1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is thy name in all the earth! Thou whose glory above the heavens is chanted	1 [Dem Chorleiter. Nach der gittitischen Weise. Psalm Davids.]
2 by the mouth of babes and infants, thou hast founded a bulwark because of thy foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.	2 Herr, unser Herrscher, wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde! Besungen wird deine Pracht am Himmel vom Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge.
3 When I look at thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast established;	3 Du hast eine Festung gegründet wegen deiner Gegner, um rachsüchtige Feinde zum Schweigen zu bringen.
4 what is man that thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou dost care for him?	4 Wenn ich deinen Himmel schaue, das Werk deiner Hände, den Mond und die Sterne, die du befestigt hast:
5 Yet thou hast made him little less than God, and dost crown him with glory and honor.	5 Was ist dann der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkst, das Menschenkind, daß du seiner dich annimmst?
6 Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet,	6 Nur wenig geringer als einen Gott hast du ihn gemacht, mit Glanz und Herrlichkeit ihn gekrönt.
7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,	7 Du gabst ihm Herrschaft über die Werke deiner Hände, alles legtest du ihm zu Füßen:
8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the sea.	8 Schafe und Rinder insgesamt sowie die Tiere des Feldes,
9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is thy name in all the earth!	9 die Vögel des Himmels, die Fische des Meeres, was alles die Meerespfade durchquert.
	10 Herr, unser Herrscher, wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
