Jeremiah 16

1 The word of the LORD came to me:	1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
2 "You shall not take a wife, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place.	2 «Non prender moglie, per non aver figli e figlie in questo luogo».
3 For thus says the LORD concerning the sons and daughters who are born in this place, and concerning the mothers who bore them and the fathers who begot them in this land:	3 Perchè questo dice il Signore, contro i figli e le figlie che nascono in questo luogo e contro le madri loro che li hanno dati alla luce e contro i loro padri dai quali sono stati procreati su questo suolo:
4 They shall die of deadly diseases. They shall not be lamented, nor shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. They shall perish by the sword and by famine, and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth.	4 «Moriranno di vari morbi, illacrimati e insepolti resteranno per ingrasso sopra la superficie del suolo, e saranno decimati dalla spada e dalla fame e i loro cadaveri saranno in pasto agli uccelli del cielo e alle bestie della terra».
5 "For thus says the LORD: Do not enter the house of mourning, or go to lament, or bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, says the LORD, my steadfast love and mercy.	5 Perchè il Signore dice questo: «Tu non entrare alle funebri mense nelle case, non recarti a fare il compianto, nè a condolerti con loro, perchè io ho ritirato la mia pace da questo popolo, dice il Signore, e la misericordia e la compassione.
6 Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them or cut himself or make himself bald for them.	6 E morranno i grandi e i piccoli in questa terra, non saranno seppelliti, nè pianti, e non si scarnificheranno, nè si scalveranno per essi.
7 No one shall break bread for the mourner, to comfort him for the dead; nor shall any one give him the cup of consolation to drink for his father or his mother.	7 Tra loro non spezzeranno più il pane per dar consolazione all'afflitto in morte di uno, nè gli offriranno la coppa esilarante a confortarlo pel padre suo e per la madre.
8 You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and drink.	8 Non entrare in case di conviti per esser commensale con essi e per mangiare e bere,
9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will make to cease from this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.	9 perchè il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele dice così: - Ecco che io sotto ai vostri occhi e nei vostri giorni farò sparire da questo luogo la voce della gioia e la voce dell'allegria, la voce dello sposo e la voce della sposa.-
10 "And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, 'Why has the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?'	10 E quando avrai annunziato a cotesto popolo tutte queste parole e ti avranno detto: - Ma perchè il Signore ha pronunziato contro di noi tutti questi mali così grandi? quale è la nostra colpa? quale è il peccato che abbiam commesso contro il Signore Dio nostro? -
11 then you shall say to them: 'Because your fathers have forsaken me, says the LORD, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law,	11 Dirai loro: - Perchè i padri vostri hanno abbandonato me, dice il Signore, e se ne andarono dietro agli dèi stranieri e li servirono e li adorarono e me abbandonarono e non conservarono la mia legge.
12 and because you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his stubborn evil will, refusing to listen to me;	12 Ma voi ancora avete fatto peggio dei vostri padri: eccovi, ciascuno va a seconda della depravazione del suo cuore malvagio per non dare ascolto a me!
13 therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.'	13 E io vi caccerò da questa terra in un'altra terra che non avete conosciuta, nè voi nè i vostri padri, e là presterete servigio a dèi stranieri, giorno e notte, i quali non vi daranno riposo.-
14 "Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when it shall no longer be said, 'As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,'	14 Per questo ecco che verrà giorno, dice il Signore, in cui non si dirà più: - Vive il Signore che condusse via i figli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto! -
15 but 'As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.' For I will bring them back to their own land which I gave to their fathers.	15 ma: - Vive il Signore che condusse via i figli di Israele dalla terra del settentrione e da tutte le regioni nelle quali li avrò scacciati! - E io li ricondurrò sulla propria terra che aveva dato ai padri loro.
16 "Behold, I am sending for many fishers, says the LORD, and they shall catch them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.	16 Ecco che io manderò molti pescatori, dice il Signore, e li pescheranno e di poi manderò molti cacciatori e andranno in caccia di essi per tutti i monti e per tutti i colli e nelle caverne delle rocce.
17 For my eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.	17 Perchè gli occhi miei vegliano su tutti i loro procedimenti, non sono nascosti alla mia vista, e non è rimasta occulta agli occhi miei la loro iniquità.
18 And I will doubly recompense their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations."	18 Quindi li ripagherò primieramente delle loro raddoppiate iniquità e dei loro peccati, perchè hanno contaminata la mia terra coi cadaveri dei loro idoli e hanno ripiena delle loro abominazioni la mia eredità».
19 O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: "Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.	19 Signore, mia forza e mia fortezza e mio rifugio, nel giorno della tribolazione! A te verranno dall'estremità della terra le genti e diranno: «I nostri padri ebbero veramente in retaggio la menzogna, vanità che non giovò a loro nulla».
20 Can man make for himself gods? Such are no gods!"	20 L'uomo si fabbricherà forse gli dèi, i quali non siano che dei?
21 "Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD."	21 Per questo, ecco che mostrerò loro io una buona volta, mostrerò loro la mia mano e la mia potenza, e conosceranno che il mio nome è "il Signore".
