Jeremiah 46

1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.	1 Parola del Signore che fu rivolta al profeta Geremia sulle nazioni.
2 About Egypt. Concerning the army of Pharaoh Neco, king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates at Carchemish and which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon defeated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:	2 Per l'Egitto. 4 Harness the horses; mount, O horsemen! Take your stations with your helmets, polish your spears, put on your coats of mail!	4 Attaccate i cavalli, montate, o cavalieri. Schieratevi con gli elmi, lucidate le lance, indossate le corazze!
5 Why have I seen it? They are dismayed and have turned backward. Their warriors are beaten down, and have fled in haste; they look not back--terror on every side! says the LORD.	5 Che vedo? Sono sbigottito, retrocedono! I loro prodi sono sconfitti, fuggono a precipizio senza voltarsi; il terrore è tutt'intorno. Parola del Signore.
6 The swift cannot flee away, nor the warrior escape; in the north by the river Euphrates they have stumbled and fallen.	6 Il più agile non scamperà né il più prode si salverà. A settentrione, sulla riva dell'Eufrate, inciampano e cadono.
7 "Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge?	7 Chi è che trabocca come il Nilo, come un torrente dalle acque turbolente?
8 Egypt rises like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge. He said, I will rise, I will cover the earth, I will destroy cities and their inhabitants.	8 È l'Egitto che trabocca come il Nilo, come un torrente dalle acque turbolente. 9 Advance, O horses, and rage, O chariots! Let the warriors go forth: men of Ethiopia and Put who handle the shield, men of Lud, skilled in handling the bow.	9 Caricate, cavalli, avanzate, carri! 10 That day is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, to avenge himself on his foes. The sword shall devour and be sated, and drink its fill of their blood. For the Lord GOD of hosts holds a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.	10 Ma quel giorno per il Signore Dio degli eserciti, è un giorno di vendetta, per vendicarsi dei suoi nemici. 15 Why has Apis fled? Why did not your bull stand? Because the LORD thrust him down.	15 Perché mai Api è fuggito? Il tuo toro sacro non resiste? Il Signore lo ha rovesciato.
16 Your multitude stumbled and fell, and they said one to another, 'Arise, and let us go back to our own people and to the land of our birth, because of the sword of the oppressor.'	16 Una gran folla vacilla e stramazza, ognuno dice al vicino: "Su, torniamo al nostro popolo, al paese dove siamo nati, lontano dalla spada micidiale!".
17 Call the name of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, 'Noisy one who lets the hour go by.'	17 Chiamate pure il faraone re d'Egitto: Frastuono, che lascia passare il momento buono.
18 "As I live, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, shall one come.	18 Per la mia vita - dice il re il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti - uno verrà, simile al Tabor fra le montagne, come il Carmelo presso il mare.
19 Prepare yourselves baggage for exile, O inhabitants of Egypt! For Memphis shall become a waste, a ruin, without inhabitant.	19 Prepàrati il bagaglio per l'esilio, o gente che abiti l'Egitto, perché Menfi sarà ridotta a un deserto, sarà devastata, senza abitanti.
20 "A beautiful heifer is Egypt, but a gadfly from the north has come upon her.	20 Giovenca bellissima è l'Egitto, ma un tafano viene su di lei dal settentrione.
21 Even her hired soldiers in her midst are like fatted calves; yea, they have turned and fled together, they did not stand; for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.	21 Anche i suoi mercenari nel paese sono come vitelli da ingrasso. Anch'essi infatti han voltate le spalle, fuggono insieme, non resistono, poiché il giorno della sventura è giunto su di loro, il tempo del loro castigo.
22 "She makes a sound like a serpent gliding away; for her enemies march in force, and come against her with axes, like those who fell trees.	22 La sua voce è come di serpente che sibila, poiché essi avanzano con un esercito e armati di scure vengono contro di lei, come tagliaboschi.

26 I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their life, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and his officers. Afterward Egypt shall be inhabited as in the days of old, says the LORD.	26 Li consegnerò in potere di coloro che attentano alla loro vita, in potere di Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia e in potere dei suoi ministri. 27 "But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel; for lo, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.	27 "Ma tu non temere, Giacobbe mio servo, non abbatterti, Israele; poiché ecco, io ti libererò da un paese lontano e la tua discendenza dal paese del suo esilio. Giacobbe ritornerà e godrà in pace, tranquillo e nessuno lo molesterà.
28 Fear not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD, for I am with you. I will make a full end of all the nations to which I have driven you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will chasten you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished."	28 Tu non temere, Giacobbe mio servo, - dice il Signore - perché io sono con te. Annienterò tutte le nazioni tra le quali ti ho disperso, ma di te non farò sterminio; ti castigherò secondo equità, ma non ti lascerò del tutto impunito".
