2 Corinthians 10

1 I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ--I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold to you when I am away!--	1 Yo, Pablo, en persona, tan cobarde de cerca y tan valiente de lejos, os ruego por la mansedumbre y mesura de Cristo:
2 I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of acting in worldly fashion.	2 os pido que me ahorréis tener que mostrarme valiente cuando esté entre vosotros, con la intrepidez con que pienso enfrentarme a esos que opinan que nos comportamos según la carne.
3 For though we live in the world we are not carrying on a worldly war,	3 Pues, aunque procedemos como quien vive en la carne, no militamos según la carne,
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds.	4 ya que las armas de nuestro combate no son carnales; es Dios quien les da la capacidad para derribar torreones;
5 We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,	5 deshacemos sofismas y cualquier baluarte que se alce contra el conocimiento de Dios y reducimos los entendimientos a cautiverio para que se sometan a la obediencia de Cristo.
6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.	6 Además, estamos dispuestos a castigar toda desobediencia cuando vuestra obediencia sea completa.
7 Look at what is before your eyes. If any one is confident that he is Christs, let him remind himself that as he is Christs, so are we.	7 ¡Mirad las cosas de frente! Si alguno cree ser de Cristo, que lo reconsidere y verá que, si él es de Cristo, también nosotros lo somos.
8 For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I shall not be put to shame.	8 E incluso si me gloriara más de lo debido de la autoridad que nos dio el Señor para construir vuestra comunidad y no para destruirla, no me avergonzaría.
9 I would not seem to be frightening you with letters.	9 Pues no quiero aparecer como quien os mete miedo con las cartas.
10 For they say, "His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account."	10 «Porque las cartas —dicen— son duras y severas, pero su presencia física es raquítica y su palabra despreciable».
11 Let such people understand that what we say by letter when absent, we do when present.	11 Considere ese tal que lo que somos de palabra por carta estando ausentes, lo seremos con los hechos cuando estemos presentes.
12 Not that we venture to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another, and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.	12 No nos atrevemos a equipararnos ni a compararnos con algunos de los que se recomiendan a sí mismos. Ellos, al medirse de acuerdo con la opinión propia y al compararse consigo mismos, actúan sin sentido.
13 But we will not boast beyond limit, but will keep to the limits God has apportioned us, to reach even to you.	13 Nosotros, por el contrario, no nos gloriaremos desmesuradamente, sino según la medida de la norma que Dios mismo nos ha asignado al hacernos llegar incluso hasta vosotros.
14 For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you; we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ.	14 Pues no nos extralimitamos, como si no hubiéramos llegado incluso hasta vosotros; de hecho, fuimos los primeros en llegar hasta vosotros con el Evangelio de Cristo.
15 We do not boast beyond limit, in other men's labors; but our hope is that as your faith increases, our field among you may be greatly enlarged,	15 Tampoco nos gloriamos más allá de la medida adecuada con sudores ajenos; esperamos más bien que, al crecer vuestra fe, podamos crecer aún más entre vosotros según nuestra medida,
16 so that we may preach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another's field.	16 hasta el punto de anunciar el Evangelio más allá de vosotros, aunque sin gloriarnos en territorio ajeno por trabajos ya realizados.
17 "Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord."	17 El que se gloría, que se gloríe en el Señor,
18 For it is not the man who commends himself that is accepted, but the man whom the Lord commends.	18 porque no está aprobado el que se recomienda a sí mismo, sino aquel a quien el Señor recomienda.
