1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.	1 Non giudicate per non essere giudicati.
2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.	2 Perchè secondo il giudizio col quale giudicate, sarete giudicati, e con la misura colla quale misurate sarà rimisurato a voi.
3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?	3 E perchè osservi il bruscolo nell'occhio del tuo fratello, e non badi alla trave che è nell'occhio tuo?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?	4 E come puoi dire al tuo fratello: Lascia che ti levi dall'occhio il bruscolo, mentre hai una trave nel tuo occhio?
5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.	5 Ipocrita, cavati prima la trave dall'occhio, ed allora vedrai di levare il bruscolo dall'occhio del tuo fratello.
6 "Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.	6 Non date ai cani le cose sante, e non buttate le vostre perle ai porci, chè non le pestino coi piedi e si rivoltino a sbranarvi.
7 "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.	7 Chiedete e vi sarà dato: cercate e troverete: picchiate e vi sarà aperto.
8 For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.	8 Chè chiunque chiede, riceve: chi cerca, trova: e sarà aperto a chi picchia.
9 Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?	9 E chi è mai tra voi, che, se il figlio chiede del pane, gli porga un sasso?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?	10 e se chiede un pesce, gli dia un serpente?
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!	11 Se dunque voi, cattivi come siete, sapete dare dei buoni doni ai vostri figli, quanto piti il vostro Padre, che è nei cieli, concederà cose buone a coloro che gliele domandano!
12 So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.	12 Tutte le cose adunque che voi desiderate vi facciano gli uomini, queste voi fate ad essi. Questa infatti è la legge e i profeti.
13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.	13 Entrate per la porta stretta, perchè larga è la porta e spaziosa la via che mena alla perdizione e molti sono quelli che entrano per essa.
14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.	14 Quanto angusta è la porta e stretta la via che mena alla vita e quanto sono pochi quelli che la trovano!
15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.	15 Guardatevi dai falsi profeti, che vengono a voi travestiti da pecore; ma dentro son lupi rapaci.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?	16 Dai loro frutti li conoscerete. Si coglie forse dell'uva dalle spine, o dei fichi dai triboli?
17 So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit.	17 Così ogni albero buono dà buoni frutti, ed ogni albero cattivo dà frutti cattivi.
18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.	18 Non può l'albero buono dar frutti cattivi, nè l'albero cattivo dar frutti buoni.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.	19 Ogni pianta che non porta buon frutto vien tagliata e gettata nel fuoco.
20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.	20 Voi li riconoscerete dunque dai loro frutti.
21 "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.	21 N0n chi mi dice: Signore, Signore, entrerà nel regno dei cieli; ma chi fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli, questi entrerà nel regno dei cieli.
22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'	22 Molti mi diranno in quel giorno: Signore, Signore, non abbiamo noi profetato in nome tuo, e in nome tuo cacciati i demoni, e non abbiamo nel tuo nome fatti molti prodigi?
23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.'	23 E allora io dirò chiaramente ad essi: Non vi conobbi mai; andatevene da me voi tutti, operatori d'iniquità.
24 "Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock;	24 Chi pertanto ascolta queste mie parole e le mette in pratica, sarà paragonato ad un uomo avveduto che fondò la sua casa sulla roccia.
25 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.	25 E cadde la pioggia, e inondarono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti e imperversarono contro quella casa, ma essa non cadde, perchè era fondata sulla roccia.
26 And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand;	26 E chi ascolta queste mie parole e non le mette in pratica, sarà simile ad un uomo stolto, che edificò la sua casa sopra l'arena.
27 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it."	27 E cadde la pioggia, inondarono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti, e imperversarono contro quella casa, ed essa andò giù, e fu grande la sua rovina.
28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,	28 Or avendo Gesù terminati questi discorsi, le turbe restarono stupite della sua dottrina;
29 for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.	29 perchè egli le ammaestrava come uno che ha autorità, e non come gli Scribi e i Farisei.
