scorderò dei tuoi figlioli.	6 My people perish for want of knowledge! Since you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from my priesthood; Since you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore your sons.
7 Più sono e più peccano contro di me, ma io cangerò la loro gloria in ignominia.	7 One and all they sin against me, exchanging their glory for shame.
8 Mangiano i peccati del popolo mio, e lo incoraggiano al delitto.	8 They feed on the sin of my people, and are greedy for their guilt.
9 E qual sarà il popolo tal sarà il sacerdote. Io punirò il suo modo d'agire e gli renderò secondo i suoi pensieri.	9 The priests shall fare no better than the people: I will punish them for their ways, and repay them for their deeds.
10 Essì mangeranno, ma senza satollarsi. Han fornicato senza darsi riposo, hanno abbandonato il Signore, per non osservarne la legge.	10 They shall eat but not be satisfied, they shall play the harlot but not increase, Because they have abandoned the LORD
11 La disonestà, il vino l'ubriachezza tolgono l'intelletto.	11 to practice harlotry. Old wine and new deprive my people of understanding.
12 Il mio popolo consulta un pezzo di legno, si fa predir l'avvenire da una bacchetta; perchè lo spirito di fornicazione li ha stupiditi, si son dati alla disonestà lontani da Dio.	12 They consult their piece of wood, and their wand makes pronouncements for them, For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray; they commit harlotry, forsaking their God.
13 Usano offrir sacrifizi sulle vette dei monti, bruciar l'incenso sopra le colline, sotto la quercia, il pioppo e il terebinto, perchè ne è gradita l'ombra. Per questo le vostre figlie fornicheranno, e le vostre spose saranno adultere.	13 On the mountaintops they offer sacrifice and on the hills they burn incense, Beneath oak and poplar and terebinth, because of their pleasant shade. That is why your daughters play the harlot, and your daughters-in-law are adulteresses.
14 Io non castigherò le vostre figlie, quando avran fornicato, nè le vostre spose, quando avran commesso adulterio, perchè essi stessi conversavano colle meretrici e andavano a far sacrifizi cogli effemminati. E il popolo insensato andrà in rovina.	14 Am I then to punish your daughters for their harlotry, your daughters-in-law for their adultery? You yourselves consort with harlots, and with prostitutes you offer sacrifice! So must a people without understanding come to ruin.
15 Se ti sei dato alla fornicazione tu, o Israele, che non pecchi almeno Giuda. Non andate dunque a Galgala, non salite a Betaven, e non fate quel giuramento: « Vive il Signore ».	15 Though you play the harlot, O Israel, let not Judah become guilty! Come not to Gilgal, nor up to Beth-aven, to swear, "As the Lord lives!"
16 Perchè come vacca indomita Israele è uscito fuor di strada. Ora il Signore li farà pascere come agnelli in spaziosa campagna.	16 For Israel is as stubborn as a heifer; will the LORD now give them broad pastures as though they were lambs?
17 Efraim s'è attaccato ai suoi idoli: lascialo stare:	17 Ephraim is an associate of idols, let him alone!
18 è separato il loro convito, hanno orribilmente fornicato, e i suoi protettori han desiderato di portare l'ignominia.	18 When their carousing is over, they give themselves to harlotry; in their arrogance they love shame.
19 Il vento li ha inviluppati nelle sue ali, e saran confusi per i loro sacrifizi.	19 The wind has bound them up in its pinions; they shall have only shame from their altars.
