1 Now after the sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre.	1 Passato il sabato, al sorgere del primo giorno della settimana, venne Maria Maddalena con l'altra Maria a far visita al sepolcro.
2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.	2 Ed ecco, vi fu un gran terremoto: un angelo del Signore, infatti, sceso dal cielo, si avvicinò, rotolò la pietra e si mise a sedere su di essa.
3 His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.	3 Il suo aspetto era come la folgore e le sue vesti bianche come la neve.
4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.	4 Alla sua vista le guardie rimasero sconvolte e diventarono come morte.
5 But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.	5 L'angelo disse alle donne: "Non temete, voi! So che cercate Gesù crocifisso;
6 He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.	6 non è qui: è risorto, come aveva detto. Orsù, osservate il luogo dove giaceva.
7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Lo, I have told you."	7 E ora andate e dite ai suoi discepoli che egli è risorto dai morti e vi precede in Galilea; là lo vedrete. Ecco, ve l'ho detto".
8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.	8 Esse subito lasciarono il sepolcro e, piene di gran timore e di grande gioia insieme, corsero a portare l'annuncio ai suoi discepoli.
9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Hail!" And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshipped him.	9 Ed ecco: Gesù andò loro incontro dicendo: "Rallegratevi!". Esse, avvicinatesi, abbracciarono i suoi piedi e l'adorarono.
10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."	10 Allora disse loro Gesù: "Non temete; andate e annunziate ai miei fratelli che vadano in Galilea; là mi vedranno".
11 While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place.	11 Mentre esse erano per via, alcune delle guardie, recatesi in città, riferirono ai capi dei sacerdoti tutto l'accaduto.
12 And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers	12 Essi, radunatisi insieme agli anziani, dopo essersi consultati, diedero ai soldati una cospicua somma di denaro
13 and said, "Tell people, 'His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.'	13 dicendo: "Dite che di notte sono venuti i discepoli di lui e l'hanno portato via, mentre noi dormivamo.
14 And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."	14 Se la cosa dovesse giungere per caso alle orecchie del governatore, lo convinceremo noi a non darvi noia alcuna".
15 So they took the money and did as they were directed; and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.	15 Essi, preso il denaro, fecero secondo le istruzioni che avevano ricevuto. Così questa dicerìa si è diffusa presso i Giudei fino ad oggi.
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.	16 Gli undici discepoli se ne andarono in Galilea, sul monte, nel luogo indicato loro da Gesù.
17 And when they saw him they worshipped him; but some doubted.	17 Al vederlo lo adorarono; alcuni invece dubitarono.
18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.	18 Allora Gesù disse loro: "Ogni potere mi è stato dato in cielo e in terra.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,	19 Andate dunque, ammaestrate tutte le genti, battezzandole nel nome del Padre e del Figlio e dello Spirito Santo,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."	20 insegnando loro ad osservare tutto ciò che vi ho ordinato. Ed ecco: io sono con voi tutti i giorni, sino alla fine del mondo".
