Proverbs 19

1 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a man who is perverse in speech, and is a fool.	1 Melior est pauper, qui ambulat in simplicitate sua, quam qui torquet labia et est insipiens.
2 It is not good for a man to be without knowledge, and he who makes haste with his feet misses his way.	2 Ubi non est scientia animae, non est bonum; et, qui festinus est pedibus, offendit.
3 When a man's folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the LORD.	3 Stultitia hominis supplantat gressuseius, et contra Deum fervet animo suo.
4 Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.	4 Divitiae addunt amicos plurimos; pauper autem ab amico suo separatur.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who utters lies will not escape.	5 Testis falsus non erit impunitus; et, qui mendacia loquitur, non effugiet.
6 Many seek the favor of a generous man, and every one is a friend to a man who gives gifts.	6 Multi blandiuntur faciei potentis, et omnes amici sunt dona tribuenti.
7 All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.	7 Omnes fratres hominis pauperis oderunt eum, insu7per et amici procul recesserunt ab eo; qui tantum verba sectatur, nihil habebit.
8 He who gets wisdom loves himself; he who keeps understanding will prosper.	8 Qui autem possessor est mentis, diligit animam suam, et custos prudentiae inveniet bona.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who utters lies will perish.	9 Falsus testis non erit impunitus; et, qui loquitur mendacia, peribit.
10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.	10 Non decent stultum deliciae, nec servum dominari principibus.
11 Good sense makes a man slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.	11 Doctrina viri mitigat iram eius, et gloria eius est iniqua praetergredi.
12 A king's wrath is like the growling of a lion, but his favor is like dew upon the grass.	12 Sicut fremitus leonis ita et regis ira, et sicut ros super herbam ita et gratia eius.
13 A foolish son is ruin to his father, and a wife's quarreling is a continual dripping of rain.	13 Calamitas patris filius stultus; et tecta iugiter perstillantia litigiosa mulier.
14 House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.	14 Domus et divitiae hereditas patrum, a Domino autem uxor prudens.
15 Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.	15 Pigredo immittit soporem, et anima dissoluta esuriet.
16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his life; he who despises the word will die.	16 Qui custodit mandatum, custodit animam suam; qui autem neglegit viam suam, mortificabitur.
17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.	17 Feneratur Domino, qui miseretur pauperis, et vicissitudinem suam reddet ei.
18 Discipline your son while there is hope; d o not set your heart on his destruction.	18 Erudi filium tuum, dum spes est; ad interfectionem autem eius ne ponas animam tuam.
19 A man of great wrath will pay the penalty; for if you deliver him, you will only have to do it again.	19 Qui impatiens est, sustinebit multam; et, si eum abripere vis, aliud appones.
20 Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom for the future.	20 Audi consilium et suscipe disciplinam, ut sis sapiens in novissimis tuis.
21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established.	21 Multae cogitationes in corde viri, voluntas autem Domini permanebit.
22 What is desired in a man is loyalty, and a poor man is better than a liar.	22 Desiderabile in homine est misericordia eius; et melior est pauper quam vir mendax.
23 The fear of the LORD leads to life; and he who has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.	23 Timor Domini ad vitam, et in plenitudine commorabitur absque visitatione mali.
24 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it back to his mouth.	24 Abscondit piger manum suam in catino nec ad os suum applicat eam.
25 Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.	25 Derisore flagellato vel parvulus sapientior erit; si autem corripueris sapientem, intelleget disciplinam.
26 He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.	26 Qui affligit patrem et fugat matrem, filius inhonestus et ignominiosus.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction only to stray from the words of knowledge.	27 Acquiesce, fili, ut audias doctrinam nec erres a sermonibus scientiae.
28 A worthless witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.	28 Testis iniquus deridet iudicium, et os impiorum devorat iniquitatem.
29 Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and flogging for the backs of fools.	29 Paratae sunt derisoribus virgae, et plagae stultorum corporibus.
