Jeremiah 15

1 Then the LORD said to me, "Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!	1 Il Signore mi disse: "Anche se si presentassero Mosè e Samuele al mio cospetto, non avrei cuore per questo popolo. Caccialo dalla mia presenza; che se ne vada!
2 And when they ask you, 'Where shall we go?' you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Those who are for pestilence, to pestilence, and those who are for the sword, to the sword; those who are for famine, to famine, and those who are for captivity, to captivity."'	2 Se poi ti diranno: "Dove andremo?", allora dirai loro: Così dice il Signore: Chi è per la morte alla morte! Chi è per la spada alla spada! Chi è per la fame alla fame! E chi è per la schiavitù alla schiavitù!
3 "I will appoint over them four kinds of destroyers, says the LORD: the sword to slay, the dogs to tear, and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.	3 Io li punirò con quattro tipi di mali, oracolo del Signore: con la spada per massacrare; con i cani per sbranare; con i volatili del cielo e con le bestie del paese per divorare e distruggere.
4 And I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, did in Jerusalem.	4 Io li renderò uno spavento per tutti i regni del paese, a causa di Manasse, figlio di Ezechia, re di Giuda, per quanto ha fatto in Gerusalemme".
5 "Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will bemoan you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?	5 "Chi, dunque, avrà compassione di te, o Gerusalemme, chi farà cordoglio per te? E chi si volterà per domandare della tua salute?
6 You have rejected me, says the LORD, you keep going backward; so I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you;--I am weary of relenting.	6 Tu mi hai respinto, oracolo del Signore, mi hai voltato le spalle. Così ho steso la mia mano contro di te e ti ho distrutta. Sono stanco di aver compassione.
7 I have winnowed them with a winnowing fork in the gates of the land; I have bereaved them, I have destroyed my people; they did not turn from their ways.	7 Perciò li ho ventilati con il ventilabro alle porte del paese. Ho privato di figli, ho fatto perire il mio popolo, perché dalla loro condotta non si sono ritirati.
8 I have made their widows more in number than the sand of the seas; I have brought against the mothers of young men a destroyer at noonday; I have made anguish and terror fall upon them suddenly.	8 Sono aumentate le loro vedove più che la sabbia del mare. Faccio venire contro di loro e contro la madre del guerriero un devastatore a mezzogiorno; faccio cadere su di loro, all'improvviso, terrore e spavento.
9 She who bore seven has languished; she has swooned away; her sun went down while it was yet day; she has been shamed and disgraced. And the rest of them I will give to the sword before their enemies, says the LORD."	9 Langue la madre di sette figli: è sola la sua anima; cala il suo sole quando ancora è giorno; è vergognosa e confusa, mentre il suo residuo lo consegnerò alla spada di fronte ai suoi nemici". Oracolo del Signore.
10 Woe is me, my mother, that you bore me, a man of strife and contention to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have I borrowed, yet all of them curse me.	10 Ahimè, madre mia, che mi hai generato quale uomo di litigio e discordia per tutto il paese. Non do credito né danno credito a me; tutti mi maledicono.
11 So let it be, O LORD, if I have not entreated thee for their good, if I have not pleaded with thee on behalf of the enemy in the time of trouble and in the time of distress!	11 Dice il Signore: "Non ti ho, forse, assistito per il meglio? Non ho, forse, imposto su di te, nel tempo della malvagità e dell'angustia, l'inimicizia?
12 Can one break iron, iron from the north, and bronze?	12 Spezzerà, forse, il ferro il ferro del nord e il rame?
13 "Your wealth and your treasures I will give as spoil, without price, for all your sins, throughout all your territory.	13 La tua ricchezza e i tuoi tesori lascerò depredare senza compenso, per tutti i tuoi peccati e in tutti i tuoi confini.
14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land which you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled which shall burn for ever."	14 Io ti farò servire il tuo nemico in un paese che non conosci, perché un fuoco s'è acceso nella mia ira: contro di voi si accenderà".
15 O LORD, thou knowest; remember me and visit me, and take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In thy forbearance take me not away; know that for thy sake I bear reproach.	15 Tu lo sai, Signore! Ricordati di me e visitami e vendicami contro i miei persecutori; nella lentezza della tua ira non lasciarmi perire; sappi che ho portato, per causa tua, l'obbrobrio.
16 Thy words were found, and I ate them, and thy words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by thy name, O LORD, God of hosts.	16 Furon trovate le tue parole e le divorai; una gioia fu per me la tua parola e una letizia per il mio cuore, perché il tuo nome veniva invocato su di me, Signore, Dio degli eserciti!
17 I did not sit in the company of merrymakers, nor did I rejoice; I sat alone, because thy hand was upon me, for thou hadst filled me with indignation.	17 Non mi son seduto per divertirmi nell'assemblea dei beffardi. A causa della tua mano solitario mi son seduto, perché di sdegno mi avevi riempito.
18 Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Wilt thou be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?	18 Perché deve durare il mio dolore per sempre e la ferita mia è incurabile, senza guarigione? Vorrai essere per me come un bugiardo, come acqua inquinata?
19 Therefore thus says the LORD: "If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.	19 Per questo dice il Signore: "Se vuoi ritornare, ti farò ritornare, al mio cospetto resterai; e se tu produrrai cose meritevoli, prive di viltà, quale bocca mia tu sarai. Ritorneranno essi a te, ma tu non tornerai a loro.
20 And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, says the LORD.	20 Io ti renderò di fronte a questo popolo qual muro di bronzo fortificato; combatteranno contro di te, ma contro di te non prevarranno, perché io sono con te, per salvarti e liberarti. Oracolo del Signore!
21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless."	21 Io ti libererò dalla mano malvagia e ti strapperò dal pugno dei violenti".
