Sirach 35

1 He who keeps the law makes many offerings; he who heeds the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.	1 Kto zachowuje Prawo, mnoży ofiary, a kto zważa na przykazania, składa ofiary dziękczynne.
2 He who returns a kindness offers fine flour, and he who gives alms sacrifices a thank offering.	2 Kto świadczy dobrodziejstwa, przynosi ofiary z najczystszej mąki, a kto daje jałmużnę, składa ofiarę uwielbienia.
3 To keep from wickedness is pleasing to the Lord, and to forsake unrighteousness is atonement.	3 Oddalenie się od zła jest upodobaniem Pana, a oddalenie się od niesprawiedliwości jest jak ofiara przebłagalna.
4 Do not appear before the Lord empty-handed,	4 Nie ukazuj się przed Panem z próżnymi rękami, wszystko to bowiem [dzieje się] według przykazania.
5 for all these things are to be done because of the commandment.	5 Dar ofiarny sprawiedliwego namaszcza ołtarz tłustością, a przyjemny jej zapach unosi się przed Najwyższego.
6 The offering of a righteous man anoints the altar, and its pleasing odor rises before the Most High.	6 Ofiara męża sprawiedliwego jest przyjemna, a pamięć o niej nie pójdzie w zapomnienie.
7 The sacrifice of a righteous man is acceptable, and the memory of it will not be forgotten.	7 Chwal Pana hojnym darem i nie zmniejszaj ofiary z pierwocin rąk twoich!
8 Glorify the Lord generously, and do not stint the first fruits of your hands.	8 Przy każdym darze twarz twoją rozpogódź i z weselem poświęć dziesięcinę!
9 With every gift show a cheerful face, and dedicate your tithe with gladness.	9 Dawaj Najwyższemu tak, jak On ci daje, hojny dar według swej możności!
10 Give to the Most High as he has given, and as generously as your hand has found.	10 ponieważ Pan jest tym, kto odpłaca, i siedmiokroć razy więcej odda tobie.
11 For the Lord is the one who repays, and he will repay you sevenfold.	11 Nie staraj się przekupić Go darem, bo nie będzie przyjęty, ani nie pokładaj nadziei w ofierze niesprawiedliwej,
12 Do not offer him a bribe, for he will not accept it; and do not trust to an unrighteous sacrifice; for the Lord is the judge, and with him is no partiality.	12 ponieważ Pan jest Sędzią, który nie ma względu na osoby.
13 He will not show partiality in the case of a poor man; and he will listen to the prayer of one who is wronged.	13 Nie będzie miał On względu na osobę przeciw biednemu, owszem, wysłucha prośby pokrzywdzonego.
14 He will not ignore the supplication of the fatherless, nor the widow when she pours out her story.	14 Nie lekceważy błagania sieroty i wdowy, kiedy się skarży.
15 Do not the tears of the widow run down her cheek as she cries out against him who has caused them to fall?	15 Czyż łzy wdowy nie spływają po policzkach, a jej lament nie świadczy przeciw temu, kto je wyciska?
16 He whose service is pleasing to the Lord will be accepted, and his prayer will reach to the clouds.	16 Kto służy Bogu, z upodobaniem będzie przyjęty, a błaganie jego dosięgnie obłoków.
17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds, and he will not be consoled until it reaches the Lord; he will not desist until the Most High visits him, and does justice for the righteous, and executes judgment.	17 Modlitwa biednego przeniknie obłoki i nie ustanie, aż dojdzie do celu.
18 And the Lord will not delay, neither will he be patient with them, till he crushes the loins of the unmerciful and repays vengeance on the nations; till he takes away the multitude of the insolent, and breaks the scepters of the unrighteous;	18 Nie odstąpi ona, aż wejrzy Najwyższy i ujmie się za sprawiedliwymi, i wyda słuszny wyrok.
19 till he repays the man according to his deeds, and the works of men according to their devices; till he judges the case of his people and makes them rejoice in his mercy.	19 Pan nie będzie zwlekał i nie będzie dłużej okazywał tym cierpliwości,
20 Mercy is as welcome when he afflicts them as clouds of rain in the time of drought.	20 aż zetrze biodra tych, co są bez litości, weźmie pomstę na poganach,
	21 wytraci tłum pyszałków i skruszy berła niesprawiedliwych;
	22 odda człowiekowi według jego czynów, dzieła zaś ludzi osądzi według ich zamiarów,
	23 wyda sprawiedliwy wyrok swojemu ludowi i uraduje go swym miłosierdziem.
	24 Piękne jest miłosierdzie przychodzące w czasie utrapie ia, jak chmury deszczowe - w czasie posuchy.
