1 In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.	1 La troisième année du règne du roi Baltassar, j'eus une vision. Moi, Daniel, après ce que j'avais vu au commencement,
2 And I saw in the vision; and when I saw, I was in Susa the capital, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision, and I was at the river Ulai.	2 je vis dans ma vision, lorsque j'étais au château de Suse, qui est au pays d'Elam ; je vis donc dans cette vision que j'étais à (sur) la porte de l'Ulaï.
3 I raised my eyes and saw, and behold, a ram standing on the bank of the river. It had two horns; and both horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.	3 Je levai les yeux et je vis ; et voici qu'un bélier se tenait devant le marais ; il avait des cornes élevées, et l'une était plus haute que l'autre et croissait peu à peu. Après cela
4 I saw the ram charging westward and northward and southward; no beast could stand before him, and there was no one who could rescue from his power; he did as he pleased and magnified himself.	4 je vis que ce bélier donnait des coups de corne contre l'occident, contre l'aquilon et contre le midi ; et toutes les (aucune) bête(s) ne pouvai(en)t lui résister, ni se délivrer de sa main ; il fit ce qu'il voulut, et il devint (très) puissant.
5 As I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth, without touching the ground; and the goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes.	5 Et j'étais attentif ; et voici qu'un bouc (de chèvres, note) venait de l'occident sur la face de toute la terre, sans toucher la terre ; or ce bouc avait une grande corne (remarquable) entre les yeux.
6 He came to the ram with the two horns, which I had seen standing on the bank of the river, and he ran at him in his mighty wrath.	6 Il vint jusqu'à ce bélier qui avait des cornes, et que j'avais vu se tenir devant la porte ; et il courut sur lui avec l'impétuosité de sa force.
7 I saw him come close to the ram, and he was enraged against him and struck the ram and broke his two horns; and the ram had no power to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground and trampled upon him; and there was no one who could rescue the ram from his power.	7 Lorsqu'il se fut approché du bélier, il l'attaqua avec furie et le frappa, et il lui brisa les deux cornes, sans que le bélier pût lui résister ; et l'ayant jeté par terre, il le foula aux pieds, et personne ne pouvait délivrer le bélier de sa main.
8 Then the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly; but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.	8 Or le bouc (des chèvres) devint extraordinairement grand, et, lorsqu'il eut crû, sa grande corne se rompit, et quatre cornes poussaient au-dessous, vers les quatre vents du ciel.
9 Out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land.	9 Mais de l'une d'elles il sortit une petite corne qui s'agrandit vers le midi, vers l'orient et vers la force.
10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven; and some of the host of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled upon them.	10 Et elle s'éleva jusqu'à la puissance (force) du ciel, et elle fit tomber (une partie) des forts et des étoiles, et elle les foula aux pieds.
11 It magnified itself, even up to the Prince of the host; and the continual burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown.	11 Elle s'éleva jusqu'au prince de la force, et lui enleva le sacrifice perpétuel, et renversa le lieu de son sanctuaire (sa sanctification).
12 And the host was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through transgression; and truth was cast down to the ground, and the horn acted and prospered.	12 La puissance lui fut donnée contre le sacrifice perpétuel à cause des péchés, et la vérité sera renversée sur la terre, et il agira et il réussira.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to the one that spoke, "For how long is the vision concerning the continual burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled under foot?"	13 Alors j'entendis un des saints qui parlait ; et un saint dit à un autre, je ne sais lequel, qui lui parlait : Jusques à quand durera la vision, et le sacrifice perpétuel, et le péché de désolation ? Jusques à quand le sanctuaire et la force seront-ils foulés aux pieds ?
14 And he said to him, "For two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state."	14 Et il lui dit : Jusques au soir et au matin, deux mille trois cents jours, et le sanctuaire sera purifié.
15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; and behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.	15 Or, tandis que moi, Daniel, j'avais cette vision et que j'en cherchais l'intelligence, voici qu'il se tint devant moi comme une figure d'homme.
16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it called, "Gabriel, make this man understand the vision."	16 Et j'entendis la voix d'un homme au milieu de (entre) l'Ulaï ; et il cria et dit : Gabriel, fais(-lui) comprendre cette vision.
17 So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was frightened and fell upon my face. But he said to me, "Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end."	17 Et il vint et se tint près du lieu où j'étais ; et lorsqu'il fut venu, effrayé je tombai le visage contre terre ; et il me dit : Comprends, fils de (d'un) l'homme, car la vision s'accomplira au temps de la fin.
18 As he was speaking to me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground; but he touched me and set me on my feet.	18 Et, comme il me parlait, je tombai le visage contre terre ; et il me toucha et me replaça debout,
19 He said, "Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for it pertains to the appointed time of the end.	19 puis il me dit : Je te montrerai ce qui doit arriver à la fin de la malédiction, car le temps s'accomplira (a sa fin).
20 As for the ram which you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia.	20 Le bélier que tu as vu, et qui avait des cornes, est le roi des Mèdes et des Perses.
21 And the he-goat is the king of Greece; and the great horn between his eyes is the first king.	21 (Mais) Le bouc (des chèvres) est le roi des Grecs, et la grande corne qui était entre ses yeux est le premier roi.
22 As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his nation, but not with his power.	22 Les quatre cornes qui se sont élevées après que la première a été rompue sont quatre rois qui s'élèveront de sa nation, mais non avec sa force ;
23 And at the latter end of their rule, when the transgressors have reached their full measure, a king of bold countenance, one who understands riddles, shall arise.	23 et après leur règne, lorsque les iniquités se seront accrues, il s'élèvera un roi au visage impudent et qui comprendra les énigmes (choses cachées).
24 His power shall be great, and he shall cause fearful destruction, and shall succeed in what he does, and destroy mighty men and the people of the saints.	24 Sa puissance s'accroîtra, mais non par ses propres forces, et il ravagera tout au-delà de ce que l'on peut croire ; et il réussira et agira. Il fera mourir les (des) forts et le (un) peuple de(s) saints,
25 By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall magnify himself. Without warning he shall destroy many; and he shall even rise up against the Prince of princes; but, by no human hand, he shall be broken.	25 selon sa volonté ; sa main dirigera la ruse (fraude) et son cœur deviendra arrogant, et, dans l'abondance des prospérités, il fera mourir beaucoup d'hommes ; il s'élèvera contre le prince des princes, puis il sera brisé sans la main des (d'aucun) homme(s).
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been told is true; but seal up the vision, for it pertains to many days hence."	26 Cette vision du soir et du matin dont il s'agit est véritable ; scelle donc cette vision, car elle n'arrivera qu'après des jours nombreux.
27 And I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days; then I rose and went about the king's business; but I was appalled by the vision and did not understand it.	27 Et moi, Daniel, je fus longuement malade pendant plusieurs jours ; et quand je me levai, je travaillais aux affaires du roi, et j'étais étonné (dans la stupeur au sujet) de la vision, et il n'y avait personne pour l'interpréter.
