1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the Exiles of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,	1 Pedro, Apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, aos eleitos que são estrangeiros dispersos pelo Ponto, Galácia, Capadócia, Ásia e Bilínia,
2 chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.	2 a esses que foram eleitos segundo a presciência de Deus Pai, e santificados pelo Espirito (Santo), para prestarem obediência a Jesus Cristo e serem aspergidos com o seu sangue. Graça e paz vos sejam dadas em abundância.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,	3 Bendito seja Deus, o Pai de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que, segundo a sua grande misericórdia, nos regenerou para uma esperança viva, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo dentre os mortos,
4 and to an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,	4 para uma herança incorruptível, que não pode contaminar-se, nem murchar, reservada nos céus para vós,
5 who by God's power are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.	5 a quem o poder de Deus guarda pela fé para a salvação, que está preparada para se manifestar no último tempo.
6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials,	6 Por isso exultais, embora presentemente convenha que sejais afligidos por um pouco de tempo com várias provações,
7 so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	7 a fim de que a prova da vossa fé, muito mais preciosa que o ouro, o qual, embora perecível, se prova com o fogo, se ache digna de louvor, de glória e de honra, quando Jesus Cristo se manifestar (como juiz).
8 Without having seen him you love him; though you do not now see him you believe in him and rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy.	8 Este Jesus, vós o amais, sem nunca o ter visto, credes nele sem o ver ainda, e exultais com uma alegria inefável e cheia de glória,
9 As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.	9 seguros de obter o fim da vossa fé: a salvação das vossas almas.
10 The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation;	10 Desta salvação inquiriram e indagaram os profetas, que predisseram a graça que havia de vir a vós,
11 they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory.	11 procurando descobrir qual o tempo e quais as circunstâncias (em que devia vir o Messias), indicadas por aquele que estava neles, o Espírito de Cristo, ao predizer os sofrimentos reservados a Cristo e as glórias que se lhes seguiriam.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.	12 Foi-lhes revelado que eles, não para si, mas para vós, eram dispensadores daquelas coisas que agora vos são anunciadas por aqueles que, pelo Espírito Santo, enviado do céu, vos pregaram o Evangelho. Nessas coisas reveladas os próprios anjos desejam penetrar com os seus olhares.
13 Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.	13 Portanto, cingidos os rins da vossa mente, sendo sóbrios, esperai inteiramente naquela graça (da vida eterna), que vos será oferecida na manifestação de Jesus Cristo.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,	14 Como filhos obedientes, não vos conformeis com os desejos do vosso passado quando estáveis na ignorância,
15 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct;	15 mas, à imitação do (Deus) Santo que vos chamou, sede vós também santos em todas as ações,
16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."	16 porque está escrito: Sereis santos, porque eu sou santo (Lev. 11,44).
17 And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.	17 E, se invocais como pai aquele que sem acepção de pessoas julga segundo as obras de cada um, vivei em temor durante o tempo da vossa peregrinação (sobre a terra),
18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,	18 sabendo que fostes resgastados da nossa vã maneira de viver recebida de vossos pais, não a preço de coisas corruptíveis, de prata ou de ouro,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.	19 mas pelo precioso sangue de Cristo, o cordeiro sem defeito e sem mancha.
20 He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake.	20 designado (por Deus para nosso Salvador) antes da criação do mundo, e manifestado nos últimos tempos por amor de vós.
21 Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.	21 Por ele tendes fé em Deus, o qual o ressuscitou dos mortos e o glorificou, de maneira que a vossa fé e a vossa esperança estejam em Deus.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.	22 Purificando as vossas almas na obediência à verdade, para vos amardes como irmãos. Do intimo do coração amai-vos, pois, intensamente uns aos outros,
23 You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;	23 renascidos como sois (para um a vida nova), não de uma semente corruptível, mas incorruptível: a palavra de Deus, que vive e permanece eternamente.
24 for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,	24 Com efeito, toda a carne é como a erva, e toda a sua glória como a flor da erva; seca-se a erva e cai a sua flor,
25 but the word of the Lord abides for ever." That word is the good news which was preached to you.	25 mas a palavra do Senhor permanece eternamente (Is. 11,6-8). Ora esta palavra é a que vos foi anunciada.
