1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the Exiles of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,	1 Pedro, Apóstol de Jesucristo, saluda a los que viven como extranjeros, dispersos en el Ponto, en Galacia, Capadocia, Asia y Bitinia, a los que han sido elegidos
2 chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.	2 según la previsión de Dios Padre, y han sido santificados por el Espíritu para obedecer a Jesucristo y recibir la aspersión de su sangre. A ustedes, gracia y paz en abundancia.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,	3 Bendito sea Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que en su gran misericordia, nos hizo renacer, por la resurrección de Jesucristo, a una esperanza viva,
4 and to an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,	4 a una herencia incorruptible, incontaminada e imperecedera, que ustedes tienen reservada en el cielo.
5 who by God's power are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.	5 Porque gracias a la fe, el poder de Dios los conserva para la salvación dispuesta a ser revelada en el momento final.
6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials,	6 Por eso, ustedes se regocijan a pesar de las diversas pruebas que deben sufrir momentáneamente:
7 so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	7 así, la fe de ustedes, una vez puesta a prueba, será mucho más valiosa que el oro perecedero purificado por el fuego, y se convertirá en motivo de alabanza, de gloria y de honor el día de la Revelación de Jesucristo.
8 Without having seen him you love him; though you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy.	8 Porque ustedes lo aman sin haberlo visto, y creyendo en él sin verlo todavía, se alegran con un gozo indecible y lleno de gloria,
9 As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.	9 seguros de alcanzar el término de esa fe, que es la salvación.
10 The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation;	10 Esta salvación ha sido objeto de la búsqueda y la investigación de los profetas que vaticinan sobre la gracia destinada a ustedes.
11 they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory.	11 Ellos trataban de descubrir el tiempo y las circunstancias señaladas por el Espíritu de Cristo, que estaba presente en ellos y anunciaba anticipadamente los sufrimientos reservados a Cristo y la gloria que les seguiría.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.	12 A ellos les fue revelado que estaban al servicio de un mensaje destinado no a sí mismos, sino a ustedes. Y ahora ustedes han recibido el anuncio de ese mensaje por obra de quienes, bajo la acción del Espíritu Santo enviado desde el cielo, les transmitieron la Buena Noticia que los ángeles ansían contemplar.
13 Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	13 Por lo tanto, manténganse con el espíritu alerta, vivan sobriamente y pongan toda su esperanza en la gracia que recibirán cuando se manifieste Jesucristo.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,	14 Como hijos obedientes, no procedan de acuerdo con los malos deseos que tenían antes, mientras vivían en la ignorancia.
15 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct;	15 Así como aquel que los llamó es santo, también ustedes sean santos en toda su conducta,
16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."	16 de acuerdo con lo que está escrito: Sean santos, porque yo soy santo.
17 And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.	17 Y ya que ustedes llaman Padre a aquel que, sin hacer acepción de personas, juzga a cada uno según sus obras, vivan en el temor mientras están de paso en este mundo.
18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,	18 Ustedes saben que fueron rescatados de la vana conducta heredada de sus padres, no con bienes corruptibles, como el oro y la plata,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.	19 sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, el Cordero sin mancha y sin defecto,
20 He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake.	20 predestinado antes de la creación del mundo y manifestado en los últimos tiempos para bien de ustedes.
21 Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.	21 Por él, ustedes creen en Dios, que lo ha resucitado y lo ha glorificado, de manera que la fe y la esperanza de ustedes estén puestas en Dios.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.	22 Por su obediencia a la verdad, ustedes se han purificado para amarse sinceramente como hermanos. Amense constantemente los unos a los otros con un corazón puro,
23 You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;	23 como quienes han sido engendrados de nuevo, no por un germen corruptible, sino incorruptible: la Palabra de Dios, viva y eterna.
24 for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,	24 Porque toda carne es como hierba y toda su gloria como flor del campo: la hierba se seca y su flor se marchita,
25 but the word of the Lord abides for ever." That word is the good news which was preached to you.	25 pero la Palabra del Señor permanece para siempre. Esta es la Palabra que les ha sido anunciada, la Buena Noticia.
