1 Vaticinio a carico del deserto del mare. Come i turbini vengono dal vento australe, viene dal deserto, da orribile terra.	1 Oracle on the wastelands by the sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping in waves through the Negeb, there comes from the desert, from the fearful land,
2 Una dura visione mi è stata mostrata: l'incredulo agisce da infedele, il devastatore devasta. Assalisci, o Elam, assedia, o Medo: voglio far cessare ogni suo lamento.	2 A cruel sight, revealed to me: the traitor betrays, the despoiler spoils. "Go up, Elam; besiege, O Media; I will put an end to all groaning!"
3 Per questo son pieni di spasimo i miei lombi, mi hanno assalito dei dolori, dei dolori come quelli di partoriente, sono sbigottito al sentire, sono atterrito al vedere.	3 Therefore my loins are filled with anguish, pangs have seized me like those of a woman in labor; I am too bewildered to hear, too dismayed to look.
4 Il mio cuore è venuto meno, le tenebre mi hanno reso stupido: Babilonia, la mia diletta, è per me oggetto di sbalordimento.	4 My mind reels, shuddering assails me; My yearning for twilight has turned into dread.
5 Prepara la mensa, guarda dalla vedetta chi mangia e beve. Sorgete, o principi, prendete lo scudo.	5 They set the table, spread out the rugs; they eat, they drink. Rise up, O princes, oil the shield!
6 Perchè il Signore così m'ha parlato: « Va, metti una sentinella, ed essa annunzi tutto quello che vedrà ».	6 For thus says my Lord to me: Go, station a watchman, let him tell what he sees.
7 Ed essa vide un cocchio con due cavalieri, (dei quali) uno sopra un asino, l'altro sopra un cammello, e li contemplò attentamente per molto tempo.	7 If he sees a chariot, a pair of horses, Someone riding an ass, someone riding a camel, Then let him pay heed, very close heed.
8 E gridò qual leone: « Io sto sulla torre di guardia del Signore, vi sto continuamente di giorno, sto vegliando al mio posto le intere notti ».	8 Then the watchman cried, "On the watchtower, O my Lord, I stand constantly by day; And I stay at my post through all the watches of the night.
9 Ecco che viene uno a cavallo, uno della pariglia dei cavalieri, e prende la parola e dice: « E' caduta, è caduta Babilonia, e tutte le statue dei suoi dèi sono in frantumi sulla terra ».	9 Here he comes now: a single chariot, a pair of horses; He calls out and says, 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon, And all the images of her gods are smashed to the ground.'"
10 O mio grano battuto, o figli della mia aia, quello che ho sentito dal Signore degli eserciti, dal Dio d'Israele, l'ho annunziato a voi.	10 O my people who have been threshed, beaten on my threshing floor! What I have heard from the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, I have announced to you.
11 Vaticinio a carico di Duma. A me si grida da Seir: «Sentinella, a che punto è la notte? Sentinella a che punto è la notte? »	11 Oracle on Edom: They call to me from Seir, "Watchman, how much longer the night? Watchman, how much longer the night?"
12 La sentinella risponde: « E' venuto il mattino, ed è notte; se lo volete sapere, ridomandate, tornate, tornate ».	12 The watchman replies, "Morning has come, and again night. If you will ask, ask; come back again."
13 Vaticinio a carico dell'Arabia. Voi dormirete la sera nella boscaglia, sulla strada di Dedanim. Mandate incontro, portate acqua agli assetati, o abitatori della terra australe, portando dei pani, andate incontro a chi fugge.	13 Oracle on Arabia: In the thicket in the nomad country spend the night, O caravans of Dedanites.
14 Perchè essi fuggono davanti alle spade, davanti alle spade che son loro addosso, davanti agli archi tesi, davanti alla terribile battaglia.	14 Meet the thirsty, bring them water; you who dwell in the land of Tema, greet the fugitives with bread.
15 Perchè cosi mi ha parlato il Signore: « Ancora un anno, anno di mercenario, e sparirà tutta la gloria di Cedar.	15 They flee from the sword, from the whetted sword; From the taut bow, from the fury of battle.
16 E ciò che resta dei numerosi e forti arceri dei figli di Cedar sarà ridotto a poco; perchè il Signore Dio d'Israele ha parlato ».	16 For thus says the Lord to me: In another year, like those of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall come to an end.
	17 Few of Kedar's stalwart archers shall remain, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
