Jeremiah 29

1 These are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.	1 Queste son le parole della lettera che il profeta Geremia mandò da Gerusalemme al resto degli anziani degli esuli, ai sacerdoti, ai profeti e a tutto il popolo che era stato deportato da Nabucodonosor a Babilonia da Gerusalemme,
2 This was after King Jeconiah, and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.	2 dopo che furono partiti da Gerusalemme il re Geeonia, e la regina madre, gli eunuchi, i principi di Giuda e di Gerusalemme, gli artigiani, i gioiellieri.
3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said:	3 (La lettera la mandò) per mezzo di Elusa, figlio di Safan, di Gaaria, figlio d'Elcia, mandati a Babilonia, al re Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, da Sedecia, re di Giuda. Diceva:
4 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:	4 « Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele, a tutti gli esuli che io ho fatti deportare da Gerusalemme a Babilonia:
5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce.	5 Fabbricate delle case e abitatevi, piantate orti e mangiatene il frutto;
6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.	6 sposate, generate figli e figlie, date moglie ai vostri figli, maritate le vostre figliole, affinchè facciano figli e figlie, e vi moltiplichiate costà, per non ridurvi a pochi di numero.
7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.	7 Procurate il bene della città dove io v'ho fatti transmigrare, e pregante il Signore per essa, perchè il suo bene sarà vostro bene.
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams which they dream,	8 Infatti ecco quanto dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Non vi lasciate sedurre dai vostri profeti che stanno in mezzo a voi, nè dai vostri indovini, non date retta ai sogni da voi sognati;
9 for it is a lie which they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, says the LORD.	9 perchè non è vero che essi profetino a voi in nome mio: io non li ho mandati dice il Signore.
10 "For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfil to you my promise and bring you back to this place.	10 Ed ora ecco quanto dice il Signore: Quando saran per filo re i settanta anni in Babilonia, io vi visiterò, e compirò in vostro favore la mia buona parola di ricondurvi in questo luogo.
11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.	11 Io conosco bene i disegni che ho fatti sopra di voi — dice il Signore — disegni di pace e non d'afflizione, per darvi l'avvenire e la pazienza.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.	12 Voi mi invocherete e partirete; mi pregherete e v'esaudirò.
13 You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart,	13 Mi cercherete e mi troverete, quando mi cercherete con tutto il vostro cuore.
14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.	14 Io mi farò trovare da voi — dice il Signore — io vi tarò tornare dalla vostra schiavitù, io vi radunerò da tutte le nazioni, da tutti i paesi, nei quali v'ho dispersi — dice il Signore — io vi farò tornare dal luogo ove vi feci andare esuli.
15 "Because you have said, 'The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,--	15 Ma voi dite: — Il Signore ci ha donati dei profeti in Babilonia.
16 Thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your kinsmen who did not go out with you into exile:	16 Or ecco quanto dice il Signore al re che siede sul trono di David, e a tutto il popolo che abita questa città, ai vostri fratelli che non sono stati deportati come voi,
17 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I am sending on them sword, famine, and pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs which are so bad they cannot be eaten.	17 queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: — Ecco io manderò contro di loro la spada, la fame e la peste, li tratterò come fichi cattivi che non possono esser mangiati da quanto son guasti,
18 I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a terror, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,	18 il perseguiterò colla spada, colla fame, colla peste, li farò disperdere per tutti i regni della terra, maledizione, spavento, scherno, obbrobrio di tutte le nazioni tra le quali li avrò cacciati;
19 because they did not heed my words, says the LORD, which I persistently sent to you by my servants the prophets, but you would not listen, says the LORD.--	19 perchè essi non hanno ascoltate le mie parole — dice il Signore che io ho loro rivolte per mezzo dei profeti miei servi; con ogni sollecitudine ho mandato, ma voi non siete stati a sentire dice il Signore.
20 Hear the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon:	20 Or dunque ascoltate la parola del Signore, nvoi tutti, o esuli, che io ho fatti tdeportare da Gerusalemme a Bapbilonia.
21 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Ma-aseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.	21 Ecco quanto dice il Signore idegli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele, ad Acab figlio di Colia, e a Sedecia figlio di Maasia, i quali in mio nome vi profetizzano menzogne: Ecco io li darò nelle mani di Nambucodonosor re di Babilonia, che li farà morire sotto i vostri occhi.
22 Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,"	22 E saran presi come (esempio di) maledizione da tutti gli esuli di Giuda che sono in Babilonia, i quali diranno: « Il Signore ti faccia come a Sedecia e ad Acab, che il re di Babilonia frisse nel fuoco ».
23 because they have committed folly in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words which I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, says the LORD.'"	23 Perchè han commesso istoltezze in Israele, han commesso adulterio colle mogli dei loro amici, e in nome mio han dette menzogne, cose da me non comandate. Io sono il giudice e il testimone — dice il Signore.
24 To Shemaiah of Nehelam you shall say:	24 Dirai poi a Semeia Nehelamite:
25 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Ma-aseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,	25 Ecco quanto dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: « Tu di tuo capriccio mandasti lettere a tutto il popolo che è in Gerusalemme, e al sacerdote Sofonia figlio di Maasia, e a tutti i sacerdoti, dicendo:
26 'The LORD has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the LORD over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and collar.	26 Il Signore ti ha fatto sacerdote in luogo di Ioiada, affinchè tu sia a capo della casa del Signore, (con autorità) contro ogni fanatico che profetizza, e lo metta in ceppi e in prigione.
27 Now why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who is prophesying to you?	27 Ed ora perchè non hai ripreso Geremia di Anatot, che fa tra voi il profeta?
28 For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, "Your exile will be long; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their produce."'"	28 Egli per di più ha mandato a dire a noi in Babilonia: — La cosa va in lungo: fabbricate delle case e abitatele, piantate dei giardini e mangiate6 ne i frutti ».
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.	29 Avendo il sacerdote Sofonia letta questa lettera al profeta Geremia,
30 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:	30 la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Geremia in questi termini:
31 "Send to all the exiles, saying, 'Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you when I did not send him, and has made you trust in a lie,	31 Manda a dire a tutti gli esuli: Ecco quanto dice il Signore riguardo a Semeia Nehelamite: Siccome Semeia vi ha profetizzato senza alcun mio mandato, e vi ha fatti confidare nella menzogna,
32 therefore thus says the LORD: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants; he shall not have any one living among this people to see the good that I will do to my people, says the LORD, for he has talked rebellion against the LORD.'"	32 per questo, così parla il Signore: Io castigherò Semeia Nehelamite e la sua stirpe, della quale non vi sarà nessuno che si assida in mezzo a questo popolo o che vegga il bene che io farò al mio popolo, perchè ha parlato di rivolta contro il Signore ».
