Sirach 35

1 He who keeps the law makes many offerings; he who heeds the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.	1 Fa molte oblazioni chi osserva la legge.
2 He who returns a kindness offers fine flour, and he who gives alms sacrifices a thank offering.	2 E' sacrifizio salutare osservare i comandamenti e allontanarsi da ogni iniquità.
3 To keep from wickedness is pleasing to the Lord, and to forsake unrighteousness is atonement.	3 E' offrir sacrifizio di propiziazione per le ingiustizie e pregare per il perdono dei peccati l'allontanarsi dall'ingiustizia.
4 Do not appear before the Lord empty-handed,	4 Colui che offre fior di farina rende grazie, ma chi usa misericordia offre un sacrifizio.
5 for all these things are to be done because of the commandment.	5 Quello che piace al Signore è lo star lontani dall'iniquità, ed è pregare per il perdono dei peccati allontanarsi dall'ingiustizia.
6 The offering of a righteous man anoints the altar, and its pleasing odor rises before the Most High.	6 Non comparir davanti al Signore a mani vuote;
7 The sacrifice of a righteous man is acceptable, and the memory of it will not be forgotten.	7 perché tutte queste cose si fanno per comandamento di Dio.
8 Glorify the Lord generously, and do not stint the first fruits of your hands.	8 L'oblazione del giusto impingua l'altare ed è di un odore soave davanti all'Altissimo.
9 With every gift show a cheerful face, and dedicate your tithe with gladness.	9 Il sacrifizio del giusto è gradito e il Signore non se ne dimenticherà.
10 Give to the Most High as he has given, and as generously as your hand has found.	10 Di buon cuore rendi gloria a Dio, e non toglier nulla dalle primizie delle tue fatiche.
11 For the Lord is the one who repays, and he will repay you sevenfold.	11 Tutto quello che dài, dallo con ilare volto e consacra con allegrezza le tue decime.
12 Do not offer him a bribe, for he will not accept it; and do not trust to an unrighteous sacrifice; for the Lord is the judge, and with him is no partiality.	12 Dona all'Altissimo in proporzione a quanto t'ha donato e con occhio lieto offri secondo le tue facoltà,
13 He will not show partiality in the case of a poor man; and he will listen to the prayer of one who is wronged.	13 perché il Signore è rimuneratore e te ne renderà il settuplo.
14 He will not ignore the supplication of the fatherless, nor the widow when she pours out her story.	14 Non offrir doni perversi, perchè non li accetterà.
15 Do not the tears of the widow run down her cheek as she cries out against him who has caused them to fall?	15 E non fare assegnamento sopra un sacrifizio ingiusto, perchè il Signore è giudice, e davanti a lui non esiste grandezza di persone.
16 He whose service is pleasing to the Lord will be accepted, and his prayer will reach to the clouds.	16 Il Signore non fa accettazione di persone in danno del povero, ed esaudisce la preghiera dell'offeso.
17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds, and he will not be consoled until it reaches the Lord; he will not desist until the Most High visits him, and does justice for the righteous, and executes judgment.	17 Non disprezza la supplica dell'orfano, nè la vedova che espone a lungo i gemiti.
18 And the Lord will not delay, neither will he be patient with them, till he crushes the loins of the unmerciful and repays vengeance on the nations; till he takes away the multitude of the insolent, and breaks the scepters of the unrighteous;	18 Le lacrime della vedova, che scorron giù per le gote non son forse grida contro chi le fa scorrere?
19 till he repays the man according to his deeds, and the works of men according to their devices; till he judges the case of his people and makes them rejoice in his mercy.	19 Dalle guance salgono fino al cielo, e il Signore che esaudisce non ne avrà piacere.
20 Mercy is as welcome when he afflicts them as clouds of rain in the time of drought.	20 Chi adora Dio nel modo gradito sarà aiutato, e la sua preghiera arriverà fino alle nubi.
	21 La preghiera di chi si umilia penetrerà le nubi, e non si darà posa finché non giunga (a Dio) e non partirà finché l'Altissimo non l'ha riguardata.
	22 E il Signore non si farà aspettare, ma giu dicherà in favore dei giusti e fa rà giustizia, il Fortissimo non avrà più pazienza con essi, ma fiaccherà loro il dorso.
	23 E si vendicherà delle nazioni, finché non avrà dispersa la folla dei superbi e infranti gli scettri degli iniqui;
	24 finché non avrà reso agli uomini secondo le loro opere, secondo le azioni dell'uomo, secondo la sua presunzione;
	25 finchè non avrà fatto giustizia al suo popolo, e consolati i giusti colla sua misericordia.
	26 Bella è la misericordia di Dio nel tempo della tribolazione, come nubi cariche di pioggia nel tempo della siccità.
