1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God.	1 Paolo, servo di Gesù Cristo, chiamato apostolo, segregato pel Vangelo di Dio,
2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures,	2 Vangelo che Dio aveva già promesso per mezzo dei suoi profeti nelle sante Scritture,
3 the gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh	3 intorno al suo Figliolo, (fatto a lui dal seme di David, secondo la carne,
4 and designated Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,	4 predestinato Figliolo di Dio per propria virtù, secondo lo spirito di santificazione, per la risurrezione da morte), Gesù Cristo Signor nostro,

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.	8 Prima di tutto rendo grazie a Dio per mezzo di Gesù Cristo a riguardo di tutti voi, perchè la vostra fede è celebrata in tutto il mondo.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,	9 Dio, a cui servo nel mio spirito, evangelizzando il suo Figliolo, mi è testimone che mi ricordo continuamente e sempre
10 asking that somehow by God's will I may now at last succeed in coming to you.	10 di voi nelle mie orazioni, chiedendo che finalmente una volta, con la volontà di Dio, possa avere una felice occasione di venire a voi;
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,	11 perchè io bramo di vedervi, per comunicarvi qualche dono spirituale che vi conforti,
12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.	12 O meglio, per incoraggiarci scambievolmente mediante la fede che ci è comune, a voi e a me.
13 I want you to know, brethren, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.	13 Or io non voglio che voi ignoriate, o fratelli, come spesso abbia fatto il proposito di venire a voi, per raccogliere qualche frutto anche tra voi, come tra le altre nazioni, ma sono stato fino ad ora impedito.
14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish:	14 Io son debitore ai Greci e ai Barbari, ai sapienti ed agli ignoranti,
15 so I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.	15 quindi (quanto a me) sono pronto ad annunziare il Vangelo anche a voi che siete in Roma.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to every one who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.	16 Perchè io non mi vergogno del Vangelo, virtù di Dio a salvezza d'ogni credente, prima del Giudeo, poi del Greco.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "He who through faith is righteous shall live."	17 In esso infatti si manifesta la giustizia di Dio che vien dalla fede e tende alla fède, come sta scritto: Il giusto vive di fede.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth.	18 Or l'ira di Dio si manifesta dal cielo contro ogni empietà ed ingiustizia degli uomini che soffocano la verità di Dio nell'ingiustizia,
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.	19 perchè ciò che può conoscersi di Dio è in essi manifesto, avendolo Dio loro manifestato.
20 Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse;	20 Infatti le sue invisibili perfezioni, la sua eterna possanza, la sua divinità, dopo la creazione del mondo, sono rese visibili all'intelligenza, per mezzo delle creature.
21 for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened.	21 Quindi essi sono senza scusa, perchè avendo conosciuto Dio, non l'hanno glorificato come Dio, nè l'hanno ringraziato; ma han vaneggiato nei loro pensamenti e il loro stolto cuore s'è ravvolto nelle tenebre.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,	22 Vantandosi di essere saggi son divenuti pazzi,
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles.	23 ed han cangiato la gloria dell'incorruttibile Dio in simulacri di uomini corruttibili, di uccelli, di quadrupedi e di serpenti.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,	24 Per questo Dio li ha abbandonati ai desideri del loro cuore, all'immondezza, in modo che disonorino tra di loro i proprii corpi,
25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen.	25 così che han mutato la verità di Dio nella menzogna, e hanno adorato e servito la creatura invece del Creatore (il quale è benedetto in eterno. Così sia!)
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural,	26 Per questo Dio li ha abbandonati a passioni infami: le loro donne han cambiato l'uso naturale in quello che è contro natura,
27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.	27 e similmente gli uomini lasciata la naturale unione con la donna, arsero di libidine gli uni verso gli altri, facendo, uomini con uomini, delle turpitudini, e ricevendo in se stessi la condegna mercede della loro degenerazione.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.	28 E siccome non si son curati di riconoscere Dio, Dio li ha abbandonati al reprobo senso, in modo che fanno cose immorali.
29 They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips,	29 Son ricolmi di ogni iniquità, di malizia, di fornicazione, di avarizia, di malvagità, pieni d'invidia, di omicidio, di discordia, di frode, di malignità, sussurroni,
30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,	30 detrattori, nemici di Dio, oltraggiatori, superbi, millantatori, inventori di perversità, disubbidienti ai genitori, distolti, disordinati, senza amore, senza legge, spietati.
31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.	31 Essi, avendo conosciuta la giustizia di Dio, non compresero che chi fa tali cose è degno di morte; nè soltanto chi le fa, ma anche chi approva coloro che le fanno.
32 Though they know God's decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them.
