BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Or avendo cominciato gli uomini a moltiplicarsi sopra la terra, ed avendo avuto delle figliole,	1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,
2 i figli di Dio videro che le figliole degli uomini erano belle e sposarono quelle che fra tutte loro piacquero.	2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.
3 E il Signore disse: «Il mio spirito non rimarrà per sempre nell'uomo, perchè egli è carne, e i suoi giorni saranno centoventi anni ».	3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'
4 C'eran poi in quel tempo sopra la terra dei giganti. Or dopo che i figli di Dio si congiunsero colle figliole degli uomini, e queste partorirono, ne vennero fuori quegli uomini potenti, famosi nei secoli.	4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.
5 Or Dio, vedendo che la malizia degli uomini era grande sopra la terra, e che ogni pensiero del loro cuore era di continuo al male,	5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.
6 si penti d'aver fatto l'uomo sulla terra, e, addolorato nel profondo del cuore, disse:	6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.
7 « Sterminerò dalla faccia della terra l'uomo che ho creato: uomo e animali, rettili e uccelli del cielo; chè mi pento d'averli fatti ».	7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'
8 Ma Noè trovò grazia davanti al Signore.	8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.
9 Questa è la posterità di Noè. Noè fu uomo giusto e perfetto fra i suoi contemporanei, e camminò con Dio,	9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.
10 e generò tre figlioli: Sem, Cam e Iafet.	10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Or la terra era corrotta davanti a Dio e ripiena d'iniquità.	11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.
12 Ed avendo Dio veduto che la terra era corrotta (ogni carne infatti seguiva sulla terra la via di corruzione),	12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.
13 disse a Noè: « Davanti a me è giunta la fine d'ogni vivente; siccome la terra per opera degli uomini è piena d'iniquità, io li sterminerò colla terra,	13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.
14 Fatti un'arca di legni piallati; falla a piccole stanze e spalmala di bitume di dentro e di fuori.	14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.
15 E la farai in questa maniera: La lunghezza dell'arca sarà di trecento cubiti, la larghezza di cinquanta cubiti e l'altezza di trenta cubiti.	15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.
16 Farai nell'arca una finestra, e al tetto gli darai la pendenza d'un cubito; metterai la porta dell'arca da un lato; vi farai il piano di fondo, il secondo e il terzo piano.	16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.
17 Ecco io sto por mandare sulla terra le acque del diluvio, per sterminare ogni carne che ha l'alito della vita sotto il cielo; perirà tutto quello che è sopra la terra.	17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.
18 Ma io stabilirò il mio patto con te; ed entrerai nell'arca tu e i tuoi figlioli, la tua moglie e le mogli dei tuoi figlioli con te.	18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.
19 E di tutti gli animali ne farai entrare nell'arca due di ciascuna specie, un maschio ed una femmina, affinchè si salvino teco;	19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.
20 degli uccelli, secondo la loro specie, delle bestie, secondo la loro specie, di tutti i rettili della terra, secondo la loro specie, due entreranno con te nell'arca, affinchè possano conservarsi.	20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.
21 Prenderai dunque teco di tutto quello che si può mangiare e ne farai provvista, e servirà a te e a loro di nutrimento.»	21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'
22 Fece pertanto Noè tutto quello che Dio gli aveva comandato.	22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.
