Jeremiah 46

1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.	1 La parola, che Iddio disse a Ieremia profeta contro alle genti
2 About Egypt. Concerning the army of Pharaoh Neco, king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates at Carchemish and which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon defeated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:	2 d'Egitto, e incontro all' oste di Faraone Necao, re d'Egitto, il quale era a lato al fiume (che si chiama) Eufrate in Carcamis; lo quale percosse Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, nel quarto anno di Ioachim, figliuolo di Iosia, re di Giuda.
3 "Prepare buckler and shield, and advance for battle!	3 Apparecchiate lo scudo, e procedete alla battaglia.
4 Harness the horses; mount, O horsemen! Take your stations with your helmets, polish your spears, put on your coats of mail!	4 Giungete li cavalli, e assalite, cavalieri; e state con capelli di acciaio, e vestitevi le panciere; pulite (e acconciate) le lance.
5 Why have I seen it? They are dismayed and have turned backward. Their warriors are beaten down, and have fled in haste; they look not back--terror on every side! says the LORD.	5 Adunque perchè? Io li vidi smarriti, che volgeano le reni; li loro uomini forti, tagliati; e fuggirono commisti, e non ragguardarono; lo spavento era da ogni parte, dice lo Signore.
6 The swift cannot flee away, nor the warrior escape; in the north by the river Euphrates they have stumbled and fallen.	6 Lo veloce non fugga, e lo forte non si pensi d'essere salvo; egli sono superati dalla parte dell' aquilone, a lato al fiume Eufrate, e ruinorono.
7 "Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge?	7 Chi è questo, che sale quasi come uno fiume; nelli suoi gorghi ingrossato, quasi come fiume?
8 Egypt rises like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge. He said, I will rise, I will cover the earth, I will destroy cities and their inhabitants.	8 Egitto sale in similitudine di fiume, e come fiume si commoveranno le sue onde, e dirà: salendo coprirò la terra, e perderò la città e li abitatori suoi.
9 Advance, O horses, and rage, O chariots! Let the warriors go forth: men of Ethiopia and Put who handle the shield, men of Lud, skilled in handling the bow.	9 Salite in su' cavalli, ed esaltatevi in su li carri; e li forti procederanno, e quelli d' Etiopia e di Libia tenenti lo scudo, e quelli di Lidia tollenti e saettanti le saette.
10 That day is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, to avenge himself on his foes. The sword shall devour and be sated, and drink its fill of their blood. For the Lord GOD of hosts holds a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.	10 E quello di è del Signore delli esèrciti, [di] di vendetta, acciò che pigli vendetta de' suoi nimici; lo coltello divorerà, e sazierassi ed ebrierassi del loro sangue; e le bestie del sacrificio del Signore Iddio delli esèrciti [sono] nella terra d' aquilone, a lato al fiume (che si chiama) Eufrate.
11 Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain you have used many medicines; there is no healing for you.	11 Ascendi in Galaad, vergine figliuola d' Egitto, e togli la medicina; tu hai multiplicato indarno li (tuoi) medicamenti, non averai sanitade.
12 The nations have heard of your shame, and the earth is full of your cry; for warrior has stumbled against warrior; they have both fallen together."	12 Le genti hanno udita la tua vergogna; e lo tuo urlo ha ripiena la terra; però che lo forte e amendui caddero.
13 The word which the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:	13 Le parole, che parlò Iddio a Ieremia profeta, sopra quello che dovea venire Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e dovea percuotere la terra d' Egitto:
14 "Declare in Egypt, and proclaim in Migdol; proclaim in Memphis and Tahpanhes; Say, 'Stand ready and be prepared, for the sword shall devour round about you.'	14 Annunziatelo all' Egitto, e fatelo udire in Magdalo, e risuoni in Menfis e in Tafnis, dite: sta, e accònciati; però che lo coltello divorerà tutte queste cose che sono nel circuito tuo.
15 Why has Apis fled? Why did not your bull stand? Because the LORD thrust him down.	15 Or la tua fortezza per che è infracidata? non stette forte, però che lo Signore l' ha rivoltata.
16 Your multitude stumbled and fell, and they said one to another, 'Arise, and let us go back to our own people and to the land of our birth, because of the sword of the oppressor.'	16 E multiplicò le (loro) ruine, e cadè l' uomo al suo prossimo, e dirà: lièvati suso, e ritorniamo al populo nostro, e alla terra della nostra nativitade, dalla faccia del coltello della colomba.
17 Call the name of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, 'Noisy one who lets the hour go by.'	17 Chiamate lo nome di Faraone, re d' Egitto; lo tempo hae addotto lo tumulto.
18 "As I live, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, shall one come.	18 Disse lo re: io vivo; lo suo nome si è Signore delli esèrciti; chè come Tabor viene nelli monti (perciò che è monte molto grasso), e come Carmelo in mare, verrà.
19 Prepare yourselves baggage for exile, O inhabitants of Egypt! For Memphis shall become a waste, a ruin, without inhabitant.	19 Fae a te vasi della transmigrazione (tua), abitatrice delli figliuoli d'Egitto; però che Memfis (cioè quella terra) sarà in solitudine, e sarà abbandonata sanza abitatore.
20 "A beautiful heifer is Egypt, but a gadfly from the north has come upon her.	20 È Egitto vitella allegra e formosa; a lei verrà lo stimolatore dall' aquilone.
21 Even her hired soldiers in her midst are like fatted calves; yea, they have turned and fled together, they did not stand; for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.	21 E li suoi mercenari, li quali si volgevano nel mezzo di lei, quasi come vitelli grassi si son rivolti, e fuggirono insieme, e non poterono istare; però che lo di della uccisione venne sopra loro, lo tempo della loro visitazione.
22 "She makes a sound like a serpent gliding away; for her enemies march in force, and come against her with axes, like those who fell trees.	22 E la sua voce sonerà quasi come suono di metallo; però che s' appresseranno con l'oste, e verranno a lei con le mannaie, quasi come taglianti legne.
23 They shall cut down her forest, says the LORD, though it is impenetrable, because they are more numerous than locusts; they are without number.	23 Cosi tagliarono lo suo salto, dice Iddio, il quale non si puote acconciare; e sono multiplicati più che li grilli, e non si puote dire lo numero.
24 The daughter of Egypt shall be put to shame, she shall be delivered into the hand of a people from the north."	24 La figliuola d' Egitto sì è confusa, e si è data nella mano del populo di aquilone.
25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, said: "Behold, I am bringing punishment upon Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt and her gods and her kings, upon Pharaoh and those who trust in him.	25 E disse lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: ecco io visiterò sopra lo tumulto (cioè a dire quando è uno grande furore di gente) d' Alessandria, e sopra Faraone, e sopra Egitto, e sopra li suoi iddii, e sopra li suoi re, e sopra [Faraone, e sopra] quelli che si confidano in lui.
26 I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their life, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and his officers. Afterward Egypt shall be inhabited as in the days of old, says the LORD.	26 E darò loro in mano di quelli che domandano l' anime loro; e in mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e in mano de' suoi servi; e poi sarà abitata come era nel tempo di prima, dice Iddio.
27 "But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel; for lo, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.	27 E tu, servo mio Iacob, non temere, e, Israel, non avere paura; però che io ti farò salvo da lunga parte, e lo tuo seme della terra della tua prigionia; e Iacob tornerà, e riposerassi e averà prosperità, e non sarà chi lo isbandisca.
28 Fear not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD, for I am with you. I will make a full end of all the nations to which I have driven you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will chasten you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished."	28 E tu, Iacob servo mio, non temere, dice Iddio; però ch' io sono con teco, e consumerò tutte le genti alle quali io ti cacciai; ma te non consumerò io, ma castigherotti in giudicio, e non ti perdonerò come ad innocente.
