Jeremiah 29

1 These are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.	1 Eis as palavras da carta que o profeta Jeremias enviou de Jerusalém aos anciãos que ficaram no cativeiro, aos sacerdotes, aos profetas e a todo o povo, que Nabucodonosor tinha deportado de Jerusalém para Babilônia,
2 This was after King Jeconiah, and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.	2 depois que o rei Jeconias e a rainha, os eunucos, os príncipes de Judá e de Jerusalém, os carpinteiros e os serralheiros saíram de Jerusalém,
3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said:	3 (a qual carta Jeremias mandou) por mão de Elasa, filho de Safan, e de Gamarias, filho de Helcias, os quais enviou Sedecias, rei de Judá, a Babilônia, a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia. A carta dizia:
4 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:	4 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a todos os cativos deportados de Jerusalém a Babilônia:
5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce.	5 Edificai casas e habitai-as; plantai hortas e comei os seus frutos (porque haveis de estar aqui muito tempo);
6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.	6 tomai mulheres, gerai filhos e filhas, dai a vossos filhos mulheres e dai maridos a vossas filhas, para que criem filhos e filhas; multiplicai-vos aí e não deixeis diminuir o vosso número.
7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.	7 Procurai o bem da cidade, para a qual vos fiz deportar, e orai por ela ao Senhor, porque o seu bem será o vosso.
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams which they dream,	8 Porque isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Não vos seduzam os vossos profetas, que estão no meio de vós, nem os vossos adivinhos, e não façais caso dos sonhos que tendes.
9 for it is a lie which they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, says the LORD.	9 Com efeito eles vos profetizam falsamente em meu nome e eu não os enviei, diz o Senhor.
10 "For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfil to you my promise and bring you back to this place.	10 Porque isto diz o Senhor: Quando se cumprirem os setenta anos (da vossa estada) em Babilônia, eu vos visitarei e darei cumprimento à promessa feita em vosso favor de vos fazer voltar a este lugar.
11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.	11 De facto sei os desígnios que tenho àcerca de vós, diz o Senhor, desígnios de paz, e não de aflição, no sentido de vos assegurar um futuro cheio de esperança.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.	12 Vós me invocareis, vireis, suplicar-me-eis, e eu vos atenderei.
13 You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart,	13 Buscar-me-eis e me achareis, quando me buscardes de todo o vosso coração.
14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.	14 Deixar-me-ei achar por vós, diz o Senhor: farei voltar os vossos cativos, recolher-vos-ei do meio de todos os povos e de todos os lugares por onde vos dispersei, diz o Senhor, e far-vos-ei voltar ao lugar donde vos lancei fora.
15 "Because you have said, 'The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,--	15 Porém vós dizeis: O Senhor suscitou-nos profetas em Babilônia.
16 Thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your kinsmen who did not go out with you into exile:	16 Eis o que diz o Senhor a respeito do rei, que está sentado sobre o trono de Davide, e de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, dos vossos irmãos que não saíram convosco para o cativeiro.
17 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I am sending on them sword, famine, and pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs which are so bad they cannot be eaten.	17 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos: Vou enviar contra eles a espada, a fome e a peste; trata-los-ei como figos maus, que se não podem comer, porque são muito maus.
18 I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a terror, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,	18 Persegui-los-ei com a espada, com a fome e com a peste, e farei deles um objecto de horror para todos os reinos da terra, um objecto de maldição, de espanto, de escárnio e de opróbrio para todas as nações para onde os tiver lançado,
19 because they did not heed my words, says the LORD, which I persistently sent to you by my servants the prophets, but you would not listen, says the LORD.--	19 porque não deram ouvidos às minhas palavras, diz o Senhor, tendo-lhes eu mandado os meus servos, os profetas, tendo-os enviado incessantemente; vós não ouvistes, diz o Senhor.
20 Hear the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon:	20 Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor, vós todos cativos, que enviei de Jerusalém a Babilônia.
21 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Ma-aseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.	21 Isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a Acab, filho de Colias, e a Sedecias filho de Maasias, que vos profetizam falsamente em meu nome: Vou entregá-los nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, que os mandará matar diante dos vossos olhos.
22 Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,"	22 Todo o cativo de Judá, que está em Babilônia, se servirá deles para maldizer, dizendo: O Senhor te trate como tratou Sedecias e Acab, que o rei de Babilônia mandou assar no fogo.
23 because they have committed folly in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words which I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, says the LORD.'"	23 Isto por causa de terem feito iniquidades em Israel, adulterado com as mulheres dos outros, e pronunciado falsamente em meu nome palavras que eu lhes não tinha mandado dizer. Eu o sei e sou disso testemunha, diz o Senhor.
24 To Shemaiah of Nehelam you shall say:	24 E a Semeias, Neelamita, dirás:
25 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Ma-aseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,	25 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Visto que enviaste cartas em teu nome a todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, ao sacerdote Sofonias, filho de Maasias, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26 'The LORD has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the LORD over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and collar.	26 O Senhor te constituiu sacerdote em lugar do sacerdote Jojada, a fim de que exerças vigilância na casa do Senhor, sobre todo o homem fanático que profetiza, para que o metas no cepo e no cárcere.
27 Now why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who is prophesying to you?	27 - qual a razão por que não repreendeste a Jeremias, de Anatot, que vos profetiza?
28 For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, "Your exile will be long; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their produce."'"	28 Graças a isso, ele pôde mandar-nos dizer a Babilônia: Será longo (o vosso cativeiro); edificai casas e habitai-as; plantai hortas e comei os seus frutos.
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.	29 Leu, pois, o sacerdote Sofonias esta carta aos ouvidos do profeta Jeremias.
30 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:	30 E foi dirigida a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, nos termos seguintes:
31 "Send to all the exiles, saying, 'Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you when I did not send him, and has made you trust in a lie,	31 Manda dizer a todos os deportados: Assim fala o Senhor a Semeias, Neelamita: Porque vos profetizou Semeias, e eu não o enviei; visto que fez com que confiásseis na mentira,
32 therefore thus says the LORD: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants; he shall not have any one living among this people to see the good that I will do to my people, says the LORD, for he has talked rebellion against the LORD.'"	32 portanto isto diz o Senho: Eis que castigarei Semeias, Neelamita, e a sua geração; não haverá dele descendente que viva no meio deste povo, e não verá o bem (ou a liberdade) que concederei ao meu povo, diz o Senhor, porque pregou a revolta contra o Senhor.
