2 chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.	2 secondo la prescienza di Dio Padre nella santificazione dello Spirito all'obbedienza e alla purificazione del sangue di Gesù Cristo: grazia e pace abbondino per voi!
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,	3 Benedetto sia Dio e Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo il quale, secondo l'abbondanza della sua benevolenza, ci generò di nuovo per una speranza vivente in forza della risurrezione dai morti di Gesù Cristo,
4 and to an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,	4 per un'eredità incorruttibile, senza macchia e che non appassisce, conservata nei cieli per voi,
5 who by God's power are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.	5 che siete conservati dalla potenza di Dio mediante la fede, in vista della salvezza che è pronta a manifestarsi nell'ultimo tempo.
6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials,	6 In prospettiva di questo gioite, pur soffrendo un poco ora, se è necessario, sotto il peso di prove svariate,
7 so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	7 affinché la genuinità della vostra fede, molto più preziosa dell'oro che perisce e che pure viene purificato col fuoco, sia verificata come un titolo di lode, di gloria e di onore nella manifestazione di Gesù Cristo.
8 Without having seen him you love him; though you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy.	8 Pur non vedendolo, lo amate; pur non guardandolo ora, ma tuttavia credendo in lui, esultate di una gioia inesprimibile e già pervasa di gloria,
9 As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.	9 mentre state raggiungendo il traguardo della vostra fede, la salvezza delle anime vostre.
10 The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation;	10 Su questa salvezza hanno indagato accuratamente i profeti, che profetarono intorno alla grazia diretta a voi,
11 they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory.	11 indagando quale e di quanto valore fosse il tempo che lo Spirito di Cristo in anticipo testimoniava loro, tempo a cui erano riferite le sofferenze per Cristo e l'abbondanza di gloria che sarebbe seguita.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.	12 Fu loro rivelato che non rendevano un servizio a se stessi, bensì a voi in tutto questo che ora vi è annunciato da coloro che vi hanno evangelizzato in forza dello Spirito Santo inviato dal cielo: gli angeli bramano vedere tutto questo.
13 Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	13 Perciò, con i fianchi della vostra mente succinti, in uno stato di sobrietà, sperate completamente nella grazia che vi viene portata nella manifestazione di Gesù Cristo.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,	14 Animati come siete dallo spirito di obbedienza, non uniformatevi più alle passioni sregolate che prima, nella vostra ignoranza, vi dominavano,
15 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct;	15 ma, in conformità col Santo che vi chiamò, diventate santi anche voi in tutto il vostro comportamento,
16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."	16 poiché sta scritto: Siate santi, poiché io sono santo.
17 And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.	17 E se invocate come Padre colui che giudica senza favoritismi personali secondo l'operato di ciascuno, comportatevi nel tempo del vostro passaggio sulla terra con un senso di timore religioso,
18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,	18 consapevoli che non siete stati riscattati dalla vostra vita insulsa, ereditata dai vostri padri, a prezzo di oro e di argento, elementi corruttibili,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.	19 ma per mezzo del sangue prezioso di Cristo, che ha svolto la funzione di agnello puro e senza macchia,
20 He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake.	20 conosciuto prima della fondazione del mondo, ma rivelatosi alla fine dei tempi per voi
21 Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.	21 che, in forza di lui, siete fedeli a Dio che lo risuscitò dai morti e lo glorificò, così che la vostra fede e la vostra speranza possano essere indirizzate a Dio.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.	22 Poiché avete purificato la vostra anima obbedendo alla verità che vi porta a un amore fraterno senza ipocrisia, amatevi costantemente gli uni gli altri con cuore puro,
23 You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;	23 dato che siete stati rigenerati, non in forza di un seme mortale, ma in forza di Dio immortale, che vive e rimane in voi in virtù della parola.
24 for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,	24 Poiché ogni mortale è come l'erba e tutta la sua gloria come fiore di erba; l'erba si inaridisce e il fiore reclina; ma la parola di Dio rimane per sempre.
25 but the word of the Lord abides for ever." That word is the good news which was preached to you.	25 E questa è la parola che vi è stata annunciata col vangelo.
