2 Timothy 4

1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:	1 Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Cristo Gesù, che verrà a giudicare i vivi e i morti, per la sua apparizione e il suo regno:
2 preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching.	2 annuncia la parola, insisti a tempo opportuno e importuno, cerca di convincere, rimprovera, esorta con ogni longanimità e dottrina.
3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings,	3 Verrà un tempo, infatti, in cui gli uomini non sopporteranno più la sana dottrina, ma, secondo le proprie voglie, si circonderanno di una folla di maestri, facendosi solleticare le orecchie,
4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.	4 e storneranno l'udito dalla verità per volgersi alle favole.
5 As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.	5 Tu, però, sii prudente in tutto, sopporta i travagli, fa' opera di evangelista, adempi il tuo ministero.
6 For I am already on the point of being sacrificed; the time of my departure has come.	6 Quanto a me, io sono già versato in libagione ed è giunto il momento di sciogliere le vele.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.	7 Ho combattuto la buona battaglia, ho terminato la corsa, ho mantenuto la fede.
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.	8 Per il resto, è già in serbo per me la corona della giustizia, che mi consegnerà in quel giorno il Signore, lui, il giusto giudice; e non soltanto a me, ma anche a tutti quelli che hanno amato la sua apparizione.
9 Do your best to come to me soon.	9 Abbi premura di venire da me quanto prima,
10 For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.	10 perché Dema mi ha abbandonato, avendo preferito il secolo presente, e se ne è andato a Tessalonica; Crescente pure se n'è andato in Galazia e Tito in Dalmazia.
11 Luke alone is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you; for he is very useful in serving me.	11 Luca soltanto è con me. Prendi anche Marco e conducilo con te, perché mi è utile per il ministero.
12 Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.	12 Tichico, poi, l'ho mandato a Efeso.
13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments.	13 Quando verrai, portami il mantello che lasciai a Troade presso Carpo, come pure i libri, specialmente le pergamene.
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will requite him for his deeds.	14 Alessandro, il ramaio, mi ha arrecato molto male: Il Signore gli renderà secondo le sue opere.
15 Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message.	15 Anche tu guardati da costui, poiché ha molto avversato le nostre parole.
16 At my first defense no one took my part; all deserted me. May it not be charged against them!	16 Nella mia prima difesa nessuno mi fu al fianco. Tutti mi abbandonarono. Che non sia loro imputato a colpa!
17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength to proclaim the message fully, that all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth.	17 Il Signore, però, mi venne in aiuto e mi diede forza, affinché per mio mezzo la predicazione fosse portata a termine e tutte le nazioni l'ascoltassero: e così fui liberato dalla bocca del leone.
18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.	18 Il Signore mi libererà ancora da ogni opera cattiva e mi salverà per il suo regno celeste. A lui la gloria per i secoli dei secoli. Amen!
