1 Samson went down to Timnah, and at Timnah he saw one of the daughters of the Philistines.	1 E andossene Sansone in Tamnata; e vedendo una femina de' Filistei,
2 Then he came up, and told his father and mother, "I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah; now get her for me as my wife."	2 tornò a casa sua, e annunciò al padre suo e alla madre, dicendo: io ho veduto una femina in Tamnata de' figliuoli de' Filistei, la quale vi prego che voi la mi diate per moglie.
3 But his father and mother said to him, "Is there not a woman among the daughters of your kinsmen, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?" But Samson said to his father, "Get her for me; for she pleases me well."	3 Al quale sì dissono il padre e la madre sua: or non è figliuola alcuna tra le figliuole de' tuoi fratelli, e in tutto il popolo tuo, però che tu vuoli pigliare moglie de' Filistei, i quali sono incirconcisi? E disse Sansone al padre suo: questa mi togli e dà per moglie, perciò che questa sì (mi piace ed) è accetta agli occhii miei.
4 His father and mother did not know that it was from the LORD; for he was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.	4 E non sapea il padre suo e la madre sua, che questa cosa procedesse (e fosse) da Dio, e andasse cercando cagione contro a' Filistei; imperciò che i Filistei signoreggiavano i figliuoli d' Israel.
5 Then Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnah, and he came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion roared against him;	5 E andò giuso in Tamnata Sansone, col padre suo e con la madre sua. Ed essendo giunti alle vigne del castello, sì apparìo uno lioncello giovane, molto crudele (e adirato), e muggiando gli si fece incontro (nella via).
6 and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he tore the lion asunder as one tears a kid; and he had nothing in his hand. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.	6 E venne adosso lo Spirito di Dio, e infiammoe Sansone; e andò adosso al leone, e tutto lo lacerò (e ismembrò) sì come avesse fatto pezzi d' uno capretto, non avendo alcuna cosa in mano; e ciò non volse manifestare nè al padre nè alla madre.
7 Then he went down and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.	7 E andò giuso, e favellò a quella femina la quale era piaciuta agli occhii suoi.
8 And after a while he returned to take her; and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey.	8 E dopo parecchii dì, ritornando per torla (e menarla) per moglie, andò fuori della strada per vedere il corpo morto del leone; ed ecco nella bocca del leone uno isciamo d' api, e dentro il mele.
9 He scraped it out into his hands, and went on, eating as he went; and he came to his father and mother, and gave some to them, and they ate. But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey from the carcass of the lion.	9 Il quale, pigliandolo nelle sue mani, andava manicando per la via; e vegnendo al padre suo e alla madre sua, diede loro parte, i quali ancora sì ne manicarono: e ancora non volse dire loro, che avesse tolto il mele del corpo del leone.
10 And his father went down to the woman, and Samson made a feast there; for so the young men used to do.	10 E andò giuso il padre di Sansone a questa femina; e sì fece al suo figliuolo Sansone (le nozze e) il convito; imperciò che così erano usati di fare i giovani.
11 And when the people saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.	11 E veggendo i cittadini di quello luogo Sansone, sì diedero XXX sodali (e compagni), che istessero con lui.
12 And Samson said to them, "Let me now put a riddle to you; if you can tell me what it is, within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty festal garments;	12 Ai quali disse Sansone: io vi proporrò (e dirò) una questione (e una parola); la quale se voi la (mi saprete dire e) iscioglierete infra sette dì che dura il convito (e le nozze), io vi darò XXX zendadi (ovvero guarnaccie) e altrettante tuniche;
13 but if you cannot tell me what it is, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty festal garments." And they said to him, "Put your riddle, that we may hear it."	13 ma se voi non la (potrete dire nè non) saprete isciogliere, voi darete a me XXX zendadi (ovvero XXX guarnaccie) e altrettante tuniche. I quali si rispuosono (e dissono): proponi e di' questa questione (e questa parola), acciò che noi l'udiamo.
14 And he said to them, "Out of the eater came something to eat. Out of the strong came something sweet." And they could not in three days tell what the riddle was.	14 E disse Sansone: di colui che mangiava uscìo cibo (e cosa da mangiare), e di cosa forte uscìo dolcezza. E non poterono questi compagni per tre di isciogliere questo detto (quello che si volesse dire).
15 On the fourth day they said to Samson's wife, "Entice your husband to tell us what the riddle is, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you invited us here to impoverish us?"	15 E approssimandosi il settimo dì, dissono costoro alla moglie di Sansone: lusinga il tuo marito, ch' egli ti dica che vuole dire la questione (e la parola, la quale ha detta); la quale cosa se tu non vorrai fare, noi metteremo a fuoco te e la casa del padre tuo: adunque per ciò ci chiamasti alle nozze, acciò che ci spogliaste?
16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, "You only hate me, you do not love me; you have put a riddle to my countrymen, and you have not told me what it is." And he said to her, "Behold, I have not told my father nor my mother, and shall I tell you?"	16 La quale continuamente gittava le lacrime (e piagnea) inanzi a Sansone, e sì si rammaricava, dicendo tu m' hai in odio e non m' ami; e però la questione (e le parole) che proponesti (e dicesti) agli figliuoli del popolo mio, tu non mi vogli isponere. E quegli respuose (e disse): al mio padre e alla mia madre nol volsi dire, e ora come il potrò dire a te?
17 She wept before him the seven days that their feast lasted; and on the seventh day he told her, because she pressed him hard. Then she told the riddle to her countrymen.	17 E continuamente quegli sette di delle nozze, non facea altro che piagnerli innanzi: e pure l'ultimo die, cioè il settimo, essendogli costei sì molesta, (e molto molestandolo) esso glielo espose (e disse quello che volea dire). La quale incontanente sì disse a' suoi cittadini le dette parole (ed espose loro quello che voleano dire).
18 And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, "What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?" And he said to them, "If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found out my riddle."	18 E quelli sì il dissono a Sansone il settimo dì, dinanzi che il sole tramontasse: qual è quella cosa che ene più dolce che miele, e quale quella cosa che è più forte che il leone? Il quale sì disse loro: se voi non aveste arato colla vitella mia (cioè se voi non foste aiutati colla moglie mia), voi non avreste sciolta (nè saputa dire) la proposizione e il detto mio.
19 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty men of the town, and took their spoil and gave the festal garments to those who had told the riddle. In hot anger he went back to his father's house.	19 E venne sopra di lui lo Spirito di Dio (e tutto l'accese e infiammò), e andossene giuso in Ascalone; e quivi uccise trenta uomini, togliendo i vestimenti loro; e dièlli a coloro che aveano isciolto la parola che egli (disse e) propose. E fortemente turbato si ritornò suso in casa del padre suo.
20 And Samson's wife was given to his companion, who had been his best man.	20 E la moglie sì tolse poi il marito degli amici suoi e de' cognati,
