1 A Song of Ascents."Sorely have they afflicted me from my youth," let Israel now say--	1 Canto delle salite.Quanto mi hanno perseguitato fin dalla giovinezza– lo dica Israele –,
2 "Sorely have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.	2 quanto mi hanno perseguitato fin dalla giovinezza,ma su di me non hanno prevalso!
3 The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows."	3 Sul mio dorso hanno arato gli aratori,hanno scavato lunghi solchi.
4 The LORD is righteous; he has cut the cords of the wicked.	4 Il Signore è giusto:ha spezzato le funi dei malvagi.
5 May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward!	5 Si vergognino e volgano le spalletutti quelli che odiano Sion.
6 Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up,	6 Siano come l’erba dei tetti:prima che sia strappata, è già secca;
7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand or the binder of sheaves his bosom,	7 non riempie la mano al mietitorené il grembo a chi raccoglie covoni.
8 while those who pass by do not say, "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!"	8 I passanti non possono dire:«La benedizione del Signore sia su di voi,
	9 vi benediciamo nel nome del Signore».
